They're definitely not getting Silva?
They didn't have a place for FdJ, so why are they so worried about him going and helping the club stabilize financially? They have two young players who outperformed him in the position they tried to play him in.
They've also an extremely settled successful structure in place.
We can't go signing players left, right and centre without ETH input of some kind.
Of course he needs someone behind him.
Kessie bossed the midfield against Fred and Mctominay when we played Milan. Then when Pogba came on he ran the show and Kessie was chasing shadows. Kind of sums up where he's at in my opinion.
Kessie's not that good and is not a Barca type of player. I remember when they signed Alex Song from Arsenal, he was so good by the end of his Arsenal career but at Barca he failed badly.
No that's not similar at all. Because Pogba's issue is not about him being used wrong. He was used to play deeper position and still performed 5/10 overall, he was used as no 8 and also still performed 5/10 overall, he was also used as no 10 or wide, still performed 5/10 overall. Pogba's issue is that he needs to play next to world class players like Kante, Vidal, and Pirlo to perform 7/10 or 8/10 or above.
On contrary, FDJ can still perform 7/10 or 8/10 overall if he is played in the right position/role, regardless if he plays with Schone's level or Berghuis level or Koopmeiners. So your logic that my point only works if FDJ wins world cup playing next to Berghuis is totally wrong because individual performance shouldn't be judged based on team's achievement. Why? Because FDJ could perform 10/10 and there is likely chances that his team still doesn't win World Cup.
Modric didn't win world cup playing next to Rakitic and Brozovic, he also didn't win Euro playing next to Kovacic and Brozovic, so does that mean he has the same issue as Pogba?? No!! Ronaldo scored 18 league goals this season is like 7/10 or 8/10 performance, while someone with Pogba's issue would probably need to play next to world class level of team-mates to get 7/10 performance overall.
FDJ's issues is completly different to Pogba's issues.

But remember... its a player who didn't want to join us, has been told he has to go, has had Eric convince him to join us and we are paying a huge amount for a player who could end up being the next VDB or Pogba In midfield.
That is my only concern, we are spending a lot of time convincing a player to join us, giving him high wages & transfer fee and it could be we lose out perhaps on better options.
Given clubs that are run better, usually know who they want well ahead of time, it seems United only choose a player mid June and spend 2 months negotiating and either get them for high-priced or loss out on better options.

Surely Barca no longer need to leak such stories. Probably just the Twitterati chasing clout. The fans are well aware of their financial problems and are fine with De Jong being sold. They have Pedri and Gavi to look forward to.

The club could make this easy and sign Neves and Tielemans for likely the same cost as De Jong. We can then focus on Antony or other right sided attacking options and a fullback. It’s the same old indecisive and slow United.

Neither of them are close to De Jong in terms of quality and Wolves are asking for 80m for Neves.
Signing tielemans and Neves for the same cost as De Jong would give us a much weaker team with much lower potential for the same cost. Seriously, they aren't anywhere near the same class.

Never is so easy that Wolves have said 100m Euros to start, which is higher than what even Barca want.

Pay the same for a player that isn't even half as good as FDJ.

You need to stop worrying about how an individual performs and consider what a title winning team will need to look like.

ok is a vast improvement on what we have in McFred. Not so sure how genuine this link with him is though. Any value in regards to getting him on the cheap has long gone.

Let’s face it, we are crap at Transfers. City and Scousers identify a player and go and buy him. United identify eight players and piss about choosing one and then haggle over a few quid. Barca are in the driving seat for the deJong transfer. United should say do it by Wednesday or we’re off elsewhere. Then watch City steam in with a slightly higher offer and steal him.
All players need to be accomodated. De Jong no more so than the vast majority of midfielders.
And then moan because we aren’t signing *insert CM here* next year. Whatever happened to Saul Niguez?

Exactly. Back to my original point - we will need to sign another midfielder. Whether it's this summer or next, we will need to if we want to a) have a balanced and competitive midfield, and b) want to get the best out of FdJ (if we sign him).
