Gareth Bale Transfer Speculation | Done

The baffling thing in all of this is that Bale apparently thinks he had a gentleman's agreement with Levy to let him go easily if they didn't make the CL.

I would have thought after Berbatov and Modric, any agent/player would know that if you want a deal like that in a contract, you put it in the contract. Are they all under hypnosis when they do the negotiation?
It's a good trick, Levy clearly waffles that 'we'll see you right' over the table while penning a deal that says nothing of the sort. Liverpool similarly fannied Suarez by the looks of it.

Real will be ridiculous next season, even if they don't get Bale. Ancelotti's nonchalant approach will also suit them much more than Mourinho's antagonistic one.

from Sky.

Spain-based journalist Graham Hunter tells Sky Sports that Real Madrid are prepared to go up to €93million for Gareth Bale.

That is just crazy money.
He isn't as proven as Ronaldo was so it could indeed back fire in a grand way. Don't think he is that good by any measure. They probably just want a big name signing. Atleast commercially this model works for Madrid, so fair play.

It's also a big risk from Bale's point of view, going on other British players in Spain. In my time I can't remember a British player that's gone up a level as a player at the top two Spanish clubs. Granted that only Beckham, McManaman, Owen and Woodgate are the ones i'm aware of, off the top of my head.

How did Linekar, Hughes etc. get on?

I can't help but feel like he'll end up being a disappointment for them if he goes for that money. He's a great player no doubt, but at Spurs he is the main player. Every attack goes through him to either create or score the goals. Every player looks better if they are the main man. If he went to Madrid, there would still be Ronaldo and Ozil ahead of him in that front 4, and he would just be a winger for them, nothing more. As a normal winger in a team, would Bale have the same effect as he has for Spurs? I don't think he would, and there isn't much to suggest he would. He's never gotten many assists for Spurs, and he scored 25 goals last season for Spurs playing predominantly behind the striker.

Whatever happens, it looks like Spurs will get a ridiculous deal for him, and while they might be hurt at first losing a player like him, they can easily replace him with class players in positions they are currently lacking players in and strengthen overall. If I was a Spurs supporter in this situation, I'd be pretty happy that they'd be selling Bale for 90million or so. Crazy money.

"Bale has three years left on his deal".

I thought he has a something like a 6 year deal? What is Levy playing at, if he stays hes not going to sign another contract even if they get in the CL, especially if Bale was promised to be able to leave having not reach the CL last season

The whole thing is too insane for me, just cant get my head around the price. I would say £65m is the absolute max,i would expect for him and that is at a stretch it. I have become disillusioned by the whole transfer market, just read today Luiz maybe leave Chlease for £40m:eek: ??

Ronaldo on the out if they sign Bale?

In an ideal world the rumours of having Ronaldo signed a while ago would be true, and the reason the announcement is delayed is so Real have time to sign Bale to ease the meltdown after Ronaldo's departure.

Unfortunately the world is not ideal and instead [insert Fellaini/Baines/Osman joke here].

Ronaldo on the out if they sign Bale?

No Ancelotti played him in the centre in a recent friendly against PSG, he will probably move there or him and Bale will be on opposite flanks with Ozil in the middle. Get a decent striker and this is a really good attack. The only thing will be whether any of those will defend and if the Madrid midfield will be good enough.

I think Ozil is actually the player most likely to be dropped. He isn't really a superstar in the way Ronaldo is and now Bale appears to be heading that way. With Isco coming through, I can see the fans preferring the Spanish option. I certainly imagine Bale will be needed to defend though.

We should make a move for Modric, or even Ozil, if Bale does happen.

They've spent big on Illaramendi as well. So Khedira, Alonso, Illaramendi and Modric are most likely vying for 2 CM spots. If Bale arrives, they might move CR to CF because they sold Higuain and only really have Benzema as a striker. This means both Ozil and Isco can be accomodated, at the expense of Benzema.

Muppet mode: buy Coentrao, di Maria and Modric and our summer is done!

Thanks for the inside tip. I'll head straight off to the bookies.

I'm starting to quite like you, the other oppo fans get very angry and the better ones (Like Ps) have just become quite petty and forced... you get a fair bit of abuse on here but from what I have seen generally conduct yourself well... first Spurs fan I've said that about :)

And what about Isco and Di Maria?

He's the most arrogant opposition fan here.

He does well from a tough position, SilentWitness by contrast is a bit of a Man Utd arselicker.

He thinks that we'll compete and be beaten by Spurs in the race for 4th position next season. He is a clown.

I don't recall making any predictions yet about the coming season. But I doff my cap to your powers of invention .... there's a job waiting for you at Marca.

Understatement of the year?

Would be retarded of them to do so. Ozil is by far a better player as an attacking midfielder behind the striker. Isco has huge potential as well, being very good already as it is. They really don't need Bale and it might do them more harm then good if it harms the development of the likes of Isco or if Ozil will be forced to leave.

@Glaston
That's good to know. I always knew that my skills extended beyond my current profession.

I am not going to waste my time and find your posts. Though I remember that's what you were intending when you were piggy riding on Pete's back in the Fabregas thread.

You seem to have calmed down since the news of Bale's imminent departure were printed on the front pages of every newspaper. Good on you.

And what about Isco and Di Maria?

Di Maria they'll sell if they get the right bid.

Isco can play in the 3 or the the 2 of a 4321, so he's a bit more flexible than Ozil - who can look a bit lost if he's not playing behind the centre forward.

I wouldn't be surprised if they end up with Ronaldo and Bale playing wide and Ozil and Isco in the middle with no real striker in some games, maybe even the biggest ones.

That's just as well, because trawling through my posts to find a prediction on where Spurs and MUFC will finish this season would indeed be a waste your of time.

As for "piggy riding Pete" ... is such revolting imagery really appropriate before the watershed hour?

It would be stupid, but Madrid in the past would do things like this. How the team shapes up could be to do with how much control Ancelotti has.
