Gaa 2012

The problem with Brolly's point is that he seems to only place value in an All-Ireland that's won the hard way or, more specifically, by a point or two.

He said that Kerry couldn't handle it when teams went toe-to-toe (or words to that effect) with them. That's wrong. Mayo and Cork went toe-to-toe with them and were annihilated. But an annihilation on the biggest stage isn't of any merit to Brolly- you need to win in a slugfest to prove yourself.

It's a bollocks point, made by a bollocks. And Spillane made himself look like a bollocks by getting precious about it.

So even Joe Brolly knows more than De Selby

Did we really only beat Laois by 3? Felt like more. Thank feck for that ref.

We have to thank all the other refs for getting rid of Kerry, Kildare, and Down.

Now to make sure Donegal beat Cork.

Yeah BP. Wouldnt be at all surprised if we lost to Mayo. They are quite skillful from what I saw, but they maybe dont have the mentality/fitness/strength to see it through. We should beat them, but we'll need to improve vastly.

Horan is a good manager. I thought he was a great player too and has Mayo playing solidly, like McGuinness has Donegal.

You have to worry about Mayo facing one of the bigger teams in GAA and that's what could be the clincher for Dublin.

Losing Moran is a big blow for them.

They were shocking against a poor Sligo team.

U21 1984 Cork 0-9 Mayo 0-6
U21 1983 Mayo 1-8 Derry 1-5

It doesn't back my gut feeling that Mayo may shade it against the Dubs, especially as they now get more oppoutunities for lower level opposition in QFs at Croke Park....just pointing out their mental block as it was.

Both semi finals are very difficult to call for different reasons. Dublin and Mayo haven't been that impressive at all this year and it'll depend on which team turns up on the day. The two best teams in the country are in the other semi, both in form and have been consistent right throughout the campaign to date. Its hard to look beyond either Cork or Donegal winning the All Ireland atm.

True, but good against a decent Down team. We'll beat them, but its not as if we have been class recently. We'll win, but it wont be as easy as some say it will. However, if we play to our absolute best, we should crush them and win the final.

All Ireland SHC Semi Final

All Ireland SHC Semi Final
Tipperary v Kilkenny, Croke Park

I'm heading back to Holland next week and will miss the Tipp/KK game, unless I'm lucky enough to be near a good pub.......

Cork have disappointed since early showings this year, so I will plump for Galway despite their long wait.

Tipp have had a longer wait and I think that that will be their greatest enemy as Kilkenny's 'backlash' never materialised against Limerick (keeping powder dry?). I think Tipp have been improving all year and as of now, expect them to reach this year's final.

Dublin are a better side then Donegal.

Haven't had a good Championship, but if Dublin turn up, they can beat anyone.

Fixed.

Its gloves off now. The semis is all Dublin are needed for, coz Croker will be full anyway for the final......so don't need the blue horde to fill 'er up.

Sadly Papi, it's more than just the turnstiles that generate money, so alas ...

There was a few doubts about Cyril Donnellan (scored 6pts from play against KK) being fit for Galway on Sunday as he chipped a bone in his elbow against the Galway intermediates a few weeks ago.

Well I can tell ye now lads, Cyril Donnellan took part in a full training session last night and word on the grapevine is that he will start on Sunday. Thanks be to the mother of Jaysus.

I've just got two lovely tickets this evening as well, lower Hogan section 331 right in the middle, great seats. Unfortunately Barrys don't have any feckin' rooms left for Saturday night.... going to have to make a flask of tae and a blast of ham samiches now and drive up Sunday morning.

Gaillimh Abú!

give me one of your tickets and you can stay with me!!

Heading in to Croker on Sunday. And the Sunday after that. And after that. And after that. And after that. But then I think its the women's, so I may give that sunday a miss. But then back in after that.

I love this time of the year!

great news bout CD!.....heading up myself.

Why not use Citylink bus(comfy & on-board toilet), hourly direct service to & fro, 2hrs & 20mins to city centre, €18 return......... way cheaper than driving + no parking fees/hassle + can have a few pints!
I used it for leinster final , found it brilliant. Think web address is; www.citylink.ie! ;)

ps; "Go-Bus" provide similar service.

Fecking missed it. The minor semi looked like it must have been a great one 4-14 2-17.

Canning scored 0-11, so really living up to his billing. Tipp have a harder ask next week, being 7 weeks out of action and facing Kilkenny. They will have to hit the ground running and I will have to find a pub in Amsterdam in which to watch it.

