Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

I thought originally that he was Bolton's bastard, but he didn't come across as having any sort of authority position over the other guards, more like he was the whipping boy or something. Whoever's holding him isn't friendly with Robb anyway, as Robb has no idea where Theon is.

I don't even think that Lord Bolton knows what's going on with Theon either.

Yeah, but I don't think Bolton's bastard is friendly with Robb, I think it's a further sign of the growing animosity in Robb's army (striking similarities between Richard III's army's general indifference to fighting for him at Bosworth). The first part is true, but he has already shown he's willing to play games with Theon, that could easily (and probably was) just one of them).

Wasn't really a fan of Ros at the beginning but now that she's dead, I'll strangely miss her.

I was a bit disappointed with the fact that it just didn't feel like a big enough moment. The fact that it's Jofferys first actual kill should have made it a real focal point in the episode, instead it was just a panning shot past him... sure it looked gory, but it could have been more dramatic.

Or maybe I'm just nitpicking, who knows.

Joffrey's killed quite a few with that crossbow hasn't he? Ros was only a peripheral character with no real value though, except boobs of course.

He has? I thought other people have done killing for him? He's definitley not killed people privately for shits and giggles I don't think?!

I could well be wrong on all that.

She was a pawn, someone to reiterate that when you play the Game of Thrones, you win or you die.

Taking a different direction, I wonder what the red woman meant when she said to Arya she sees darkness in her eyes, and that she will kill 3 with different coloured eyes etc..

I'm sure I've heard references to him using the crossbow on traitors and prisoners in previous episodes, and there was the scene with the two whores last season, although I kind of assumed that it was the crossbow that finished her off. I could be wrong though.

Either way it didn't come across as a landmark or anything out of the ordinary for me, rather just another bit of fun for Joff..

I assumed that she was referring to Joffrey, Cercei et al that the girl keeps banging on about every single episode.

She is clearly obsessed with getting revenge although it seems an age ago that Bean got his head lopped off so I imagine she'll be near the back of the queue now, particularly with regards to the Joffmeister.

Unless I've missed something obvious its the names she was stating while practising her archery: Joffrey, Cersei, Ilyn Payne. Two of which at least are blonde therefore with marble coloured eyes.

Edit: If she is right then can we ban the red woman from this thread for revealing spoilers.

I don't remember Joffrey killing anyone in the past.

Well her got Ros to beat the shit out of the other girl, we've never seen her again so it's possible she's dead.

They need to stop with the silly sex talk. 'A sword swallower through and through' and Ygritte going on and on about 'that thing you did with your tongue' were just cringeworthy and unnecessary.

If Gendry is lucky he could just be a sperm donor for Melisandre's next smoke baby assassin, a job even a Liverpudlian wouldn't turn down.

He didn't touch her anyway. Of course that Joffrey ordered people to be killed (Ned for example) but this has to be the first killing by his own hands. It's not relevant anyway, he is a fecking psycho and Ros's only contribution to the story were her tits.

I thought the sword swallower line was funny.

Ygritte though, everything she says annoys me because of that accent.

I saw the two last episodes in one go and I enjoyed them more than the rest of the season so far. Certainly more than the silly Daenerys stuff.

Politics picking up and stuff actually happening on all fronts.

The fat guy in the nightwatch is starting to piss me off more and more though. What a useless and boring character.

The whole Ygritte almost falling off the wall and Snow catching him in the last second was terrible and unneeded popcorn madness. And the kiss in the end? This is not a romantic comedy for fecks sake.

I liked that line too.

Ygritte is posh as fook in real life (as are a lot of actors/actresses), saw her on one of those god awful thronecast things. She's pretty tasty too.

Yeah it wasn't great. The CGI is almost always good on the show but I thought the views from the wall looked pretty naff.

people definately talking about the book in this thread, more recently the last page, mods should act quickly

Don't think they are, everything they've mentioned is in keeping with what has been revealed in the show.

If you've not read the book I wouldn't read this spoiler just in case.

feck off to the book thread. NO book talk.

How fecking difficult is it for people to digest. No Book talk. I've typed it twice in case it didn't register in your head.

No Book talk.

3rd times a charm.

No need to be a condescending arsehole. I was pointing out that other people seemed to be discussing book spoilers and was clarifying why. I didn't say anything that hadn't already been said, and was in fact just pointing out that I couldn't see how they'd drawn the conclusions being discussed without first reading the books. Being aware that someone might be spoiled by it, I spoiler tagged it and told people who hadn't read the books not to read it. Someone explained something that I'd forgotten from season 2 which explained how they'd reached their interpretation and I've not had time to delete the comment yet. That said it's hardly my fault if someone ignored the warning and tag, and managed to spoil themselves.

Not the first time this has been a problem. It doesn't matter if you put a spoiler or your arsehole around the text to hide it, you have your own thread, use it.

The problem with just having a general book thread and a general tv thread is that there's nowhere for people like me who haven't finished the book series yet and are watching the tv series. You can't exclude any mention of the books in this thread because it's the people who've read the books that can call out spoilers. A problem in the thread for the last series was people who'd clearly read the books having 'theories' about what was going to happen next and discussing them in surprising detail given what we'd seen in the show. I wasn't the only one who thought that book spoilers were being presented as theories and at the end of the day I was only trying to prevent the people who hadn't read the books from being spoiled. Like I said, if you're moronic enough to spoil yourself by reading something hidden in spoiler tags and clearly labelled as a potential spoiler then it's hardly my fault that you got spoiled.

