Gabriel Jesus | Arsenal

I'd say it's between him an David Silva. Tough to choose between them imo.

Ask any city fan and they'll say David Silva is there best ever player. Had he of played against us they probably would have beat us.

I'll probably take a bit of flak for this but I've always thought City fans were liable to over-rate Silva.

Undoubtedly an incredibly talented player, but I've always thought he could and should have added more goals to his games. A key part of why City were often irresistible going forward, but a level below Aguero and Toure for me.

Silva for me is the best player to pull on the shirt in my lifetime. Kun a close second. I kind of feel for Yaya, guy says all the right things in interviews and is a legend but his agents silly comments and Yaya's lack of putting manners on him have forever tarnished his legacy at City. Richard Dunne is clearly 4th (mabye not).

Interestingly Aguero is on course for his best ever goal return in a single season. The Jesus challenge seems to have raised is game.

On the pitch Yaya is the greatest for me, he just destroyed teams in a way Silva and Aguero can't

If Guardiola fecks off Aguero, he will then have 1 season to get it absolutely right.

What he did with Hart, and the subsequent hilarity of that Bravo fella, must've worn away a lot of faith in him throughout the squad and the fans.

Stones has been awful and was his man too.

If he fecks Aguero off, he'll then need to sort GK (again), new CB (again) and a first choice CF that can match Aguero over a whole season...

That could well be Jesus - but imagine the pressure of losing ALL Aguero's goals over a whole season...

I think he's done a really poor job there thus far, his decisions and squad management remind me of LvG.

Nah don't think so

4 starts in the PL, 4 goals, huge bargain for them at 27m

Despite the goal he was very, very poor today. Hopefully its him shaking off the rust.

Aguero was much worse, only gave him service twice and it should've been 2 goals if not for luck

Aguero tracked back, got in 4 or 5 tackles and had at least 20 more touches on the ball than Jesus. Aguero was superior to Jesus in every way today. Was literally a man vs a boy. He made his goal and stuck away the penalty too.

Jesus offered nothing bar the goal. Aguero put him through earlier too a really heavy touch let the ball run to the CB.

"Man vs boy" come on man, Aguero did nothing special today.

The problem with this season's Aguero is that he holds on to the ball too much. I noticed that on one counter attack he decided to shoot with both Sane and Sterling open and their body language was "Oh this selfish guy again"

I think if Jesus didn't get injured you guys would've been looking at a much better season, possibly beating Monaco. I'm not saying he's already better than Aguero but he has better chemistry with the young wingers and they feed off each other.

Im not so sure just look at Augero's goal record since Jesus injury. He has saved them on a few occasions and there is no guarantee Jesus could have done that.

I have only seen Jesus play a few times and most of those where cameo substitute appearances

It is obvious that he is very, very sharp in the penalty area and in that respect he reminds me of a Javier Hernandez type

What I haven't seen (not necessarily because it isnt there or because it won't develop in time) is his ability to lead the line

True, but they looked a better side with Jesus in the front 3 before the injury. Doesn't mean it would have lasted though

Pep Guardiola doesn't want a conventional striker to lead the line. In his vertical position play, a #9 that stays to high up will lead to problems in the structure all over the pitch for Manchester City.

If Manchester City utilise a 4 3 3 then the striker needs to be part of the midfield diamond in order to maintain that numerical superiority in the midfield with is the essence of executing his game plan optimally. Jesus makes better decisions with his back to goal so the midfielders and wingers will be able to be brought into play quicker. City pin their opposition back in almost all their games so a #9 leading the line in a conventional sense is not needed.

The man has incredible eye for a goal. To get back from such injury and immediately score what would've been a winner against us (thank god for offside), and a point-saving late goal against Middlesbrough... Hopefully he'll not get as good as promise to be

Aguero did nothing special and he still stood out far more than Jesus.
Long term Jesus is the future but yesterday a half fit Jesus was terrible, goal aside. Aguero was easily our most dangerous player despite his shooting boots been wayward the last couple of games. Yesterday Aguero had the ball 57 times to Jesus 27, of those 57 Aguero was only dispossesed 6 times. He had 41 successful passes to Jesus 19.
I'm not writing the lad off on one game of course nor am I saying in general its man vs boy but yesterday it very much looked that way.

I don't get it. Kun is world class and has been one of if not the best strikers in the league for what, 5 seasons including this one and people are ready to throw him under a bus for some kid whose player 200 minutes of football. Kun is just clearly a superior player.

City have so many options up front now, Aguero and Jesus with De Brunye behind, the 433 with Sane and Sterling, even a 442. That's before you even get to Silva and Gundogan. Pep would be mad to get rid of Aguero in the summer.

Ay, fair enough if you think that. I think the whole team looked bad with that new formation Pep tried out, which cost you 3 points. Once the wingers came on, everyone looked better. Also remember Jesus hasn't touched a ball in over 3 months.

