Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

agreed. all these book nerds are going on about liking the old game of thrones before it sold out. guess what folks? in the real world, its about delivering happiness to the most people possible. youve got to give the people what they want. and what they want is stories about suckin on some big ol titties and telling women to kneel while holding a sword. this is culture now. 10/10

What do you mean by "now"?

I'm pretty sure the stories of swords and titties is why we even survived this long as a species. We haven't changed.

Swords and titties. Even typing those words on this piece of magical plastic feels so right.

if you were in westeros who would you be? i would sign up for the wall but actually be part of a 5th column to help the ice king

Hot pie all day long.

Boy looks like he's eaten well and seen plenty of wenches come through. feck fighting for a cause, when you can cook and eat and stare at purdy ladies all day long.

Leave the fighting for the dead men I say.

i want to be part of the ice kings army. imagine not having to worry about hunger or girls or existentialist dread. all you care about it wiping out humanity. i would be entirely happy. perhaps we feel like that when we die and become part of something entire, whether it is sun or air or goodness or the ice kings army. at any rate, that is happiness, to be dissolved into something complete and great.

There are all the obvious ones; Brienne, Theon, Tormund, Beric?, Grey Worm. But there has to be a shock death in there to really set the episode off. Who are people going for?

I bet the white walkers sing an awesome version of l'internationale.

also i think the wall should have recruiters go to schools to lie to children and trick them into becoming part of an imperialist occupying force that regularly commits war crimes just like the us military does

No need, the devil already does that.

But that's caring at all.

I don't want to care, I want to eat pie and oogle titties. I don't care about wiping out humanity, seems like effort. Leave me to my beef, gravy, and saddle sored bitches. Screw caring about wiping out this, that or the other. Who cares? They are just all more meat for the pies, or worst case bones for the gravy stock.

Cant believe they spent 2 of the last 6 episodes just prepping. Like they were both decent episodes but with all the shit they have to do, they couldve done these 2 into 1 and spent more time on everything else.

I guess budget had to play a part.

I think this episode won the throne for the worst episode of the series.

Better than the first but 1/3 of the season has gone. If it was a 10 episode season then I’d be more confident, but at the moment there’s far too much to get through in 4 episodes, despite the extended length.

No it isn’t.

The first two episodes of the season were only around 50-55 minutes long, while episodes 3-6 are a minimum of 80 mins each. We’re around 1/4 of the way through.

I found the Brienne scene quite sweet for what it's worth.

Why is the Ice Man still comething?

I like to imagine that there is a seperate GOT show somewhere in space that is focused on the relationship between Grey Worm and Silk Worm and their struggle to realise love under the heel of white colonial power. Can they ever be true to their love whilst serving under a dragon lady's centrist military hegemony and will they dare call her out on her insincere commitment to civil rights? I call it Clinton 2020. And I call that social satire my friends.

A big monster will come and take them to daddy heaven.

I still don't get why we haven't seen a dragon glass sword hand on Jaimie, and I was hoping Arya's weapon would be something way cooler than a lame (rather chunky handled) spear. Like some glove thing that spits out arrow heads, or even a bow that tri-shoots. Maybe even needle remade as dragon glass.

Where's the creativity?
I went back to check as I thought that on the blueprint it looked like it can be transformed into 2 short weapons... needless to say, I was quite disappointed.

I just hope that they won't spend the first 40 minutes of the next episode on Cersei and go straight to it.

Arya (or maybe Sansa). Too many Starks running around bold as brass at the moment - that's not how this show works.

Surprised that a lot of people think that Jon will kill Dany. I think the tension between them is a red herring. It's likely that Dany will become pregnant with Jon's child and that will probably smooth most of the present issues. It's possible that Dany dies though, but I think it will happen some other way.
Yeah, if anything Dany is probably thinking she and Jon need to break up so that he can continue the bloodline (since she can't get pregnant (...yet))

It's a nice angle to take and a nice parallel to Stannis - love over duty.

I thought The Walking Dead had used up every stupid character decision possible to see, but putting all the women, children and dwarves down in the crypts while the guy who raises dead bodies is coming to town might just top the lot.

Does she really care about the Targaryen lineage? I mean she let her brother die pretty easily. She had a potential heir in her belly, of course, but still, she didn't really show any remorse about that and I don't think that she'll do something like that for the sake of the bloodline.

I don't think Greyworm will die. I agree about the rest though. As for the shock death, well I guess it depends on whether The Night King wins or not. If he doesn't, I think as a parting gift, Bran will die. His arc would be complete and he has no real role post The dead losing. Plus, he is also being used as bait to lure the Night King.

I couldn't help but feel that the way they were talking about the Ice King was the perfect setup for the war to have the same ending as every other movie/series with wars between humans vs non-humans, which is "kill the leader and every baddie will die a second afterwards". I truly hope they won't do that since it's so incredibly lazy and it's already been done to death (no pun intended).

I think Bronn's going to aim the arrow at Jaime with either Tyrion/Brienne coming in the way and losing their life, giving Jaime the motivation to kill Cersei himself

Hey guys remember all these characters, here’s a big reunion so you feel bad when some of them die soon.

Based on episode 2

Have a feeling Dany try to get rid of Jon. He's taken a risk by confiding in her before everybody else coming to know

Yep it looks like Theon is a goner.

Now what happens if Arya is pregnant...does the kid have a right to the throne?

I think that Dany will withdraw her Armies form Winterfell in the middle of the battle. The knight King will be killed but the battle outside the wall will have been carnage without her help.

She retreats to The Iron Islands to prepare for war against Cersei. Jorah will turn up slitting her throat only to remove a mask revealing Arya.

Really good episode actually. Far better than last week.

Brienne leading part of the army is stupid though. She's got no actual experience leading an army, it's not the same as simply being a good individual fighter.

Jaime was raised to do that and has done it his entire life and led numerous battles, command should clearly be given to him.

They don't trust him, they trust Brienne.

No one has experience of leading an army until they actually lead an army.

Well most military commanders will have been tutored before they lead an army. Very few would have just been thrown in to that leadership role without studying the art of war from a pretty early age, learning about grand strategy, logistics, basic battle tactics etc.

Leading an army isn't just something you can make up as you go along. Jaime was prepared his whole life to lead troops in to battle, prepared by one of the best strategic/tactical minds in Westeros, and since then has gained loads of experience and learned a lot from his mistakes. He's a genuine hardened commander, one of the few you have .. give him a leadership role if you trust him enough to fight. It's not like he's deliberately going to sabotage you since if the army loses he also dies.
