While I understand the sentiment, there are already a lot of Barca players who have done exactly this. Scummy and crazy as it sounds it's far from impossible. Pique and Umtiti did it just last season and I think there's been some talk about Busquets potentially doing similar. Not saying I think this is off or anything, but Barca have already tried similar tactics by putting public pressure on their players to take a wage cut, and it has worked in some cases. As crazy as it seems, players clearly do still love Barcelona as a club, as is evidenced by both Raphinha and Lewandowski wanting to go there despite the horrible way the club is run and the way it treats its staff.
Did they now or they just deferred their wages and you bought into their PR .

Anyone know where his new missus is from? Feel like if she's Catalan could be a pretty big motivation.

I don't really put any concern in what Laporta says, he's a corrupt sh*t that just sold his club down the drain and won't be there for when it hurts.

High school sweetheart, so not Spanish.

Ah, that explains everything. The majority was under the assumption that you get paid according to your contract.

The club pays the player to be under the orders of the coach, and then he chooses. If a player prefers not to lower the salary and not play it is his right. And Barcelona is also in the right to put a player who does meet the salary conditions imposed.

Mes Que Un Club

If you want to argue something and have us debate it as adults I will be delighted.

Dembele says hallo. Took about 1 game before you caved in.

That's right and it was something I didn't like. Just as I don't like that Dembélé's offer hasn't been withdrawn and it also seems that he's going to renew.

You must be so proud to support a club that conducts itself in such a ridiculous manner

The club is establishing a salary scale for economic reasons and all players and coaches adjust and lower their salary except FDJ.
Well, if that player doesn't contribute to the group, he doesn't play. He receives his full salary but does not play. And he also has the option of being transferred if he does not like the situation.

But how always the only thing that matters is who does it. If it does your club is fine and if it does a club you hate it is very bad and they are very bad.

Mess of a club

It's funny to be said by an F.C. Hollywood fan. Where in a league without rivals because they are clubs without ambition and still want to leave such important players.

Your club is pile of shiit right now, trying to sign expensive players while trying to lower
the salary of current players.

Sounds like great fun,but just like Messi generating 80% of Barcelonas total revenue it’s not how it’s going to work out.

This is total BS. It can work when a player only has 6 months left or so on his contract, but there's no way Barcelona leaves De Jong on the bench for 4 years while paying him his full salary.

You can try to spin that the way you want, but this whole circus just aims at putting pressure on De Jong so he leaves or changes his contract.

I like it when the Barca boys get all defensive.

I hate Bayern with an absolute pashion, but Barcelona could only dream of being as well run as them

Please move on, this reeks of moyes's first season and we will probably ending up in another fellaini scenario at the end of the window, ten hag is looking very small time with his transfer targets consisting of players that he has worked with or played in the Dutch league, I have no sympathy if we end up with lack of transfers come the new season if he can't broaden his transfer options.

United aren't airing anything publicly, as far as I can see. They've never commented. It's all press speculation for clicks!
Some of this yes but Christiano has told the world he wants to leave, he wanted to leave on 2006 but he never came out publicly and told the click pages as you say, why did he do that because he has no respect for the club he had when Sir Alex and David Gill were present.

Do we have an alternative to FDJ?
This is getting ridiculous the way Barca playing us around. We should really tell them to feck off and let them deal with a highly paid unhappy player. There is no way FDJ willing to take significant paycut.

Busquets and Alba are still on significantly higher wages than De Jong, yet they don't seem to be part of this same guilt trip lower wages or don't play ultimatum. Being proud Catalans you would think they'd be the first to take wage cuts for the good of their beloved club

Literally said he was a slave being held against his will by the club.

If Barcelona bench FdJ just for insisting on his contractual agreed salary, this will be a great feast for every labor law lawyer.

That's not how it works in Europe.

i suspect you'll see a deal done tomorrow or tuesday now that Frenkie has gotten his personal stuff done(vacation and engagement)

And now imagine a spineless cnut actually accepting that.
If he really is ok with that I'm glad we stay away from him. I doubt he will though

Well exactly, I can't see how it wouldn't completely sour relations even if it was with a club he supposedly loves. If he loves them that much then he could never have been swayed and would have told Ten Hag that so I can't see him doing that.

Sometimes it's clear when a poster is paid by a club to do their own propaganda because no way @Niemans is doing this for free.

We should just walk out from the negotiation. Let Barca alone in the table, feck them. We need players, but not specifically De Jong. This has taken too long and it's embarrassing.

I know Ten Hag wants him, but surely there must be a second and third choice.

The club is pushing the players to accept the financial responsibility for the mess the club made. If the club was being financially responsible they wouldn't be signing new players in addition to this. Instead they got De Jong to agree to a wage deferral on money the club agreed to pay him and now they are trying to pressure him (through the media no less, so setting the fans on him as well) into accepting less or selling him. Whilst doing that they are attempting to sign at least four new players.

By all means talk about it all like it's matter of fact, but it's a shitty, and despicable way to treat their employees and if it was Man Utd I'd say the same thing.
