If you want me to be Frenkie with you, I pull my De Jong out already.

why are they sunning themselves in the spanish capital whilst our transfers are going untransferred?? they’re worse than woodworm and gull combined :mad:

We're at the Schroedinger's cat stage. Is the cat still alive, will he choose to come out of the box and will the box pay him the 17m Euros it owes him. Ive stretched the analogy too far.

I hope something is leaked soon. I don't think we should be messing around all summer trying to do a deal with the crooks at Barcelona.

If later in the window they are keen to get rid of him, we can make a derisory offer then.

Get someone else in for now IMO, it's not like our midfield is blessed with quality.

Frustrating situation.

At least we should get a yes or no soon then if they are there, otherwise it could have been done over teams.

Wouldnt the easiest thing to do from Barcelonas perspective be to lower whatever the fee is for De Jong. United instead pay De Jong the difference as a sign on bonus to cover the money they owe him.

i fail to understand Laporta saying “we want to keep him but he needs to reduce his salary” you already owe him money and you want to reduce his salary?

Why is De Jong not just taking a case against Barca for breach of contract for not paying his salary?

Probably already discussed on here but Ive not read the entire thread.

Because legal action is costly, time consuming and ugly. It’s preferable for all parties to sort it out amicably, even if the timeframe to do so tests the patience of our transfer forum population.

Laporta doesn’t want to keep him, he knows full well that Barca can’t afford to keep him and MUST sell. The whole ‘we want him, not for sale’ routine is to placate the fans and socios that he tried all he could but it was unavoidable because of the debt. Don’t fall for it.

Also they are not interested in easy, the want only lucrative.

They want to have their cake and eat it. They want a nice big fee and they don't want to have to pay De Jong what they owe him.

How dare he make financial decisions without considering the transfer muppets!

We don't know the terms of his various contracts. For all we know Barca might be entitled to do this. Chances are they can't though, and there is a pay-up on transfer clause, which is why they are trying to hold things up to negotiate a release. In which case they will fail.

If there isn't such a clause then FdJ's lawyers and agents are morons. And FdJ will have to threaten to stay to get his money. Or we will have to pay it. But we don't really know.

Na, it’s the same as clubs who sign players with 20 percent sell on clauses and expect clubs to bid 20 percent more to cover it

Oh I think he'd love to keep him, if they could get the 2nd "lever" activated this week at the price they are hoping, and that the player then agrees to remain on the €150,000 or so he on now and forfeit the monies owed from the past two seasons; thus meaning that over the course of the 6 year contract he'd have received just 105,000 /week.

I think that's what he'll offer, or has offered De Jong. In reality though, they appear to be struggling to sell the 2nd "lever" at the hoped price and no top footballer is agreeing to 105,000 /week for all of his prime years at a top club.

No they don't.

Barca owe Liverpool £29 million still for Coutinho and owe £107 million to nearly 20 clubs in total. Reports today come out saying Barca owe Pique £40 million in deferred wages and Busquets around £15 million which are due to be paid over the next two years on top of their wages for the year.

I’d have thought it was Because at the moment he hasn’t left the club, hence why he can’t sue them as they haven’t broke any obligations as we don’t know when these deferred payments were due

the fact they might be saying we aren’t paying you if you leave is where the lawsuit come in as he agreed that on a good will basis (and also assuming the agent isn’t a mug and got the legal docs in the ensure the money will be paid no matter what - if not, that’s a way out for Barca if you have a good lawyer, although Barca would be showing themselves in the foot if they did that to a player on a world audience)

but then I’m no lawyer and people seem to be suing their employers left right and centre these days for all sorts of stuff

Not quite, the deferred wages are from the previous two seasons.

Are they trying to pass the debt on to MU? Absolutely.

This Barca chaos is a lesson to every tantrum throwing Mark Goldbridge type in our fanbase that cries when we don't spend 300m every summer.

This level of spending is simply unsustainable unless you're owned by a Sheikh or another rich owner who isn't bothered about any ROI.

Freddie Mercury - Barcelona

I had this perfect dream
Un sueno me envolvie
This dream was me and you
Tal vez est s aqu¡
I want all the world to see
Un instinto me guiaba
A miracle sensation
My guide and inspiration
Now my dream is slowly coming true
The wind is a gentle breeze
El me hable de ti
The bells are ringing out
El canto vuela
They're calling us together
Guiding us forever
Wish my dream would never go away

Please be true. I can do with this ending, preferably positively of course but just ending full stop would be nice.

Was it not TalkSport reporting that Albanian goalkeeper to Man Utd only to find out he is going to Brentford?

The only time TalkSport were on the money was Woodward sacking.
