The Dublin Westmeath result seems to have ignited a bit of a discussion about restructuring the championship. I see Colm O`Rourke giving out about it last night on the Sunday Game.
Anyone in favour? Could a Champions League style structure work?
32 is pretty much the perfect number to work with to do something different, but Im thinking old habits die hard and not a lot would be in favour of something a bit more radical.
P.s. I know London and NY make it 34 but still....
Something along the lines of 8 groups of 4, top two go into the senior All Ireland bottom two go into the intermediate. Have matches from both televised etc and promoted properly so that they are both competitve.I think eventually the championship will go the way of the hurling, two seperate All Irelands. That said a couple of years ago Connacht was the joke 1 horse province and now Galway have won it twice. Hard to know what to do. Bringing in a 2 tier championship will be poor for counties who want to develop.
Yeah especially if Lee Keegan injury is as bad as it looked, hope not though as he's a class act. Finally we play a bit of football. This Mayo team is so lethargic its frustrating. Lose to a poor Galway and make hard work of Derry. No way we progress past the last 8 at best.
Up to the rest to catch up. Can't wait to see them play Tyrone.Something has to be done to level the playing field with Dublin. Why didnt they split Dublin GAA into Dublin and Fingal?

One title down, on to the next one. Galway are a tough team. Still can't bring myself to actually hope for an All-Ireland though, burned too many times
Two titles down.
There's still 5/6 teams capable of winning this years All-Ireland. At the moment Galway are the ones in form and are playing shit hot Hurling. The power, pace, skill and wrist work is a joy to watch. Pure Hurling. That Lithuanian lad they brought in this year to work on the fitness and strength side of things has done some job on them. They difference between them and the rest of the teams I've seen Galway play this year has been really noticeable.
Young Conor Whelan blitzed Offaly the last day, Wexford stick two lads on him yesterday then up steps Conor Cooney and hits 7 points from play past them. Then we have Canning, who there is no answer too. I'd hate to be an oppo manager now trying to figure out how to tie down a Galway attack that has clocked up 2 goals & the guts of 100 points in their last 3 games.
Fingers crossed we'll finally do it this year.

Didn't actually see the game yesterday but Mayo seemed to struggle with a very poor Derry team who Tyrone, genuine AI contenders ran rings around which says a lot.
8 fecking points 10 mins to go and Waterford blow it, do they ever not choke against them in the championship, considering this is probably the worst cats team in 20 years
Delighted seeing Kilkenny knocked out, the cocky feckers. I thought Waterford had absolutely bottled it.
Impossible to say who's going to win the Hurling now.
From a Galway perspective I'll be hoping for either Tipp or Waterford in the Semi. Tipp, we owe one big time after being robbed in last years Semi and who'll be going into a Semi against a seriously inform and hungry Galway side without being seriously tested yet or Waterford who I'd say yesterdays performance will take a lot out of them and just won't be able to pull off another performance like that again this year.
Great weather in Salthill for the Connacht Football Final, I'm parked here on the promenade n0w looking out at Galway Bay. I don't think there's a better setting on a fine, dry day like today for a GAA match in the country.
Gaillimh Abú
Roscommon were from back to front the better team. Well done to them.
A bit of an upset
A bit I suppose. I'll be honest and tell you I don't really care. Hurling is all I care about.
Speaking of Hurling, I'm mighty impressed with Cork. Glad I backed them to win Munster back in March when I saw them beat Tipp in the League. They're a seriously skillful and pacey outfit and such a young team. The Rock O'Sullivan & Kingston has done a might job with them in the last year.

Ah no. See the day I had yesterday watching Armagh. Heart was in the mouth and I wouldn't trade it for anythinng.Just scrap the Football Championship altogether. It's a pure joke now.

Play the hurling as a blitz while they're at it, sure there's only the few teams in it anyway.
