Gareth Bale Transfer Speculation | Done

Of course, I'd rather him not join City, in fact I was delighted when they missed out on Isco. I am just not comfortable with the idea of the best British player plying his trade outside the Premier League.

I only care about United tbh and so do most fans I would think, Gareth leaving England (instead of signing for City or Chelsea) could only help Man Utd in the title race. Bale would be a big help for those teams in their title quest, I'd say he'd be a decisive factor even. He's a special player and if he's joining Utd, he can go anywhere outside England for me.

Spurs are mental to be rejecting any kind of offer that is being suggested in the media reports.

I agree, this is worse than genocide.

Oh the drama.

Out of curiosity, what will you be expecting from Bale for that sort of money? Will your fans be expecting the same sort of goal return as Ronaldo and how will they react if he takes a long time to settle?

If the figures mentioned are correct then offcourse the expectations are going to be skyhigh. Altough you can't expect the same goal return as Ronaldo from any player, especially when they're not strikers, unless his name is Messi.

A player with the technical ability of Bale won't take very long to settle either I think. Not too worried about that.

My biggest worry is Ronaldo's ego getting a dent for not being the most expensive player in the world anymore. If the deal goes through I bet we'll be in for "I'm not happy" part 2.

Madrid are fecking crazy to offer that and Levy plain stupid to reject it. Spurs will have a monumental task getting into the CL this year with the top 3 pretty much decided already. If they lose out, they'l be selling him for much less next summer.

50mil+coentrao+di maria is actually much better than 82mil cash. Would have improved them a lot. Crazy to turn it down. They'd have basically replaced him with 2 top players and enough cash to get another 2 in. Mental.

We could make him happy over here.:p

I'm very comfortable with it. Bale is the only world class player outside the top 4. Him joining City or Chelsea would be their gain and United's loss in terms of winning the PL.

That scenario is actually in the back of my mind all the time, I honestly still don't know what Ronaldo thinks about our club at the moment.

He'll return to Old Trafford sooner or later, hopefully the latter.

Anyway, Bale... don't know if he's worth splashing this sum on. I don't think I've seen more than a game or two of him last season.

Hope that the club knows what they're doing and it's not only a reaction to Barcelona bringing in a star like Neymar, which I suspect it pretty much is.

Was just thinking about that. Football-wise, Madrid don't really need Bale but it would be a Pérez thing to do to sign him to steal some of the limelight from the Neymar transfer.

It's great that fans there have a say who runs your club, but don't you think that sometime you will end up with players that you don't want or need when presidents and presidential candidates try to win the fans votes. In a way that's a problem in itself. Just buying the flavour of the month for the sake of it.

That's Perez M.O., he's basically the godfather of all muppets.

The fees being bandied about are ridiculous. Bale been 'doing it' for 1/2 a season and is worth more than CR7?
I appreciate our negotiation stance slightly weakened by his desire to go but Levy playing a blinder here/Madrid having a stinker.

On the one hand you have to admire Madrid. If they want a player, they go all out and don't let silly things such as wages or transfer fee get in the way.

On the other hand you have to say that they are absolutely fecking mental.

Vato, would you be happy at his signing if the reported fee of £80-odd million is true?

I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand it isn't my money anyway and I'll always welcome great players at the club but on the other hand I think the fees mentioned are beyond ridiculous.

Di Maria + Coentrao + 20-25m would be a great deal for Tottenham IMO. But like I said, when Florentino goes into muppet mode there's no stopping him. Levy certainly knows this too so he's going to try to get top dollar for his player.

They can afford it though with their huge commercial presence and the TV deal. I do hate to see them get whoever they want but if they can afford it, why not.

Not Vato, but if it is structured as 60m Euros cash + players I don't know any Madrid fans (not a scientific survey I admit) who would be bothered by it. They aren't worried about squad depth, because they want players like Jese and Morata to get the backup roles, they're worried about the first XI and the pursuit of the great white whale knows as the Decima.

So trading 4 good players for one great one makes sense to them.

We can afford it too. But we do sensible things like not overpay and manage our wage structure. Madrid pretty much give a middle finger to such practices and get whoever the feck they want. Like I said, in one way it is admirable but mostly absolutely mental.

Its a mix of both, yes, but they arent idiots who'd feck up the long term financial stability of the club so if they're doing it, they know they can sustain it.

Nah, feck Modric and go for Ronaldo.

Marca has a story in today's paper (or it's only on the website, I dunno) that says Ancelotti moved Ronaldo closer to goal, he played sort of a centre-forward in their last game against PSG. They speculate that it might be because of the imminent arrival of Bale but the writer also remarks that he thought Ronaldo looked less dangerous there and didn't relish having to play with his back to goal so often.

What's my point? I dunno, probably nothing.

Madrid have done well in player sales this summer by selling some of the crap and making an absolute fortune in doing so. Over £60m for Higuain (not crap but not worth £35m either), Callejon, Albiol and Pedro Leon is crazy. They will probably get another £35m from the sales of Pepe and Di Maria as well.

Basically "thanks Rafa, you fecking moron".

Don't think Bale is worth that. Di Maria + Coentrao +50 minutes that is just bollocks....actually both are bollocks.
