GAA 2014

He's comes across as a bit of a bollix alright but I'd ride his misses Jackie though, fine bit of gear for her age god bless her.

Yeah Bill Cullen ain't anything to do with Renault anymore guys - Jealous or what

Question for you - Which County team had most tweets last year concerning a Gaa game?

Look, it wouldn't matter a shite if it was feckin' Ferrari beyont in Italy that was sponsoring ye, ye'd still win sweet feck all and that's the plainest way of putting it to you now. There's only one team worthy of wearing the maroon and white in this country and they're the lads sponsored by Pat McDonagh's Supermac's and that'll be led onto the battlefields this year by Big Joe.

The answer to your question was Clare and the majority of the tweets were concerning a heap of young ones wondering if Clare's Shane O'Donnell was doing a line with anyone or if he was on the market. From what I've heard he is supposed to have three quarters of Clare and half of south Galway rode since the minute his 3rd goal hit the net in the final. He'll be lucky to get a sniff of the sliotar this year though when Fergal Moore gets a hold of him, I guaranfeckintee you that.

Again lets talk Fact - The first County to wear Maroon was Westmeath- Galway used always play in all White until Boxer Early's Mother put a Red sock sock of Boxers in with the wash along with a heap of Galway all White Jerseys out the back of her cottage in Tuam circa 1942. With cotten been rationed during the War, Galway were forced to wear the off White Jersey's until Hitler was overthrown in 45. Galway kept to the now chosen Maroon Colour as O'Neills had got a job lot of the stuff from Bangalore that summer and was 50% cheaper then the white.

In relation to the Tweet - A one Niall Horan Tweeted "Standing at Cusack Park Watching My Team - Now I'm Home #WestmeathGAA" in February 2013 against Louth in Div2 of the All Ireland League. Needless to say WestmeathGaa beat any other fecking county for Gaa tweets last year and probably put GAA on the map globally. #iarmhiabu

You seriously celebrating a Wednesday Night McKenna cup game?

Relaying the score baz. the 'GOAL!' was copied from the live score feed I've got. It's not often we'd give our old enemy such a hiding in any game. It's 5-16 - 0-6 now, that's a 25 point spread over one of the biggest rivals we have. I'm sure looking at the score we must be playing a team of kids and we have pretty much our full strength team out but it's nicer to be on this side of it than the receiving end.

Armagh are not the force they used to be(obviously), so its not a huge surprise. Clearly a surprise that it was such a hammering, but this Armagh team are no great shakes at all. Probably had a bunch of kids out too and their best forward-Jamie Clarke- is away galavanting til the Summer I think. Big into the fashion that lad, which probably makes him stick out like a sore thumb up in Cross.

I don't remember Tyrone ever putting up such a score. It's more like a hurling match than a game between two Ulster football counties.

Thats true I suppose. Did you see the team sheets anywhere?

Armagh team:
Philip McEvoy; Andy Mallon, Charlie Vernon, Paul Hughes; Mark Shields, Tony Kernan, Ciaran Rafferty; Ethan Rafferty, James Lavery; Eugene McVerry, Kyle Carragher, Stefan Forker; Robbie Tasker, Jamie Clarke, Niall McConville.

Tyrone:Morgan,McCrory,McNamee,Tierney,McGinley,Harte,McNabb,McBride,Grugan,E McKenna,McGuigan,Lavery,McNeice,Donnelly,ONeill

Ah jays, there's Jamie Clarke there, mustve come back recently. Not as bad a team as I wouldve thought to be honest.

TBF, we were pretty much at full strength and at home. Got off to an amazing start so their heads must have just dropped.

Big hammering for Armagh there. Who is their manager now?

Lets cut to the chase - Mickey Harte don't allow his players play for colleges and wants them running in top gear start of January. He talks about promoting the game and getting rid of Continental Rules yet fails to allow the GAA experiment with the Colleges. He is all about self promotion and putting up a Cricket score on a Wet Wednesday night is fooling no one.

I didnt know that but to be fair to him it's not like he has a massive group of players to choose from.

