Gabriel Jesus | Arsenal

It's weird. I'm yet to see a facet to his game that makes me think, 'oh shit, this guys a talent'.

Yet he's a really good finisher. Right place, right time and all that. Looking forward to seeing him next season.

To be fair. He finished his season in Brazil before joining City only in January. New league, young player, etc. Then he broke his foot but he's still contributing which in my opinion is a great sign.

Your 2nd sentence seems to answer your first. He's a good finisher, has very good movement and anticipation.

His game reminds me of Little pea's, decent poacher but not much else. They've replaced Iheanacho with the Brazilian Iheanacho.

I'm starting to think this way as well. He'll need to have a ridiculous goal to game ratio to make up for it if he's to be considered in the elite bracket.
He seems to be Iheanacho with a sexier name attached
I see why but I can't disagree with the Iheanacho comparison more, having seen both for City. His all around game will improve I'm sure, he's only 20 years old afterall, but he's got a great first touch, he's physically very strong with the ball and he beats players. He's miles ahead of Iheanacho, who will be a goalscorer, but probably never a top class player.

Jesus still has it all to do, but he's got attributes that Iheanacho doesn't which gives him a far better chance for me.

You'll be surprised if you think that. His tight dribbling and first touch are miles ahead of Hernandez or Ihenacho. Today he had a nutmeg and created a chance dribbling a few players. He also can play with his back to the goal and fight with big strong guys, while Hernandez was attrocious in that sense.

its the 2nd and 3rd season when defences have enough tapes and familiarity to gameplan for you that really distinguishes the great ones.

There have been so many player that burst onto the scene with brilliance only to fade with time.

His general play outside the box isn't all that.

Before the injury it was better than Aguero's and that was the reason why he benched the Argentine. Now he isn't in top form yet. City got a diamond, make no mistake about that.

You are correct in that you would expect Managers and Defenders to do all possible to work him out and snuff out his threat.
The trick is for Gabriel and his Coaches for club and country to continue to evolve his game because sure as hell they'll be trying.
I strongly believe that he will be a very important player over many years.

Yeah, there's good reason to feel this way. As a neutral, I am cautiously optimistic on his progression - his ceiling, for me, is quite high. It all dépends on how he develops, what sort of character & drive he has etc. - plus if he stays relatively healthy. The other factor will be where his best position ultimately be as I am not convinced he is purely a #9 or winger, I feel like he could play anywhere in an attacking lineup. That will be the trick for Pep, to best employ the talent he has and will recruit to get the most out of them.

I had a lot of debates with fellow cules about Gabigol vs Jesus but I was firmly in the Jesus camp - I loved his creativity and skillset. Continue to believe greater things are ahead for the player

This is part of the reason that I'm pretty confident that he'll continue to evolve.
He's from a great background in that he's come from poverty but with a great positive influence in his life (strong single mother) behind him. She and some of his pals have accompanied him to Manchester.

He's already achieved a lot in Brazil (Olympic Gold, League Title, Golden Ball Award, National Team Regular) but has quickly made the move to Europe.
He's a tough lad alright. Taken some horrible kickings in S America and responded by giving some back and also won many dangerous free kicks.
He probably won't be liked by opposing fans. He is a bit of a whiny mardarse with referees and has been known to fall over dramatically on occasion but that's the game I guess.

He can be a really great talent. Will be interesting to see which pair have a larger impact for their team (Sane,Jesus / Rashford, Martial). Right now it seems the City pair have a headstart

Really good today, should have had at least another one when he messed up and tried to square the ball for Kun but really good. Played all 3 front positions today.

I'm really interested to see how we go into the summer given the success of both Sane and Jesus. We essentially have 4 for 3 spots in Aguero, Sane, Jesus and Sterling, but I think we need to add one more in to the mix for it to work throughout a full season. Especially given the squad players Nolito and Navas will both most likely be leaving.

I'd let Roberts come back from Celtic and spend a year with the squad to assess him, see if he's good enough to get involved, and I'd just pay whatever Arsenal want to sell Sanchez to a PL rival. Suddenly you've got a front 6 to pick from that feels ridiculous, but it's achievable for £50m you'd expect.

Brazilian Thomas Muller

His productivity is mental: 7 goals and 4 assists in 651 minutes in the league. That is, a goal/assist every 59 min.

It's unreasonable to expect that he can be so productive over the course of a whole season though. Otherwise, he will be top 5 in the world already next season.

Going to go against the grain here and say while he obviously looks talented with a good eye for goal.

He will struggle next season with the famous 2nd season syndrome and have a similar season to Tony Martial this year.

Also I don't think he is the super talent others seem to.

I think the big difference between him and Martial is that I believe Pep will play him week in week out and not reduce him to a bit part role like has happened to Martial this season.

Do you think Martial would have struggled as much though if he were playing on a regular basis? I think that is so important for the development of young players and it can be difficult to get into a groove if you're in and out ofn the team regularly.

@Thunderhead @africanspur Good points on Martial and I do agree that consistent playing time is key to further continual development.

My belief still stands though that Jesus may struggle next season. I also expect city to invest heavily again and his playing time may not be as consistent as it has been since Jan.

With regards to his potential he is very clearly talented but from the small amounts I have seen I am struggling to see the huge ceiling that others predict him to have.

Otamendi is brain dead. You can see it in his play so this doesn't surprise me at all.

It was quite a nasty one. Wouldn't mind if it was a qualifier but a friendly. I'd hate to be Otter, first day back at training.

Turns out Gabby J is fine and has zero broken orbital bones.
