GAA Championships 2016

Very rarely watch gaa

It was an exciting half, but for a final can they not keep their discipline a bit better?

Imagine a footballer behaving like that in a cup final. You would be disgusted with them. I'm all for a good scrap, but when it's not helping your side win...surely it's a bad thing?

If we saw the same level of tensity and passion in an FA Cup final you might see players finding it hard to control their emotions too.

You really gotta win the first game when you're the underdog.

Ah well.
dubs are the best team in the country. Certainly not as untouchable as some make out, pushed to the pin of their collar by Kerry and twice by Mayo.

The keeper decision cost Mayo big time.

Dublin had the little bit more quality in the attacking third of the pitch. And had help from the Mayo goalie.

Good match. Bit scrappy, but good.

Mayo gifted them 1-1. The penalty. Plus a mayo player blocked a free from around 3 yards away and it ended up being much easier.

Usually story from them.

I hate saying "what if," but what if the goalie had not fumbled that ball.

The goalie was involved in about 1-4 given away.

Pretty much.

I think had he not fumbled the ball for the penalty, they probably would have won. They had the Dublin forwards rattled bar the last 15 minutes and then space started to appear because Mayo were looking for scores.

I'm genuiely gutted for Mayo. It's a sicking feeling. No more than my own county in the hurling I beginning to think that maybe it's just not meant to be now. My dream would be for Mayo and Galway to bring Liam and Sam across the Shannon in the same year...

I feel for Mayo. They just can't seem to get over the line. They were every bit as good as Dublin over 2 games. But they had their chances both days.

Hard argue with the Dubs winning. They're a formidable outfit. It's hard not to admire them. Even their villain, Connolly is exceptional footballer. Michael Darragh McAuley is very unlikable though and surely the worst footballer ever to win footballer of the year. But that's for another day.

Some game yesterday. We just had that bit more coming off the bench.

Cillian O'Connor shouldn't be missing that free at the end.

Cos I can't stand the bastards.
You hate everything

You might be even more negative than Rossi

Every post I read from you is expressing your utter hatred or dissatisfaction or disappointment

You must be a great laugh.

Same here, but completely different emotions. Congrats on the win, enjoy it

You guys must have a pain in your arse at this point. Winning back to backs was huge for Dublin, almost as sweet at the first win in this run back in 2011. Comiserations to Mayo, I do feel for ye.

You're some tit.

A tit for not joining this Mayo love in. One of the most cynical sides over the past number of years, fans are the biggest shower of arseholes I've come across (my opinion) and after their behaviour in Limerick few years ago that strengthened my opinion, the only side in the country whose players seem to actively ask for yellow or black cards for the opposition, players hounded out a management team yet still found wanting when it matters. They wouldn't even have been in the final only for Aidan O Sheas disgraceful dive against the superpowers of Fermanagh. Everyone has at least one county they despise, mine is Mayo. Plenty of people despise my own county, doesn't bother me in the slightest.

Hard to sympathise to be honest, and I'm from Kildare and hate Dublin. Mayo had 2 chances against a Dublin side nowhere near their best and couldn't get over the line. Aidan O'Shea yet again fails to show up on the biggest stage. No intercounty footballer should be missing that free at the end regardless of pressure. No intercounty keeper should be dropping the ball in them circumstances. They shot themselves in the foot.

Make no mistake Dublin didn't play well over the 2 games and are a much better side (let alone squad) than Mayo. You have to take the chance to beat them when they play like this.

You better get frozen. I think this could happen in 2937.

I went looking for a GAA thread and gave up pretty quickly. Gutted not to be at home for this. Cuala are based on the road I grew up on. I was in school with half the team. What an achievement.

There won't be an almond milked in Dalkey tonight!
