Apparently the actual SPORT article doesn’t even mention United
it does mention Utd, but a throwaway line about how Utd and chelsea are watching incase he decides to leave. It certainly didn't say what that Managing Barca account is claiming... theyre citing Dutch sources it seems at the bottom of the article.

I still think we will sign him. My prediction is that he will join us on loan next week.

Congrats, Frenkie! (What does this tell us?)

It tells us that if Twitter was a bigger thing in the past, there would be more posts on Fabregas thread calling us "embarrassing".

Is there any way of reconciliation at Barcelona on his current salary? Like, are Barcelona in a position where they can afford to pay him on his current salary this year without any FFP issues? Or do they absolutely need him to take the pay-cut to stay? Failed to keep up to date with the nuances of the situation after a while.

Only with significant other outgoings. They still have not been able to register Kounde and despite agreeing a deal for Alonso they are not yet able to complete the transfer and then again he is another that would need registering not to mention they still dream of finding a way to sign Silva. The other options are selling Auba to Chelsea and offloading Depay and at present the Auba deal is stuck because Chelsea are not inclined to offer 30M for a player Barca got for nothing a few months ago and the Depay deal to join Juve has allegedly fallen through.

Lots of potential deals over the next few days but the bottom line has always remained that due to his enormous salary plus the big fee he would bring their problems can be solved by selling FDJ alone. For Barca this is very tempting, trying to work out several outgoings of fringe players to cobble together the funds to register Kounde and Alonso is a lot more work and a lot less sexy than selling one Frenkie and registering everyone plus potentially landing Silva.

His present salary doesn't work for a number of reasons. Even if they overcome the obstacles of being able to register Kounde, sign Foyth, sign Silva and register ALL of them without selling De Jong or reducing his salary, then they are left in a situation where - with the new signings and the likes of Busquets and Pique having already 'adapted to the new salary structure' - De Jong is by far the highest paid player at the club. A position that his status does not merit at all, and they can't be happy with a situation where in a squad of Lewandowski, Silva, Pique/Busquets, Dembele, Raphinha - De Jong earns close to double the closest person. He will be far outside their 'salary structure' that Laporta keeps mentioning, and nobody wants a situation where Barca are taking one of their players to court to void his deal.

I wonder how many posts in those threads, especially the early ones, were made with the intent of hitting particular targets of page numbers
