Muppets are just impatient to the point of making shit up. If we signed De Jong even in two weeks time, it would be an ‘early’ deal. There would still be more than two whole fecking months of the window left, yet people are moaning about United ‘typically dragging it on’ - which is also bollocks.

Pre season starts June 27th, Tour early July.

Why would you wait until September to sign a load of new players?

Why is no other team looking at him?

If he was really that decent, European clubs would be after him if he is available?

They all seem to find money when they want a player.

Why was no other team looking at Haaland?

Why is no other team looking at Mane?

As much as people like to believe it, transfers aren't done like football manager. Agents will tell clubs all the time if there is a chance of their players moving etc. I'd assume anyone contacting Frenkie's will be told that if he's moving, he's going to United. More often than not, it feels like there is only one team after a player

"Maguire is not the centre half we've been looking for"
You refer to the one who will bring balance to MUFC, you think it's this... boy?

I'm starting to think choccy just has us all on strings. The puppet master.

Different teams have different needs.
Liverpool don't need him. City don't. Chelsea have priorities elsewhere.
Bayern are stocked in his position and don't pay that kind of money. No team in Italy can afford him That leaves Madrid and PSG. He's not going to Madrid for obvious reasons. PSG have to clear out a number of players before signing a midfielder and they seem interested in Pogba for free.

Well we haven’t waited until September have we?

And I hear this same argument on the Caf every year. If it was valid, then the window itself may as well close for clubs before pre-season starts. What is the point in even having a window open up until the end of August if every deal is supposed to be done in June and anything post July is ‘too late’?

The window is open until the end of August, and any player signed within that time frame is not too late at all. United, and any other club, is entitled to use the full window to trade players. Fans seem to want deals all done even before the window opens.

Yeah we are the only ones who get done for a fee.

Jack Grealish, Lukaku. Bargains.

So the narrative is pretty much the same from everyone.

Barca want about 100m euros in total. We want to pay about max 70m euros guaranteed fee... probably happy for it to rise to 80m with add ons.

So this is all about haggling now. Everyone seems in agreement that all parties want the deal done. So why are people thinking it won't happen?

Barca are living in their own world where they paid 140m for Coutinho and 120m for Griezmann.

Clubs know we have huge amounts of money. That’s why.
People talk about this as though it's a natural affliction we have to put up with as the biggest club in the Premier League.

Nothing to do with our former CEO mouthing off on TV about how much money we have to spend on transfers and then subsequently buying one overpriced flop after another.

The "Utd tax" is a bit of a myth. Fact is that if we had a proper recruitment and negotiation team from top the bottom we wouldn't have to do all this bullshit. So often we either don't get a deal across the line that we need or a player doesn't get a proper pre-season when we inevitably pay the other clubs asking price. Looks to be happening once again here.

Love De Jong as a player, but I wouldn't be going over €80m for him. Those €20m add-ons they want on top is a joke and should only be considered if they are hard to achieve. Premier League/Champions League winners, Ballon d'Or etc.

Some interesting comments by Ten Hag on De Jong. Basically we would still need a proper DM to get the best out of him.

Or, we just sign the players we want, and they get a full pre-season with the team. Which happens very often.