I've watched Jesus a lot in U20 and in Citeh. I think he potentially already has a better one-two game than Aguero. He likes to give backheel layoffs that speed up the attack. His first touch game is really good. His major problem is his third, fourth and fifth touch which Aguero is clearly better at. Aguero is a better solo artist who can create for himself. We all know Pep is not a fan of this type of playing style. That's also why I think Sane and Sterling will have a better chemistry with Gabriel, and when he was starting it certainly looked so.

No doubt he'll replace Serg as our main man and I'll put yesterday to a bad game. I have huge hopes for our front 3 (Sane and Jesus in particular) but have a feeling Sterling may end up playing 2nd fiddle to KDB for much of next season.
A front 3 of Sane--Jesus--Sterling or KDB has plenty of years though so I'm happy to have them.

He also looked before the injury and I'm sure will again much more a Pep player, not nearly as selfish as Kun and as you say better at 1-2's especially laying the ball off back to goal and has his head up much more than Sergio. I also think a fit Jesus works harder than a fit Kun even though Sergio has made huge strides in this area of his game since he got dropped. 3 years of Pelligrini allowing our forwards to as Thomas Muller put it "sit on deck chairs at the half way line" has meant all our forwards have had to adapt to the press, and Kun has found it hardest.
Despite all Kun's goals I believe Jesus has a better knack of being in the right place at the right time to score rebounds and tap ins etc...

I think Aguero has maybe next season again as top dog but he won't be first choice when he's 30 and I'd imagine will be gone. Hopefully he'll get the 200 goals for City before he moves on. In fairness to Kun he's made huge adaptations to his game under Pep, not only the tracking back, but he now makes near post runs to finish wingers cutbacks, something City fans constantly gave out about before.

What I believe will really see the end of Kun and rise of Jesus at City is, Kun is too easy going and Jesus seems a real pro in attitude. For Aguero change and hardwork are all new to him at 28 and something that doesn't come easy because of his easy going nature.

Without doubt. I'm constantly arguing how good Aguero is and its weird watching our own fans turn on him this season. The guy has 31 goals this season and is going to have his best return ever but he's one of the scapegoats whose going to carry the can for the team underperforming as a unit.

But... its clear he struggles with Pep's system and only the last couple of months has really bought into the Pep way. Lampard described him as too casual, turning up late for training and laughing about the fines saying "it'll all be forgotten when I get a hattrick on Saturday". This kind of thing won't fly with Pep. I also think he struggles with the press because he worries about his hamstrings constantly and doesn't like sprinting from a standing start anymore. He'll always scored goals and always will but his all around game of doing what Pep demands of him has improved hugely since his benching. He tracked back more times vs Boro yesterday than in 3 seasons under Pellers. I think he'll keep Jesus as no.2 and rotate next season but it will be his last. He'll break the record, score his 200th City goal and I think at age 30 he'll head back to Argentina. Its just seems to be his nature.

He's performed well so far.

Goal/assist every 61 minutes in the league. Hit the ground running.

Not yet the time to Jesus to replace Aguero...while being prolific, most of his goals were the result of Sane-Sterling efforts. He still plays like a poacher...Aguero at his peak could do all the work...dribbling, shooting, being a wall, defending, assist...

However, next season with the maturity of Sane and Sterling, and also KdB (which is surely become Silva replacement), Jesus will be score more than he is now...But I doubt his style of play will change like Aguero...

Just my 2 cents...actually I don't really care, since he is city player...

I feel tempted to bet on him winning the golden boot next season. Unless he gets another injury I can see him taking the league by storm next season.

I don't think he'll play enough. If we keep Sergio, Jesus will have to rotate, play on the wing at times and share the goals. He'll never rack up the number of goals being pushed all over the pitch, plus this is Pep so don't bet against him getting a run beside Stones in centreback. He won't play as a no.9 enough to outscore Kane, Lukaku (if he plays up top for Chelsea or Everton) or whoever Jose brings in as his no.9 (Morata?)

His general play outside the box isn't all that.

Rashford 5 goals in PL / 1700 minutes played
Jesus 6 goals in PL / 460 minutes played

Looks a talent, but then again I'm hardly surprised given the fuss.

City bagged a diamond.

His general play outside the box isn't all that.
I'm starting to think this way as well. He'll need to have a ridiculous goal to game ratio to make up for it if he's to be considered in the elite bracket.
He seems to be Iheanacho with a sexier name attached

His all around play outside the boxs looked better for the NT and Palmerias but I'm glad with his contribution for City so far.

It's weird. I'm yet to see a facet to his game that makes me think, 'oh shit, this guys a talent'.

Yet he's a really good finisher. Right place, right time and all that. Looking forward to seeing him next season.