But by calling out my theory as 'book talk' you did spoil it for me as I haven't read the books and my theory was just pure speculation based on what I've seen on the show and what I thought may happen.

Books should not be mentioned at all in this thread. If a person speculates on future events and you think it may be a book spoiler, it would be better if you ask that person why he thinks that particular theory will happen rather than coming in here and saying 'that's book talk'.

Edit: I've deleted my post which had my theory in it. The post was spoiled by people who can't stop mentioning books in a thread which says no book talk.

Exactly right, if somebody says "you read the book!" every time somebody posts a vaguely accurate guess it counts as a spoiler. Alex should have asked his question in the other thread.

Then create your own thread and stop shitting up this one.

It'd have the same problems as the book thread though. People who haven't yet finished the book series could get spoiled by people who've read further ahead. If people post appropriately tagged spoilers in here then the chances are they're only going to be discussing the events of the last episode rather than talking about how it ties into something three books down the line.

I'd agree that it was a massive oversight on my part to call it out as book spoilers straight away and I can't really do anything other than apologise for that. The thing is though, people aren't going to admit that they're using the books for 'theories' so just asking them how they came to those conclusions wouldn't really reveal anything. I didn't start the books until the second season ended, so when I was reading 'theories' by people who'd read the book after each episode it ruined it a little, so I was only trying to prevent that happening in here. Again, I apologise for being rash and spoiling you. Obviously we're just going to have to rely on people who've read the books not to come in here and 'speculate' on what's going to happen but I still feel that it's unreasonable to expect absolutely no book talk, because people who have read the books are going to want to compare the tv series to them, and by going into the book thread they risk being majorly spoiled. It'd probably be best in future if people didn't try and call out people using the books to speculate because as far as those who haven't read anything are concerned, it's just another theory. The only solution I can really propose is that theories get spoilered in tags marked as theories, and anything book related gets tagged in spoilers with a warning about being related to the books.

I'm a book reader and all I do is come in here to share my thoughts on the recent episode or answer a question someone may have about something. I then GTFO before I accidently let something slip.

It's really not that difficult, and you avoid any problems by just not using this thread. If you want to compare the TV series to the book, then you can do so with the rest of us in the book thread!

Not that its worth anything, but Im pro temp-banning people who post spoilers from the books in this thread.

A lot of mates in real life have read Game of Thrones and I've managed to avoid hearing a single spoiler from them, despite that they all love the show. I walk out the room, stick my fingers in my ears and hum or whatever else.

Just leave us ignorant alone. Stop being a selfish git.

Anyway just watched the latest episode. 8 episodes a season is nowhere near long enough. I was disappointed in (Ross?)'s death, as AN says Jeoffery's first kill should have been a bigger moment. They had to make Jeoffery more evil though, he's barely done anything in comparison to the others!

The wall bit was alright, when they started climbing it I thought it was going to worse than it actually was. You cant really convey a sense of scale on TV like that.

Is the book thread not there to cover all of the books? I've not read it in fear of being spoiled but I scanned through a couple of pages and there didn't seem to be much use of spoiler tags. It seems a bit hypocritical to tell someone to feck off in fear of them spoiling you, only to send them to somewhere that they might be spoiled themselves. If the book thread only keeps in pace with the TV series I'll forget about this thread and move into there, but I don't want to go there only for someone to be discussing something I've not got to yet. Likewise I don't want to have to tip-toe around subjects that other people haven't arrived at yet. If something is in spoiler tags and is accompanied by an appropriate warning, I really don't see what the big problem is.

As I've said multiple times, and I've seen others post it in the past as well, there isn't anywhere for people who haven't yet finished reading the books but are watching the TV series to discuss anything. Any mention of the word 'book' in here and everyone flips with people calling for bans (see below). I made an error before and have apologised. However, there's not much else I can do about that now other than repeat the apology.

As I said above, it seems a bit hypocritical to call anyone who dares to mention the book selfish because they might spoil you, even if they post in spoiler tags clearly marked as potential book spoilers, whilst telling them to go to a thread where they themselves might be spoiled.

If the book thread is just keeping pace with the TV series I'll go there and everything I've said in this thread can be considered redundant and be replaced with my apologies for wasting your time. Until then though, I really don't see why everyone's getting there knickers in such a twist about the idea that someone could potentially discuss how the TV series ties in with the book, providing that it's all appropriately spoilered, in the TV thread.

8? I'm pretty sure it's 10 episodes per season.

You know, having read the books myself, you could just stop being such an attention craving drama queen and STOP posting ANYTHING in these threads since you seem incapable of not ruining shit for people.

Or, you could just carry on cnuting the place up.

8? I'm pretty sure it's 10 episodes per season.

It is 10 and they're all a few minutes longer than previous seasons. But it still feels too short, I wish they had 3-4 more episodes.

Right, so because I'd quite like to discuss the books and how they tie in with the TV series, I'm an attention seeking drama queen for pointing out that there currently isn't a way to do that on the forum without people hounding you out of threads or being spoiled.

I've admitted to, and apologised for what happened the other day, but it's not the first time it happened and it probably won't be the last. It's since been deleted as has the post it referred to. I've asked what the situation is in the book thread and said I'll get the feck out of here and go there if I'm not going to have the book series ruined for me in there by people discussing books I've not read. I've offered suggestions that could solve the situation without having more GoT related threads, but apparently people simply can't contemplate the idea that they don't click on a spoiler tag clearly marked as a spoiler.
