GAA 2015

So Kildare yet again have the honour of playing Dublin. It's a funny thing when a good result in a game would be getting within 15-20 points of your opponent. Can't see any way we can stay anywhere near them to be honest, their second 15 would beat us.

Funnily enough I can't hate this Dublin team, they are bloody awesome. Despite Kerry winning last year I've always maintained that Dublin were the best team in the country and a good step above their closest rivals. Sad to think Leinster could be sown up by them for another few years to come too but hats off to them.

Lovely evening for the Galway v Laois clash in Tullamore. God only knows what Galway team will turn up, if it's the team that blitzed the jackeens well then Chedders Laois will be in trouble. Hard to know though, capable of blitzing anyone on the their day but still by far the most consistent inconsistent team in the land. Cunningham has made a few changes from the last day. Niall Healy is in at corner forward for Jason Flynn (broken finger), Andy Smith goes to centre field while Davy Burke replaces Joe Cooney.

Half time here in Tullamore. Took Galway over a quater of an hour to get going, racking up 10 or 11 wides in the process. I was starting to get worried. I could nearly go home now though.

Galway 1-18 : 0-2 Laois

That was some walloping Tipp dished out to what has to be said a fierce poor Limerick side there today. I was full sure Limerick would have given a better account of themselves than that. Fair play to Tipp after though. It should be a cracker of a Munster Final now between themselves and a seriously in form and talented Waterford outfit.

In the earlier match Kilkenny weren't tested at all by a Wexford side that made some real stupid errors particularly in the backs. Hard to believe they've gone back so much in the space of 12 months. No more than the Munster final the Leinster final between Kilkenny and Galway is all set up to be a belter now too. Impossible to call either of them. Four teams in deadly form.

And the rest of the days results starting in Leinster and it was all football this weekend.

Meath 2-19 - 3-12 Wicklow
Westmeath 1-21 - 0-15 Wexford
Kildare 3-18 - 1-11 Laois
Laois 0-16 - 0-16 Kildare

Above in Ulster.

Armagh 0-08 - 2-11 Donegal
Derry 0-12 - 0-11 Down

And finally below in Munster.

Cork 1-20 - 1-08 Clare
Tipperary 2-08 - 2-14 Kerry

No real surprises there today. Meath might want to shore up their back line though or Westmeath might do a job on them the next day though.

22 meeting between the sides in the Championship. Meath have 20 wins. Westmeath 0. 2 Draws.

Have big hopes this could be our first ever win next Sunday.

I was in actually in Meath having a couple of beers for the match. The locals went bananas. I thought they were going to kick the shite out of each other.

Croke Park, sun splitting the rocks and two of the best hurling teams in the country about to tear into one another for a Leinster title, where else would a lad rather be in fairness.

Recent meetings between the two is sort of saying that it's probably going to be a belter too.

2014 Leinster Semi Final - Galway 5-16 (31) : 3-22 (31) Kilkenny

2014 Leinster Semi Final Replay - Galway 1:17 (20) : 3-19 (28) Kilkenny

2012 All Ireland Final - Galway 2-13 (19) : 0:19 (19) Kilkenny

2012 All Ireland Final Replay - Galway 3-11 (20) : 3-22 (31) Kilkenny

2012 Leinster Final - Galway 2:21 (27) : 2:11 (17) Kilkenny

2009 Leinster Semi Final - Galway 3:13 (22) - 2:20 (26) Kilkenny

2006 All Ireland Quarter Final - Galway 3:14 (23) – 2:22 (28) Kilkenny

2005 All Ireland Semi Final - Galway 5:18 (33) – Kilkenny 4:18 (30)

The Galway forward line with Manning, Flynn, Burke, Donnelan and Canning all fast, big physical powerful and skillful players is IMO anyways the best in the country at the moment if they click today or get enough ball fed up to them I can't see the Kilkenny back line holding them out. I think a lot might come down to how the Galway backs and Iarla Tannion in midfield who can be very suspect at times fair out today.

Samiches and flask in da boot.

Throw in 4pm.

Dirty day for the Hurling Quarter finals in Thurlas.

Impossible to call but I'd be swaying towards Waterford getting their act together again and beating Dublin and Galway having a bit to much for Cork.

What time is Galway v Cork on?

Edit: Never mind, I stopped being lazy and googled it.

I think the Dubs will do it.

For the sake of two entertaining semi finals I hope they do. I don't like this defensive type hurling Waterford are at in recent months. But apart from the recent Tipp match it's been working for them and the Dubs who are a team I love watching when in top gear are all over the shop this year. Who knows though they might find form today.

Waterford kicked on in the 2nd half. Dublin should revert back to the quick, skilful hurling they played under Daly. Trying to take on or match physical teams like Galway and Waterford backfired big time on them this year.

They're gone now anyways and it'll be interesting to see who'll be joining them this evening.

Strange sort of a game with the way it's just so open and the amount of space and time players from both sides are having. Cork are lucky enough to be gone in only 4 points down though, Canning has missed 3/4 handy ones. He did the same thing in the first half v Dublin, came out in the 2nd have and tore them a new one. It's a do or die job now.

