Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

Given how long it's been since the season finale, and no new material provided *E.g. trailer, I say anybody guessing now is clearly doing it based on something else they read (possible spoilers)

It's pretty much impossible i'd say. I'll probably just make a conversation of people I trust and discuss it in there rather than in here when it comes close to release.

Feel free to add me. I always have a dear when I open this thread that someone will have spoiled something.

I reckon some characters will probably die. Definitely the bad ones. And maybe some of the goodies just to mix it up. We'll also see boobs.
I'm not so sure. The boobs to run-time ratio has steadily decreased season by season to the point that there were only one or two (very fine) pairs on screen last season. That's a 50,000% drop on the season one ratio which was essentially just ten hours of boobs. It's not unrealistic to say that given NBS (number of boobs per season) over RTS (run time season) has decreased so much then NBS:RTS = 0 for season 8, in which case what's the fecking point of it all anymore. :(

Disturbing research. No chance of a dwarf cock then.

As someone who actively seeks out spoilers I've not seen anything in the places I would normally find them. There have been a few theories floating around but nothing more than that

It seems HBO really clamped down after the full season leak.

I'd never post spoilers but if I ever see anyone posting them I'll notify the authorities.

Anyone else think that the final season will be extremely tragic? Maybe a very open sort of ending that doesn't resolve anything? Fans are going to be very disappointed if that's the case.
nah, season 7 was all about fan service really and showing people what they wanted to see, season 8 will be similar. things will be resolved, probably just in a rushed, non satisfactory way.

But if the ending is pure fan service like much of season 7 was, do you think GRRM would agree to it? It is after all his universe. If he doesn't like the show's ending that D & D decide to do, do you think he'll write a different ending for the books? Even if he doesn't write the final two books, someone in his team might on his orders. He has said that the ending will be "bittersweet".

How do you see the white walkers being defeated? It doesn't look possible. They have mentioned in the show that KL has a million people. If the night king goes there, there is no hope for Jon, Jaime and Dany.

Nailed on to be tragic and controversial.

Jon and Dany both probably die or else decide the Night King isn’t such a bad guy and take advantage of great deals he offers on real estate north of the Wall. Westeros decides they're okay about Jamie and Cersie and it's time to accept that sort of love anyway. Sansa marries Hotpie because he makes such fabulous lemon cakes and he takes the iron throne.

I was stuck in a hotel without internets with little else to do besides watch what I had on a hard drive, and came to two profound conclusions (spoilered because this thread is weird and I don’t remember all the rules):

Season 2 is the best season. It has everything that’s good about GoT in peak form.

Arya gave Tywin the idea to murder Rob. During a scene where she’s serving as his servant, he asks her what the common folk say about Rob. Then she responds to his question of if Rob can be killed with ‘Any man can be killed’ and Tywin’s eyes go bonkers. If it was a cartoon there’d be a lightbulb above his head and steam coming out his ears.

Nah season 3 is the best for me. The confidence with which the show executes everything is palpable, and they were still prioritising substance over style due to budget constraints. I do like season 2 a lot, but it has structural issues and obvious weak segments (Dany in Quarth and Jon beyond the wall)

If you're talking about consistency then early GoT was probably better. If you're talking about standout episodes however then later seasons of GoT stands out.

Battle of the Bastards, The Door, HardHome, Spoils of War, Beyond the Wall, The Winds of Winter. All fecking brilliant episodes.

Season 5 was probably for me the worst although the Fighting Pits with Drogon appearing might be one of my favourite moments in the show though.

An HBO exec has apparently said first half of 2019. I had heard March.

I’ve now watched it from ep1 of season 1 to series 7 about 3 times since it ended. It does need to get a move on.

You seen the Jon Snow edit on youtube that mashes all his clips together? Tempted to watch that as it'd be fun to see it all as one story.

Oh they can feck off with their show
Apparently every episode is a feature length so basically like making 5 movies in a year and a bit without the funding of a movie, I had read that the reason it has taken so long is that they have one main camera crew or something where most movies have like a secondary or 3rd. Apparently this has caused a lot of delays. Also read there is one scene that took 54 days to shoot. People can make movies in that timescale.

@RedSky I have not but I feel another GOT binge coming on, I saw you mentioned those stand out episodes above and have to agree. Battle of the Bastards for me, that one scene,
The horse charge at john, actually the whole bit from his little bro up to them being surrounded is incredible

Damn it, I’m going to watch it when I get home

Beyond the Wall sucked.

And Hardhorne and Winds of Winter aside I think Baelor, Rains of Castamere and Blackwater are all better standout episodes than the above.

Only an hour long for Season 1... it continues on (its a playlist).

Cool, i’ll Give it a watch later.

I really hope that this season we get the answer to the question on everyone’s lips.
what the hell did podrick do to those prostitutes?

Ever after I read that prequel summary I'm more and more hyped about it!

My biggest fear is them bottling GOT season 8 and series altogether in order to save the mystery for that prequel serie. That would really suck.

This is just a bunch of known faces, couple of white walkers, one random dragon.

Well, i'm not sure why the poster has red lighting, but it's only reflected in the eyes of Jon, Drogon and Daenerys. Might just be lazy artwork, but then they've added the hand brooch icon on Tyrions jacket, so they've added some detailing.

Good spot that, definitely too much to be a coincidence. What it signifies though.. ?

Possibly the ones that die... :(

I was wondering if they might do a parallel story and have Jon/Daenerys die and have their baby (assuming they have enough time for her to give birth in the conclusion and assuming she's preggers in the first place) raised by Sansai Stark as a nice nod to what happened with Jon himself.
