Fullbacks for the summer

Watching Robertson bomb on against City, we don't have anyone who can do that here, not with his pace and acceleration.

We really need a left and right back. Tierney gets my shout at left back.

People are so easily impressed by other teams' players. Valencia easily outpaced Robertson earlier in the season. Shaw is also faster. If you have space to run into, most players can look fast. We do miss someone who takes those supporting runs in attack, however. There I agree 100%.

Would our next RB be from any of these guys? :
  1. Sidibe (Monaco)
  2. Vrsaljko (Atleti)
  3. Weiser (Hertha Berlin)
  4. Henrichs (Leverkusen)
  5. Hysaj (Napoli)
  6. Odriozola (Sociedad)
  7. Toure (Monaco)
  8. Bellerin (Arsenal)
  9. Coleman (Everton)
  10. Fernandes (CSKA)
  11. Soares (Saints)
  12. Meunier (PSG)
  13. Ismaily (Shakhtar)
  14. Cancelo (Valencia)

What about Joshua Kimmich?

Can only truly say I’ve seen enough of only these 3 to comment and it’s a solid no thanks from me.

I predict that Luke Shaw will still be with the club next year along with Jose's earlier restoration project Ashleigh Young. Both will probably be backups although I wouldn't be surprised to see Luke pull it together and win the LB spot for United and England for several years.

I hope so, He's now had plenty of time to get over the physical and mental issues of his injury and if still here, I expect him to show what he can do.

From what I’ve seen personally I’d say Sidibe or Odriozola.

Add Meunier to the list. Definitely not Bellerin or Coleman. I like Sidibe though. Think he'd be suited to PL.

I hope not. I will rather play Young at RB and get someone ( may be Philipp Max) for the left side.

How about the 2 Portuguese wing-backs joao cancelo & raphael guerreiro?

Two new wingbacks would absolutely transform our side. Valencia and Young might seem okay for the odd game, but when you sit down and watch a team with good fullbacks you realize what the team is missing.

This, heck just someone who doesn’t want to cut back all the time on the left. The amount of dangerous openings that aren’t exploited just because Young won’t attack the space is frightening.

Valencia is so shite, it's unreal that he is still here stinking the place up as first choice RB.

Oh good God PLEASE let us buy some new fullbacks in the summer. Valencia and Young are...ah sod it, I can't be arsed anymore.

We need both sides, Valencia and Young shouldn't be starting for Man United. Did Valencia once try and beat his man today, Young looking for the cut back. It really isn't the quality you need for any team looking to play CL football. You don't need workhorses, you need quality full backs who are young and in there prime to deliver and defend.

I'm glad people are to come to their senses about Valencia, he needs replacing ASAP! Him and Young are both as bad as each other. Not one of them took the ball to line and crossed it. It's just a pitiful watching.

We can't really judge the likes of Martial, Rashford and even Alexis, until they have played with top class fullbacks. Our team is too disjointed without them.

Valencia and Young are a disgrace as fullbacks for our club. Valencia cannot attack and Young cannot defend. Simply atrocious

Didn't even know he had been schooled for left back - Used to be a right winger, kind of like Salah.

He has good technique and probably could hit Lukaku better than Valencia, but I'm not sure he's consistent enough.

Certainly looks interesting in the video, but I haven't seen much of him this season.

Well at least you and I have an excuse to watch Liverpool's CL tie with Roma; hopefully, he keeps Salah/Mane in his back pocket.

I think he can be the ideal right-sided midfielder/fullback for Mourinho. Offers all the technical ability of Mata but with added defensive capabilities and the ability to cross or play the diagonal ball. Doesn't really go to ground for tackles, so if he's deployed as a right-midfielder/winger Valencia (or some other fullback) can drop back and concentrate on defensive duties.

I'm more excited for getting some decent fullbacks than I am for bringing in a Griezmann

Florenzi looks good but I don’t like the idea of signing Italian full backs as they look great in Serie A but it’s a much slower league and they don’t offer much going forward in another league from what I’ve ever seen apart from Zambrotta who was a winger for most of his career prior to moving to full back.

I think Alex Sandro is 100% the way to go on the left but there seems such a dearth of genuine talent at right back across the world, the fact that Barca have never replaced Dani Alves and a midfielder (Sergi Roberto) has been the best replacement despite Barca signing specialist right backs says a lot about that position in general.

Any 2 from that list will do. We Must bring in proper full backs that can attack and defend.

Slap £60m down on Porto's table for Telles and Ricardo Pereira, both been pretty frightening this season. Would like Sandro but I reckon it will be £60m alone for him. I'd still go all out for Ricardo Pereira, seems to be available for around £25m

Marcelo and Alaba bombing down the wings all game shows just how important getting top full backs in for us would be. Arguably Real and Bayern's best players today.