Galway 2:28 (34) Cork 0:22

And that was with Galway hitting 19 wides 10 of which were from Canning who had a rare off day.

All-Ireland Semi-Finals:

Galway v Tipperary
Waterford v Kilkenny

Enjoyed that. Very hard to find somewhere to watch it online here but got it eventually. Very impressive performance by Galway. Under no illusion that it will lead to a heart-wrenching, inevitable collapse either next round or in an gutting final :D

:nono: There'll be no collapse. This is our year. The time has come.

If they can pull off a performance like that in a final, he can say what he fecking b**s**tin' wants as far as I'm concerned..

Early days yet but are we after doing the impossible and coming across a teenage or another fecking Joe Canning?! It was some debut in fairness and it's not like he appeared out of nowhere either. Going by his performances in schools and underage a lot of people and particularly around here in Gort and Kinvara knew there was something special about him.

Meet Galways latest teen sensation....

Only thing for the Semi now is that he's known, there'll be no element of surprise and Tipp will rattle him before the sliotar is thrown in. Hopefully he'll weather it and let his speed and skill do the talking.

Doubt there'll be any shocks on the cards this weekend. I'll still throw the price of a few pints on Galway though, they always seem up their game when they get to Croke Park and could snare a Donegal outfit with a few question marks hanging over them this year.

Today

Sligo v Tyrone 4pm

Donegal v Galway 6pm

Tomorrow

Kerry v Kildare 2pm

Dublin v Fermanagh 4pm

If the rumours about Michael Murphy's absence are true, Galway have a real chance. I fancied Donegal -2, but I think I'll be waiting for word on Murphy's fitness before I make any contact with Partrick Power.

I think Tyrone should make easy work of Sligo. Sligo had a good performance to beat Roscommon, but Mayo really showed where Sligo are. I know Tyrone don't have an attack like Mayo's but they should have enough to easily cover the -7 the bookies are giving them.

Kerry v Kildare is a little trickier. Kildare put in a great performance against Cork and people are billing it as a potential banana skin for Kerry. But having seen Kildare in the flesh getting annihilated by Dublin and really struggling to beat a poor Offaly team I just can't see how they can beat Kerry. I'd have Kerry to win this with a few points to spare.

Dublin were shite against Westmeath. Won't happen again. They win easy against Fermanagh.

No shocks. Damn all between Donegal and Galway up until the 60th min, then that 2nd Donegal goal went in. Heads dropped all over the place and it was all over.

I only listened to the Tyrone, Sligo match on the radio while doing a bit of a work out above in the pitch and from what I could gather I think I broke more of a sweat myself than what the entire Tyrone team did.

No point anymore in watching or investing time in the Football Championship until the semi-finals.

Tyrone 0:21 - 0:14 Sligo

Donegal 3:12 - 0:11 Galway

It shows, even if the much talked about two tier system was brought in, you would still have plenty of one sided games. That being said, I am in favour of splitting the championship.

That first match was turgid stuff. Second slightly better but still. Heading in tomorrow.

Unless Kildare can find a huge performance, I'd expect tomorrow to be pretty similar to today.

Probably. But I'd expect a higher standard of forward play from Kerry and Dublin than what we saw today. Also I actually will care about tomorrow's games

That was maybe the worst performance I've ever seen against Kerry, I don't know how Kildare were so bad. Gooch was very good despite never really trying after he went down early. Worrying signs about O'Donoghue too but hopefully it's alright. Darren O'Sullivan's pace is fierce!

As for the Dublin match, 50 minutes of a snooze fest really, Brian Fenton's passing looked great. And then Quigley livened it all up with that goal, never laughed so hard in my life. Cluxton's head goes too easily, hence the second goal. Fermanagh fans were absolute class too, they've won a lot of admirers today.

Dublin very organized in attack, lose their heads a bit at the back though. Cooper is a thug. Glad them and Mayo are on the same side of the draw but Kerry need a decent challenge in the semi final.

Terrible prick acting in fairness. They've gone from Puke football to full blown blatant cheating up that neck of the woods, Spillane was right. Mayo done a nice demolition job on Donegal too, no harm either.

I hope if any lad try's that stunt in Hurling that the head or both ankles is cut off him fairly lively.

First of the Hurling Semi's today. Hard to see anything other than a Kilkenny win but you never know either I suppose Jackie Tyrrell is a massive loss for Kilkenny if Waterford go out with all guns blazing they could do it.

A Waterford v Galway final would be something else. Croker could be filled 10 times over!

Waterford playing well in the senior. Now they just need to not let Kilkenny get their traditional early second half goal or two.

And there we have it, another year and another AI final with the black and amber involved.

Waterford never got over that TJ Reid goal in the first half.

Only Tipp or Galway left to stop them Kilkenny now and either of them are capable of doing it too. That should be an absolute belter of a semi next Sunday. I can't fecking wait for it.

Easy enough win for Kilkenny in the end, Waterford never looked like getting a goal.
