I'm predicting at least 4 weeks until this comes to any sort of conclusion. You know when a player goes on holiday, nothing happens. Then it's usually only when they're back for a couple of weeks that we see any sort of movement.
Can't we just park this one and work on other signings?
how can you park a signing that dictates what your transfer budget will be? If you have £120M spending £70-£80M on De Jong will only leave you £40-£50M (so maybe a few free signings like Eriksen, Danny Ings and one Timber/Anthony), but if you don't sign De Jong you have £120M for signings so the quality of player you can sign goes up.
De Jong has made Man Utd constipation in terms of transfer activity and the lack of it. The De Jong blockage needs to be fixed first.
Because De Jong is holding everything up as we don't know what budget we will have
What you need is a deadline for a decision one way or the other. And move on. But the club seems reluctant to set a deadline for some reason and seem happy for De Jong to hold up our whole transfer window.. despite deadlines making things happen.
maybe Ten Hag needs to be willing to move on, he's probably putting too much pressure on the club to get De Jong at all costs. The club want to try the best to do what Ten Hag wants and don't want to let him down so are happy to let the De Jong transfer saga dominate the whole summer. If it's what Ten Hag wants.