Yeah, I disagree with his stance on that like I do on a lot of other things. If you kept up with last years thread you'd know I'm no longer his biggest fan.

That said, Tyrone have a tough year ahead to get any meaningful silverware and we have to play 4 games in Ulster to win it with the prelim round. Getting to know his new players and young lads is pretty important I suppose.

I thought McGeeney would go there following his departure from Kildare.
Hes involved someway, I think as a selector. Only a matter of time before he's the manager I'd say.

That was a fair bullet of a shot alright.

A more or less 2nd string Galway team came back from being 7 points down at one stage to beat a good young up and coming Offaly team in Tullamore yesterday. Cunningham was doing some serous experimenting and it's no harm either, although saying that there was a fair injury list so he sort of had no choice too. Three lads from my own club Gort got a start and a cousin of mine Adrian Tuohy from Beagh got a quarter of an hour at the end. None of them did themselves any harm at all and it was a nice enough win in the end. Not long to go now before the league starts up, Dublin being up first at Pearse Stadium.

Offaly 1-13 : 1:14 Galway

Not too many well known names there for sure.

I'm delighted with how things went in Ulster for the weekend. Cavan and Tyrone make just about the only possible interesting final from my pov with my missus hailing from Cavan. It's also nice that Cavan seem to be carrying on the good form they showed last year. If they can have a few decent seasons they could really push on to that top bracket I feel.

Cavan had a good minor team a few years back yeah? I think if they could bring a few of them lads through it would really stand to them.

I was reading this morning Mickey Harte's interview about the final next week. He refers to the 3 recent Ulster U21's that they have and the fact that they seem to be a side very much on the up. In a county with the history and tradition on Cavan who are GAA obsessed it's hard to believe they were so poor for so long. They do seem to be bringing in people that never got the chance before and mixing old heads with youth and fearlessness. It was great to see last year too because they played a style of football that was really easy on the eye.

Mickey Harte says Tyrone are looking forward to facing Cavan in next Saturday's McKenna Cup final at Brewster Park.

The Red Hands are seeking a third title in-a-row at the expense of a Breffni team that has surprised many by making it this far.

"It's a new side for us to play, we haven't played them for a number of years now at this level," the Tyrone manager told the BBC.

"They're an emerging team, they have three Ulster U21 titles behind them the last number of years. They done well in last year's qualifiers and they have declared they would like some silverware."

Harte admitted that Tyrone rode their luck in yesterday's three-point defeat of neighbours Derry.

"We opened very well, and looked to be coasting, but Derry had other ideas. They pulled themselves back into the game and probably dominated the exchanges," he added.

"Across the whole 70 minutes, they probably had more scoring opportunities than we had, but they just weren't too good in front of goals. If they had been a bit better, especially in the first half, then it would have been a different

Yeah the little skillful player they had up top can be a game winner on his day and the ginger lad from half back has some engine on him. I'd say they will be good in Ulster for a few years yet and if they can bring through the youngfellas then they really would be contenders.

I hate him. He's a complete agenda driven twat and his behaviour last year was unforgivable? If he said that about a kerry or Dublin player he'd have been forced to apologise or even kicked off the show.

Jason Whelan got suspended for 8 weeks for biting. Horrible stuff, and I'd probably just drop him from the panel for the year.

Myself and a few lads I play a bit of junior C soon to be junior B hurling with got a bit of a dart last night in the Galway Astro 7's football (soccer) league when we were waiting for a team called the Caltra Bies 7th player to step onto the pitch for kick-off and discovered it was the mighty two time All-Ireland and All star winning Declan Meehan, we had a fair idea travelling in to Galway in the car that they might be a shower of Gaelic footballers as Caltra is deep in the footballing part of the county but to think Declan Meehan would be one of them didn't come into our heads at all. Built like a tank and fit as feck covering every blade of grass on the pitch there was no stopping him though and a strange but at the same time a nice enough experience going up against him too. We wend 4 nil up and ended up losing 10-6!

He made a few appearances last year and looked a good ball player but jesus, biting? He's lucky to just get 8 weeks.
