Wait... are we assuming that Ronaldo is back? Solved his ''family issues'' and raring to go?
No one wants the 'best player in the world' so......

Bloody hell
It’s not his fault Barcelona are dumb enough to sign players despite knowing they can’t register them. You can’t be serious
If barca were unable to register their signings because he refused to take a pay cut or move to a new team he would be made a huge villain every trick in the book would be used to make it known he is the bad guy.
This is business not happy families.
In addition to the di Maria vibe, there is a hint of the Pogba vibe. I hope he is brought in and is worth the trouble and the sum, which will probably include the transfer fee and the deferred wage.A reasonable take off the Barca forum:
Frenkie may well have strong preferences over where he plays his football, but I guarantee that the biggest stumbling block in these negotiations is over his compensation.
Right now, Barca has an obligation to pay him €170m in gross income over the next four years. Frenkie wants (at least) the vast majority of that money.
Does anybody really believe that United are offering €80m to Barca and €170m to Frenkie, and so committing to pay €250m for him over the course of 4 years? I suspect the salary offer United is making is more like €15m/season after taxes, or €120m gross over four years. This means that Frenkie is being asked to give away €50m for the opportunity to trade Barcelona for United. Nobody would be that stupid.
The only way this deal gets done is if Barca and United collectively come up with another €50m. Maybe Barca makes a €30m payment to Frenkie (effectively lowering the proceeds of the sale from €80m to €50m), and United raises his gross wage by €5m/year. Maybe United increases the transfer fee to €100m and Barca pays Frenkie a going-away present of €50m. But nobody can expect Frenkie to give away many millions of euros to make this move.
That is just insane. He's not even been there that long and the owe him such a staggering amount?!
Do you really believe that number, 170m over 4 years?A reasonable take off the Barca forum:

I believe that number is completely wrong. Even though we all know Barca is crazy, they are not so stupid.Isn't that the total size of the contract package over the next 4 years including the deferred salaries from the past few years?
Clearly, he isn't entitled to the salaries for the future years if he moves to United. He only just needs to claw back the deferred payments. It really isn't that complicated to figure out -- unless Barca is being cnutish about it.

With the deferred comp, yes.
Messi's last contract at Barca was reportedly €35-40M net / yr, so €15-18M net /yr for de Jong is not that unreasonable (especially as there was a bidding war with PSG/City at the time of his transfer). Add in deferred comp, loyalty bonus and tax and yes, €170m over the next 4 years sounds about right.
I am still unable to arrive at the number 170M. Unless you are talking about some ridiculous add-on with very high value. With the deferred comp, yes.

I believe Marca said they owe him about 88.7M over next 4 years (fixed salary plus loyalty bonus). And addons of about 20M if he stays through all those 4 years and Barca wins titles etc etc

Virtue signallingQuit your moaning and virtue signalling!!!
Just put me on ignore.

Someone must be confused with pretax and post tax number. Over 4 yrs for the remaining contract, he will receive 70-80m pre-tax salary. They thought it as post-tax.
I have a close family member who was a professional footballer, he went into management and was assistant at quite a large club and fell out with the newly appointed manager and wanted to leave after an altercation but his lawyers made him sit tight for several weeks until the club had no option but to pay him out of his contract. If FDJ tells Barca he wants to leave, wouldnt that mean he forfeits his loyalty bonus?
Maybe that's why he can't say it. He wants his loyalty bonus and all his deferred wages.
All building towards Frenkie Friday! What I think will happen is:
Barca will agree a fee with United - apparently done.
Barca will tell de Jong its pay cut or leave - also done apparently
Barca will offer de Jong a take it or leave it offer, one they KNOW he won't take, it'd be the absolute max they can legally cut his wages by, and writing off his deferred wages or cutting them big time
De Jong will refuse the offer and Barca will flat out tell him that he has no future at the club. His only option is to leave.
De Jong will reluctantly leave and Barca will spin it as they tried their best to keep him and offered him a deal that they believe was modest and acceptable. They'll paint him as a mercenary who cared more for money then the club.
This will all play out over the next few days in my opinion
I’d like to see him with Fred. I like Fred. How could you not like Fred?!Fred or Mctominay will partner him
Different circumstances, granted, but I suspect De jongs advisers are telling him the same thing, keep schtum, say the right things and you’ll get your money and perhaps the move.
All building towards Frenkie Friday!
If they successfully trigger the second lever, they would have generated around €500-550M. Doesn’t this mean that they can afford to keep De Jong if they wanted to, pay his outstanding salary and still sign players?
Heck no. Frenkie is the most important cog in the machine ten Hag is building.Just Walk Away.
what is an economic lever - and can i have one?No, because of Spanish ffp. They need him and his huge wage gone to free up wages for new players.
really? the one player the new manager seems to want above all else?Just Walk Away.
what is an economic lever - and can i have one?
Search Google for pay day loans and you can have all the economic levers you wantwhat is an economic lever - and can i have one?
Aha. SnapJust Google "payday loan"
Many accusations thrown at Cristianos game, but that isn’t one. Even for Ralph he was hassling and harrying defenders and tracking back to win tackles. He will do what the manager tells him to because he is professional. The ETH system will require the front 3 to press. Ronnie won't do that since he is 38 and needs to save his energy.
We will be back to the nonsense football we played last season. Directionless and unmotivated players because the outfield players have to compensate for Ronaldo's deficiencies and lack of work rate. He is the solution to the problems that he himself creates.
If it hadn't been for the fact that I really want FDJ badly - I would almost hope he stays, because this is going to get toxic. I feel like bringing popcorn
They keep a half dead patient alife. The future revenues will be even smaller so they just postponed issuesImagine if United could just trigger “Economic Levers” each summer like Barcelona… We’d have Mbappe, Haaland and Ronaldo up front.
Funny thing is too the Barcelona fans seem so happy they can keep doing it. Until the club crumbles in a couple of years time anyways.
Barcelona have to keep winning trophies at this rate. One bad season they might be out of business.
Actually he can be a huge negative disruption if he stays. So he can do a lot of damage. He’s basically told everyone including his teammates that they are beneath him.If no one ends up wanting him he can’t really do much
Does anyone know if FDJ is interested in joining Chelsea? I've read nothing about it.
FFS.Just closed.
You cant polish a turd?Just Walk Away.
