And there was always going to be a narrowing of who gets focused on as more characters get killed. A narrowing of the areas it focuses on. And an end game involving the main characters. It used to be a show about Play Politics, now it's a show about Power Politics. That was always going to be the logical conclusion. I don't get why people are surprised/disappointed.
Oh I get that but if there is proof that Jon is Rhaegar's son then Dany has no claim to the throne. The question is how will she take that news?
I think additional proof will be needed that they actually married otherwise hes still a bastard.
But if theres proof to all of that, I could see Dany flipping out. Imagine, her seven or so year journey leads to find out, shes not even the rightful heir. Damn.
How did that Iron Islander bloke track down greyjoy's fleet? We don't know. How are the Doffraky doing? They've crossed the sea for the first time, are their any feelings that they are doing the wrong thing? We don't know
Why have they turned Tyrion into an idiot? Unless he's either up to something or it's leading somewhere or other, it doesn't really make much sense. He just spouts gibberish and gives bad advice this and the last season. Why did it make any sense to take Castly Rock other than because the plot needed them to? This show is supposed to be better than that.

Euron was more intersting this episode, especially as they've decided that Game of Thrones Risk rules apply to the TV show so his fleet can just turn up wherever the feck it wants, whenever it wants. and I'm guessing Jamie will tell Cersei about what really happened to Jeffrey and then there'll be problems when she still wants to blame or murder Tyrion anyway.
I see they've also got around the fact Bran can't act by just turning him into a right fecking weirdo who doesn't have to convey emotion. Again, not really tying in with anything that's happened before but hey, Three Eyed Raven or whatever. I'm weird now.
I enjoyed the episode though. Typical GOT where everything you don't want to happen, happens, but somehow in a good way.
It's the Lannister seat of power and the source of their wealth. It would be an obvious place to attack.
I kinda hope the Lannisters win in all honesty, just because they so obviously won't and aren't meant to.
Tyrion isn't an idiot. He's just being outmaneuvered by Jaime and Euron.
Why is it the source or their wealth? We've known for many seasons that the source of their wealth is the Iron bank and the Tyrels. Tyrion also definitely knows this because his dad put him in charge of looking after the money in King's Landing! He is either up to something or they've just illogically turned him into a thicko.
The obvious place to attack would have been Kings Landing, as that's where Cersei is, it's where the Iron Throne is. If Tyrion knew a secret way into Castly Rock they could have just taken that whenever they felt like it anyway.
He advised them to attack Castly Rock instead of Kings Landing, despite this having no purpose at all.
He knows the Iron bank is what funds the iron throne as he was the master of coin and there were scenes where HE brought this up. His only argument was "avoid killing people"...despite knowing his sister is bonkers and would never just surrender herself without them having to attack Kings Landing anyway.
His advice made no sense at the time and the way the show has played out makes it look even sillier.

The better question here is if Tyrion knew that the gold mines of Casterly Rock had run dry years ago. Tywin told this Cersei but as far as I can remember the show never showed Tyrion gaining this crucial piece of knowledge. Him being master of coin of the crown is certainly not enough evidence to assume that as the crown and House Lannister were seperated things.

Perhaps you should stick to the book thread? This is the same as last episode. Euron's ship is called the Silence because no one notices him or his fleet. He also has the ability to hide his ships in mist (although its not played up in the show, it is in there, as it was last episode) Right down to him taking the tongues of captives and future crew everything is pretty much spot on with Euron this season bar his dress sense.
No you mustve read that in the book.Did I imagine it or doesn't Dany mention she needs to find two others to ride her dragons? I might be mistaken though.
Agree with that, probably deliberately put some restricted texts in there. Something to do with the Wall or the Walkers? And I'm sure the maester wanted him to find it

That's where the famed Lannister gold has always been stored. Jamie even alluded to it when he said that actually Casterly Rock wasn't worth much anymore, and they had already moved all the gold out in anticipation of the attack.
Yeah it can't be gold as they don't have gold anymore. Tywin mentions this to Cersei in Season 4 that the last of their gold mines went dry sometime back. Was one of the reason to secure the alliance with House TyrellHe said they emptied the food reserves. Not the gold.
Gold mines running dry as excuse for the depleted finances is stratospheric stupidity. It's just not how medieval economy works.

Some of you lot are rubbish at watching TV.
It's like saying the Sauds will run out of money the moment they run out of oil.For feck sakes.

Turn off your brain and enjoy the spectacle all you want. It is still stupid.
I think Euron should have asked Jamie if Cersei liked a stump in her rump.
Oh ffs. There has been numerous mentions of how expensive war is and that the Lannister (Tywin specifically) had long been making offers to the Iron Bank to keep funds flowing. It's been a false economy for a long while. The gold still exists it's just exited the local economy and moved into the Iron Bank.
That's how the Iron Bank have power, if everyone was rich and prosperous nobody would come to them and ask them what they want in return.
Oh ffs.
Do you even have the slightest idea how it works? Are you telling me generation upon generation the Lannisters have been borrowing money and pay the debt with mined gold?
Go read something about medieval currency manipulation, minted coinage etc before making a reply. Do you even know why Olympians bite their gold medals as late as the 1910s?
Can we make a new thread about making coins?Oh ffs.
