Film FURIOSA (A Mad Max Saga)

The CGI looks fine.

Anyway, looking forward to this. Hopefully it continues in the same vain as Fury Road in being a relentless bombastic spectacle.
Yes! That should have been the tagline.
Miller apparently caught covid while directing on set which then caused a shutdown. Tbh I don’t know how much was done on set compared to location so maybe it’s not that big of an issue. But currently looks like when a video game can’t load all the assets in time.
A very good way to describe a lot of it.
Looking forward to the Clockwork Orange remake ‘Alex’.

I still think this idea has legs. I’d totally watch the early adventures of Alex.

The behind the scenes footage at times looks better.

That behind the scenes featurette was pretty great, an education. Thanks for sharing it. Those stunt performers and choreographers are incredible. Insanely technical. 76 days shooting on that one stowaway sequence, just mad. George Miller is one mad bastard. There really should be an Academy Award, BAFTA, AACTA, CSA for stunts. That hair and makeup get an Oscar and stunts don't is criminal.

I think the issue people have with their own eyes while watching this movie is that you can tell what is real (actors, cars) but the real shots are then given extensive CG work that removes the green fields (like in this featurette), removes wires, adds fireballs and smoke, and so on. So when you see it, you can't quite put your finger on what isn't working but you know something is off. Then I think there's a sense of maybe being tricked, like you see an awesome stunt (like when the car is bombed and flips up to land on the war rig) but wonder if any of it was real.

Also, never really was into Anya Taylor Joy but she won me over in this. It's a genuine shame this didn't make a lot of money because this kind of spectacle is not going to be risked again any time soon. $180 million budget.

This should've been the tagline, @Wing Attack Plan R.
That would guarantee some asses on seats!

Watched this and wish I had seen it in the cinema. Great action and lots of fun.
Hemsworth clearly had fun and his best stuff in a movie setting. This and for other reasons Ragnarok+IW are his best showings imo

I remember reading some article that the Oscar might be introduces a stunt section. They definitely deserve it. I think post John Wick people have been come to appreciate stunt performers more. It’s long overdue.

Agree. There’s too many scenes that are hyper unrealistic - Like the car hype or Anya Taylor Joy holding onto the bottom truck while the bike crashes under her. There’s a few moments like that in Fury Road but everything moves so quickly that isn’t not much of a issues.

I also wonder how much was down to Miller wanting a certain style. Originally FURIOSA started off as a comic book and the film has that look(Speed racer 2006 or Sin City cgi).

Yep it’s a shame. I saw it within the first week it opened and the cinema was almost empty. I think it ended up making some money back due to getting part of it’s budget from the Australia government(Although I might be wrong on this).

For all the faults I have with the film its far better than most stuff in the cinema.