Good win alright McG, no doubt about it. Galway were slow enough to get out of the blocks though and it wasn't really until the 45th minute or so that they decided to flick on up through the gears. Canning was unreal once again, the Cork tactics of doubling up on him and trying to take him out of the game failed miserably as he was just too skillful and too strong for them. Him scoring that free from 75 odd yards out and at an angle too after he had to get treatment from being leveled by the two Cork lads was a cracker, he really is a joy to watch.

Can't wait for the final now, I'm hoping it'll be against Tipp due to the rivalry between the two counties particularly up around Portumna. But no matter who it'll be against Galway will have to up it a level or two based on yesterdays performance.

Great match to look forward to tommorow with Kilkenny v Tipp in the 2nd hurling semi-final.

Hard enough to call but I'm sort of swaying towards Tipp. They have the players to beat Kilkenny and I think they'll be that bit hungrier etc they'll want to get revenge for what happened in last years final where it could be said a fair few of their players were below par. Saying that Kilkenny could do what they have done so many times in the past to teams and make bits of them!

Tipp are a good bet though.

Kilkenny 4/6
Draw 10/1
Tipperary 6/4

Great promo video for the match.

Galway minors are in the semi as well against Tipp, it would be mighty to have both the minors and the seniors lining out in the final at Croker on Sept. 9th.

And next weekend the Galway U21's are taking on Kilkenny down in Thurlas again in the semi final, I'll be heading to that with the help of god. We could have 3 finals to look forward to here in the west yet!

Kilkenny 15 up. Paul Curran rode today. The GAA have ti seriously questio the rationale of provincisl champions waiting 6 or 7 weeks for a game. Galway have a lot to answer for!

Not saying it might have mattered in the end but them tactics by Declan Ryan and the Tipp management today was a total feck up. Lar Corbett one of the best forwards in the country was sent out to mark Tommy Walsh, that was a forward marking and running around the place like a clown after a back? No wonder he didn't manage to get a single shot on goal. Tipp as a team completely lay down in the 2nd half, went in a point up at half time and lost by 18 in the end.

It'll be a different story with the Galway forwards and team as a whole though, I can't see Canning running around like a clown after the Kilkenny backs, there'll more than likely be 2/3 Kilkenny backs running around after him which in turn will free up the likes of Hayes, Burke and Donnellan etc. I doubt Galway will resort to dirty hurling and trying to get lads sent off either like Tipp did today. I don't know how Maher didn't get sent off today.

Kilkenny are raging hot favourites for the All Ireland now but like i said in the build up to the Leinster final it'll be a lot closer than some might think. The smart money at 3/1 (paddy power) will be on Galway. They did it already this year, they can do it again.

C'mon Galway, 26 years is too long!

It has the makings of a good final alright McG, 2 best teams in the country I reckon taking part in it. For any team to beat the Cats once could be considered a huge achievement but to beat the feckers twice in the space of a few months would be unreal altogether.

A lad that would be well up in Galway hurling has promised me 2 tickets for the Hill so fingers crossed.

This Cork-Donegal match is shaping up well for the second half. I would have fancied Cork to win, but Donegal are 1 point up 0-8 0-7.

I have tickets for next week, so please God all will go well getting there!

Donegal won by 2. The second half was really shaping up great after about 10 minutes, end to end stuff. If O'Neill had scored the early second half goal-chance, we could have had a real cracker. Donegal progress to only their second All Ireland final. They will play either Dublin ('92 final) or Mayo ('92 semifinal).

My club avoided relegation playoffs for the first time in 3 years, so all is good as we go into Round 3 of the SFC.

Alan Brogan back for Sunday! Could tip the title back in our favor.

Donegal are a serious serious fecking team. Physically and mentally, they are rock solid. In a funny way, I nearly hope that Dublin get through because it could be a cracking final. Mayo have made good strides under Horan, though you would worry for their mental strength in another final.

As it is, for POTY, I would say McFadden is looking very good.

Hopefully be a good game this Sunday. We'll miss Andy Moran badly in the full forward line but hopefully Dillon can keep his form up and we can move Cillian O'Connor inside to win some ball. Could do with a big game from Alan Freeman if he comes in, but not holding out too much hope on that.

If we can start well then I'd give us a serious chance. A bad start and Dublin will coast home I reckon.

Hoping we do our warm-up down the Hill end again!

If Dublin turn up it wont matter what Mayo do. I think Dublin v Donegal would bea better final. But who knows, Mayo could be champs in 4 weeks
