farcical. the wire had fuzzy dunlop, the sopranos had livia's stairs chair. game of thrones still uses swords.

It's not. I mean I haven't even seen Sopranos and The Wire but as good as it is, GOT is a few notches below Breaking Bad.

Because they could have fitted all those men inside the castle walls? Also, did you see how quickly they got over. There’s only so much you can do from inside a castle.
Their whole battle plan was very confusing.
From a story perspective that was really underwhelming. After being built up as this final threat to humankind and waiting all this time for them to break through the wall, it's all over in one battle. It just leaves you with a sense that nobody ever really knew what to do with that storyline.
No idea about the trailer but I think Yara could take the iron Islands back potentially and join Targaryans.
As an undertaking it's unrivalled. It's a visual masterpiece and some of the more epic scenes are unbelievable for a TV show. But the story itself has suffered since the books dried up.

Pointless comparing GOT with something like the Wire. It’s dumb as a bag of rocks, so shouldn’t be taken seriously at all (which is why I find the military tactics debate hilarious) but it’s great fun and has some fantastic set-pieces.
Definitely one of the most entertaining tv series ever, provided you’re willing to suspend disbelief and enjoy it for what it is. A whole bunch of sword fights, massive battles, ice monsters and zombie dragons. With enough gore, boobs and cursing to reassure us that’s it’s ok to watch as an adult.
Suspension of belief was, obviously, not an issue for something like The Wire and hence it appealed in a very different way. I enjoyed the shit out of both shows though.

Haven't watched Sopranos but the Wire is really over rated on the caf. Not saying its a bad show but the way it's overhyped to be untouchable is wrong.

i dunno, but hopefully they have something special planned, they have to right? if your gonna end a war which could of meant the end of the world, which has been building for thousands of years in one battle halfway through a season, they have to have something special to end it with other then just another siege of kings landing. I normally don't re watch any show. Maybe not enough time has passed yet but after a few years I can see myself watching Got again esp early seasons.
Would agree with that but feel the same about GOT, they are really good in their own ways.
