Television Gangs of London -Sky Atlantic

Whoa no wonder action in 1st and 5th episodes are brilliant, was directed by "The Raid" movies lad.

Watched 5 episodes so far and I am loving it.

EDIT: So I binged whole season in a day and loved it.

I do hate that they killed off Sean Wallace, like the character and the actor too. Would have loved to see him in Season 2.

On the final episode and it really is brilliantly gripping TV, but shows like this usually piss me off in one way or another
Elliot, the copper, gets to be Sean’s right hand man after seemingly no time at all and from absolutely no where.
Also, after a while, I don’t really get what Sean’s about. The plot loses his story a bit I think.
Finally, I’m sure one well placed van bomb wouldn’t take down a whole building as if all 50 stories are supported solely by the car park columns?! Just the little things...... hahaha

Anyway, the action is great and it’s a massively entertaining show. Looking forward to the finale.

you do have to suspend your disbelief a bit (, like most things in the show I suppose)... But a) we don't really know how much time elapses between things /episodes b) he did save his life and c) every other fecker is dead!

That is true and it’s implied he’s been around the gang working for yer man from Harry Brown for a while, but still. Considering all the shit popping off they wouldn’t trust some new fella. Any suspicion is never discussed as if they’re completely oblivious! It’s the same in any under cover cop show/film

Certain irony that Joe Coles accent is more annoying in this (Shaun) than as John in Peaky Blinders.

Maybe skewed by fact I see him as John but the posh voice is jarring as feck.

Just started episode 4 and genuinely tempted to pull an all nighter to get through them!

Really enjoying it so far, best series I’ve stuck on for a while.

What a shite finale. 8 episodes of good build up for feck all payoff.

I disagree

It sets things up perfectly for series 2, and I think that's the top job for series endings, especially for new shows because getting that second series and some momentum is really important. That ending will bring people back.

It has set up a huge war between the Wallace's and the Dumani's - all the main protagonists are still alive, probably including Sean because Elliot only shot him in the cheek and if he needed to follow orders from the higher powers he would have made sure the job was done.

I think they will play them off against each other and bring in a whole new tough squad of cops and foreign dealers, I can't wait to see it!

I’m not mad at the finale, just with the death of a certain character. He was the only one I’m interested in and I don’t really care for the UC side of the show.

Since she’s not dead somehow, hope she goes full on a murder spree

Episode 5 was bloody brilliant. Never seen firefights and action sequences of this quality on the telly.

Just finished.

Show really did peak in episode 5, was frustrated by how jam packed the final episode was - could have been spread out over eps. 8 & 9 imo.

Action sequences truly were upper echelon - the scene in the pub was so well choreographed.

Interview with Gareth Evans was interesting. He stated that if the shot was dead centre, then yes, there'd be no room for maneuver, but it was on the side cheek, so, they have explorable options for season 2. My thought is that they've done it that way because the show takes a couple of years to produce and air, therefore, they don't know whether Joe Cole will be signed on yet, what with other obligations. He's one of the most charismatic characters in the show; it'd be a mistake to knock him off so early.

I thought it was significant that he got shot in the exact same place as his old man. Who needed another bullet in the head to finish him off.

Indeed. I think there's a point being made about the Wallace persistence. The survival of his mum from the gunshot wound, in my opinion, is perhaps also saying something about the fate of Sean without necessarily showing his fate.

The quality of his acting in general is horrendous. Only watched the first episode but he was the worst part of it.

(Just watched episode 4 - the last 15/20 minutes was incredible).
Was that the shoot out in the old house?

Was just thinking on that today might rewatch it great show ultra violent can’t wait for a second series.

Keep eye out for Gangs of Soho... Done by and starring a lot of my mates.

A TV show made by Sky? I'll pass

The first season was very good.

Not so sure about that most comments are about how violent it is and the acting is poor

I can't watch shows where the acting is poor

I thought the acting was very good. Yes it's violent but the fight scenes are well choregraphed.
