Fallen Muppet. Lest we never forget
It's been fairly widely reported now we have pretty much agreed a deal.If Barca want the £60m and we’re only prepared to offer them £40-45m, then perhaps we could throw in Rashford too?

Great deals for them but I guess it depends how he performs in the coming seasons.I think Pogba Juve is probably up there. Free > 90m > Free

I think he’s desperate to join us but because they want like 60m for him and we only want to pay like 40 then it’s going to be another long negotiation like what’s happening with de Jong only for us to go and sign him for the price they originally wanted. We’re just wasting time for no reason.
Me too!Yes thanks, ( showing our age here, well me anyway )
That would be a reasonable price. We’ll negotiate by going up 2 mil a week to drag it outMeet in the middle £50m plus addons?
Hehe
Laliga got you pushing to many pencils ?Bayern and United
I desperately want him to stay but is he a No.9 like RvP or RvN? A big fat no, I'm afraid. In fact, I think we'd have done better last season with Cavani up top with Ronnie either wide of just behind him, where he would have found a bit more freedom and been harder to mark. We kept hearing about how Ole knew the DNA of the club but having a top top marksman is the absolute DNA of United for meHe almost did score 20 League Goals last season (and would have if he actually started the season and didn't join a few games in). And he's the best centre-forward the club have and can get this summer. Getting a striker who is capable of scoring the goals Ronaldo can would cost the club about 100M+ which the club just can't afford this summer so really Ronaldo is doing the club a favour by staying (if he does) and that's what United fans should want.. goal-scoring is the hardest part of football like Roy Keane said. Lower your expectations about getting everything in one summer please. Baby steps. Be happy with the club getting De Jong and breaking the internet.
but think what we'd have with Ronaldo either wide or behind a top goal scorer...He just scored 18 league goals in this terrible season.
my point is, imagine him playing with a top centre forward as in the good old daysYou know he just did 17 in a very dysfunctional team right, never rule out the great Cr7

No one knows what the totals are yet.£68 million is fantastic business.
True, I've seen that figure multiple times over the last week or so. Will have to see.No one knows what the totals are yet.
But Ronaldo is a centre forward. Gone are the days of him beating his man, or playmaking behind someone else. He's the man that's going to get on the end of things as his remaining strengths now are his positioning to sniff out chances, his aerial ability and his finishing. Not sure your idea makes much sense in view of that. It's goals around him that we need, i.e. Sancho stepping up and somebody on the right.my point is, imagine him playing with a top centre forward as in the good old days

How much should he cost? Its pretty much the price Barcelona paid for him to Ajax and what they've wanted for him from us since day 1 so what is so "fantastic" about it ?
Nobody around him has scored goals for at least five years. Maybe there’s a pattern emerging. But Ronaldo is a centre forward. Chance creation vacuum upfront. Individual talent isn’t at in question, but like you say the goals seem to dry up elsewhere. I see a similar pattern with Ibra.Nobody around him has scored goals for at least five years. Maybe there’s a pattern emerging.
Not exactly the greatest set of players that.
He beats his man an awful lot to be fair. It’s just that eventually he’ll just run it off the pitch with no defender in sight.Im genuinely astonished that Traore is 3rd on that list. For all his obvious strengths you could hardly claim that the ball sticks to his feet.
Not true. Morata and Chiesa scored 20 and 14 goals respectively in 2020-21, and Dybala scored 17 in 2019-20. 2018-19 was a bit of a dry season for Juventus in general, albeit they still won Serie A. I’m not even going to bring up the stats for Real Madrid in 2017-18 - we all know how many goals they scored. It’s not Ronaldo’s problem that so many of our attackers either lost it (Bruno, Rashford, Martial), were still adjusting to the league (Sancho, Elanga) or ruined his and his girlfriend’s lives (Greenwood) last season.Nobody around him has scored goals for at least five years. Maybe there’s a pattern emerging.

That’s true. I’d love it if running the ball out of play somehow counted as a successful dribble!
As far as I’m aware dribbling stats are worked on beating your man, so running it out of play a few kick and hopes afterwards wouldn’t knock the score (I’m definitely not an expert on this though)That’s true. I’d love it if running the ball out of play somehow counted as a successful dribble!
really? he dribbled past people for fun, he just can’t do a lot more than that.Im genuinely astonished that Traore is 3rd on that list. For all his obvious strengths you could hardly claim that the ball sticks to his feet.
Because deep lying playmakers of his quality are incredibly hard to buy, we're lucky enough that Barca have a wealth of options in that area to give up a player like him. It's great value for us even at £68 million, given how good he is and how desperate we are/have been for that type of player since Carrick and Scholes. Its pretty much the price Barcelona paid for him to Ajax and what they've wanted for him from us since day 1 so what is so "fantastic" about it ?
