Gaa 2012

All in me Nannies back kitchen pal

I played for Down u12s or u14s, can't remember exactly, when I was a school kid. Shane King went around schools picking the best players and I got picked, played Centre Midfield. Sadly, training was over an hour and a half away from me and my parents just stopped taking me because it was too far to travel twice a week and every Saturday.

That's my only GAA claim to fame.

Just back from the match, and feck me were we shite! Luckily we were playing Laois, or we would've lost with that performance. O'Gara is a bit of a donkey, Bernard Brogan hasnt looked good in ages, and we badly missed Alan Brogan. Mossy is a complete bottler, I knew he'd miss that free, and I actually shamelessly made a fiver off it from a bet with my mate. Kilkenny looked great when he came on. I saw him play in most of the minor matches last year, and judging on those games, and today's game, he's gonna be a star.

Need a much, much better performance if we are to beat Mayo.

Aye, but maybe that will focus training in the coming weeks. We traditionally flatten teams like Laois and then take the field against proper sides with too much cockiness.

O Gara is a disgrace, and has been every time I've seen him play.

This is my fist year as a non attending fan in a long time. I' waiting until we are shite again before I go back.

I played U13 hurling for Dublin. I think there were only 14 of us with sticks in the whole county back then though.

They gave everyone who could play at all a shirt. I think it was the beginning of trying to build the county into a hurling team. It took a while.

I think Mayo could be the Achilles heal for Dublin. You never know what type of team will turn up (against Cork last year vs Kerry 2006).

Dublin really need to shape up. McMannaman needs to be brought in for O' Gara, Connelly needs to cop on and play like we know he can but at least Alan Brogan will strengthen up the forward

Good man moses, hurling is a mans game and you along with the help of a few culchies including a cousin of mine (Gordon Glynn) did help in making Dublin a fair outfit today.

I think you might be overstating my role. A few months after that game I got the sharp end of a hurl in the cheekbone, got 6 stitches and took up club soccer. Still played for the school though, more trouble than it was worth to stop.

TV3 described Donegal as one of the most brilliantly-built teams in modern times. Is this general consensus out there ....of a team with a division 2 title and 2 Ulster titles in the past 5 years?

Did they not see them against Dublin last year? A disgrace.

An aul lad in the bar after the draw said it'd be a Dublin v Donegal final.

Ref booked McLoone and now Maguire, but Kerry's third man & rugby tackles being ignored. The standard of refereeing is fecking bullshite.

Are people really thinking Donegal can beat Kerry, Cork and Dublin all in a row?

Mayo would be easier at Croker.

Not on this performance so far, but Cork would be a different game. Kerry are a cynical side, but Cork have more fluidity about them.

Can never write them cnuts off.

Puke football to a new level.

I hope anybody bar Donegal wins it.

Just back from Croker. Delighted Kerry lost, though it wasnt a great match. Donegal will be very tough to beat, and I wouldnt be surprised if they went the whole way.

Yeah, O'Gara is shite. He had a good league, but has been his usual gobshite self in the championship.

Still not too confident against Mayo tbh. We need Alan Brogan back, and need both Brogans and Conolly to be on top form, and if they are we should win. Dublin-Cork final.

We owe Mayo. I live about 10 miles from the border so it would make my life a bit easier.
