Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

what about we lock the thread until monday morning?

if people cant understand the simplest of rules, authorities need to deal with it (Banhammer the cnuts or close thread).

even comments like "wow!! what an episode" deserves a lengthy ban.

what happens if the episode wasn't that good in the end? i was pumped just for nothing?
Even though I've seen the episode, I fully agree with this. Spoilers shouldn't be anywhere near this thread, even if it's only about managing expectations.

Anyone who has seen the episode and posts the events in this thread even as a spoiler will be threadbanned immediately and also a 3 point infraction.

Stay the feck away from thread
I love you

So my mate just txt me and basically spoiled some of the episode for me cause he just had to watch it, while I've purposefully stayed away from it. Grrr, what is it with people who just have to blurt out that they know something you don't about a show or film, because they've seen it or read the book before you.

It's like they just have to let you know that they knew it before you. That they have this knowledge and you don't. Fecking clowns!

Sorry, rant over.

Same here.. I am meeting a couple of friends for drinks tonight.. One of them has mentioned that they have seen the episode last night.. I have decided to download it now.. Because I don't want to risk them spoiling something..

Yeah it sucks, fortunately none of my family/friends watch GOT so I'm lucky in that regard.

The only time that I can remember spoiling something was after I'd completed Red Dead redemption, 5 of us in a party chat and I was the only one to of finished it at that time.
Someone says where they are & asks how long left & I then proceed to tell him the order of things until the end, then I end with 'then you 'insert end'. I didn't realise what I had done until I was called a cnut by 4 different people, then it sunk in.

I have stumbled upon spoilers numerous times when finding out an attractive actresses name though.

Since we're talking about spoilers, the two times i had shit spoiled on me was from two of the actors!

A random interview with charles dance were he mentioned that a fan told him of his demise!

Think he was promoting season 3 at the time.

The next was Al Swearagen, he mentioned that the Hound was coming back. So it ruined the surprise.

Two shitheads!

Also for those who haven't seen the Episode 4. I'd advise you to stay away from YouTube(If you have ever seen watched GoT related vids on YouTube before) or any other social media. I just went to YouTube and there are loads of videos there which'll spoil the EP4 for you guys.
Yep I only saw the one thumbnail with it's title but it was enough for me to shut Youtube quickly before I saw any more. Why people have to do things like that is beyond me.

Just caught up with everything. Glad Clegane came back. Missed his one liners, they make shit episodes worth the hour of watching.

By the way two things to consider before you spoil yourselves:

A. The leaked version will almost definitely be of inferior quality with denser audio
B. Unless the next episode gets leaked also (probably unlikely), then you have to wait longer for the next one. Even if it somehow does, then A applies again.

This is why I personally have decided to wait.

Wow, thanks for spelling it out for me pal.

I ruined it for myself by watching the first 4 that got leaked a few years back.
Never again. The wait was even more torturous.
A 7 day wait + a 7 day wait + the possibility of spoilers

Or

A 5 day wait + a 9 day wait - the possibility of spoilers

The second option is the better one. Not to mention the fact that coming up with theories and analysis is a huge part of the fun. Having watched the leak, I've got two extra days of that.

It doesn't prevent one from re-watching it in good quality.

I couldn't resist watching the leaked episode last night. All I'll say is it's a fecking masterpiece, this show. Nothing will come close to the outstanding quality achieved here for a very long time, if ever.

C. Those who have seen it, will be able to enjoy it longer than others

Well, fair point but that's a reason to watch it. Not to wait.

In any case it's each to their own. I'd decided to wait and will watch it tonight. If people watched the leaked one and enjoyed it then by all means fair play. It's all entertainment so if you enjoy it you're winning. I just play it safe, that's all.

For me the key reason for not waiting was not only the stupid time it airs in the UK but because I work I wouldn't be able to see it until Monday evening which is a nightmare when trying to avoud spoilers all day... leaks are a godsend even if the quality isn't top notch.

The 'having to wait a few extra days for the next episode' argument is a poor one really. We wait almost a year for a next episode when the season ends. I'll take whatever is available right now.

That constitutes a spoiler.

It makes people expect something (or not expect something, as the case may be). That always lessens the impact and removes at least some of the element of surprise.

Good point. Anyhow now that the episode is airing tonight hopefully all this can be put to bed and we can actually get to discussing the episode!
