De Jong is completely different to Busquets though. De Jong is a roaming midfielder who likes starting deep. Busquets picks the ball off the defence but stays stable in that position. Barca, what Xavi wants, is someone to do what Busquets does. De Jong just doesn't fit.

What you said about drawing the other team i’m not agreeing. He always try to draw the other team but that has to be used when the situation asks for it. Sometimes you just have to raise the tempo and play quick. Because of his drawing the opposite will always be organized when they were out of position. It takes too long. Many times I saw gaps where he just had to play the ball fast and it would be a chance. He then takes to many touches and the chance is gone.
Defensively he needs to play with awareness midfielders. I agree! Therefor i think it’s better that he plays will a bit more defensive midfielder behind/next to him. As a lonely 6 the other more attacking cm’s won’t do that job for you and the defense have their own opponents
That's not the point. There's only one Busquets and he's old. He has one year max ieft in the tank as a starter (some might even say he should already be on the bench). What's next? Settle for a cheaper Busquetish player like Jorginho (and yet a bit different) ? They'll have to replace him at one point and when he's gone, there's nobody left in the team to grab the ball low on the pitch and moving forward. De Jong was an alternative even if that would mean changing their style a bit, if they sell him, they're likely to be in trouble. Unless the go all in on Nico but he's also a different type of player and there's not guarantee he'll reach that level.
Yeah but that's the point isn't it? Xavi doesn't want to change style, he has the system he likes playing so knows what type of midfielders he wants. So why keep someone with De Jongs value if you know that's not what you want for your system?
Wrong. SAF played him as part of a two in midfield from the start. I remember people in Brazil were very surprised by that. One of SAF's weaknesses was finding room for floating tens like Anderson, who are not really midfielders, or forwards, but really creators.
Anderson had other issues. His diet for one. Like Rafael da Silva said, he didn't take his profession as seriously as he should've.
