He'll join United if he gets his deferred wages.

Barca want to sell him to avoid paying those wages.

Only way this ends with him joining united if he could reach middle ground with Barca and give up some of his money.

I wouldn't do that to be honest, feck them, they should pay him in full.
I think they want to sell him to avoid paying him the full wages he is currently on on top of his deferred wages. Hence why they want him to take a wage cut. He'll be getting the deferred wages either way.

Not at all. He has a contract with Barca, and they have to honour it, or pay him compensation. He can just refuse the pay cut and stay there on his agreed salary. Barca can't afford this, and other players will demand higher salaries, so they will be forced to transfer him out and pay the deferred wage payments. Only a broken fax machine can stop this transfer from happening!!!
I think you misunderstand me. That’s basically what I said, not in so many words…..

Of course he doesn't want to reduce his salary (actually, the amount owed). And I don't think he will need to, given the leverage he has, that's just not something he needs to concede. But there are ways to pay that salary in instalments that gives Barca less of sum to find all in one go. It's the obvious way to make the transfer work so everyone wins.

I can’t be arsed to look for the rule but I don’t think that once you leave a club the player has to be paid every £/€ thats due under the contract. Put simply you can’t have any contractual obligations due to you from more than one club.

Barca could well be banned from bringing in any players if they haven’t honoured financial obligations to existing players and more interesting the player after a period of time walk for free.

The player and his reps are playing a blinder here because he has a valid contract and it’s Barca that want to break it and nothing the player has said or done puts him in breech of that contract

Why are United so desperate to pay €85m for a player, who Barca apparently need to get rid off by any means necessary and who may not actually want to come?
Can you not honestly work that one out for yourself? I see a lot of these types of posts and I just can’t grasp the lack of thought process.
You mean he's Dutch?

@do.ob I thought you were brighter than that!

End game

I dont understand why its that hard to understand..
He isnt desperate to leave.. there is no way he leaves if he misses out on a huge amount which he (rightfully) believes is his and something Barca are trying to screw him out of.

If Barca want him off their books, they have to give him what they owe him.. if not, he knows him staying put will hurt Barca more.

If they do pay him off, he'll happily leave.. who would want to stay at a club thats trying to force you out the way Barca are doing..

There is nothing for us to do here.. wait .. its between barca and De jong.. or more accurately, just down to Barca, because De Jong isnt going to give in..

YOu need to pin this. Its basically what its boiled down to. Otherwise you have people who keep reapting the same stupid statements without investing time to reading anything prior.

This is by far the worse transfer saga we've had.

This deal is such a rollercoaster.

Within the same page you have a journo claiming he doesn't want to move etc. Few posts later and deal is imminent.

It just goes to show none of them have a single clue whats going on.

I don't think i've seen a transfer like this ever

One hour he's staying, the next he's leaving.

Where's he said that?
He's saying what is common knowledge among the United journos. James Ducker said the same on the debate show on MuTV about United having assurances that the player wants to join. And Ducker is among the best sources for United news.

It seems to me that Barca's expecting De Jong to go and the only question is who pays the unpaid wages: Us or them. De Jong is clearly not going to sacrifice the wages he's owed. So, if Barca don't settle the bill he'll sit on his contract and keep demanding his money. Definitely his legal entitlement btw. How many of us would happily surrender the money we are owed by our company?

I guess this transfer will come down to whether Barca can come to a settlement with De Jong or whether United agree to cough up more to cover Barca's bill.

So... Are we feeling optimistic or no? I don't know what to feel. I can't imagine we would spend so much time and energy going after him only to be told "nah, not interested" by the player. Then again, it's united. Not sure what to think
It wouldn’t be the first time we have perused some one for a really long and it not go anywhere and it certainly won’t be the last

Different kind of player but a fantastic talent. I rate him on par with Bellingham but that Gerrard would never sell him to us.

As for FdJ, still confident this gets done. There is a lot of politics at play here given the amount of money owed and Barca being the scum that they are.

There isn’t a player from Birmingham except for Jack Grealish… that believes they are better than Jude Bellingham.

What a joke statement. Yes he played well against us but that’s a hyperbolic view. He’s bang average and I’m sure Villa would love to take our money if we was stupid enough to give them what we are offering De Jong.

I hated that Sneijder saga and how it came back every year  Now we have the likes of Romano and a bunch of "journalists" telling us the same thing with different words every single day.

That's the new annoying thing. Goldbridge with his Deal Done!!, Fee Agreed!!, Terms agreed!! fecking clickbait wankfest

Big statement. Not sure it's that bad.

Cesc Fabregas is fairly hard to top. Spent 3 months on signing him just to end up with Fellaini.

Although this FDJ deal is heading in that direction. I think it's got a way to run yet, I think it'll last until La Liga 2022/23 starts and if Xavi drops him for the first couple of games, he'll leave

Sure, but I don't remember this situation where we spend so long with him as a priority target, agree with the club only for the player to say "nah I'm staying" (if it's true).

Is he ever able to redeem strikes? Like say we don't get De Jong, then miss out on somebody else in January, then we win the PL, but he misses out on another target next summer, is he gone?

I'll reset him after he hits a home run

Didn't we beat that thread comfortably already? 700+ page transfer saga has to be a first for the Caf.
