He seems even more press resistant than Verratti- in the sense that Verratti frequently buys fouls when pressed whereas FDJ seems to always emerge with the ball and never has to resort to winning soft frees when put under pressure.

Why is it that there seemingly is no other club trying to sign him? 60-80M sounds reasonable for someone with his talent. I’m assuming his wages might me an issue? 300k+ from what I’ve heard (might be wrong).
I hope we can pull this off so much. Will instantly improve next season's prospects from top four struggle to almost a guaranteed top four spot.
Failing this I hope we atleast have some player like Partey / Xhaka lined up. Even they are better at build from the back than the McFred midfield.

Aside being agile he is quick in short bursts and also smart in knowing when to release the ball.

That's my default position too, I'd rather a DM, CB and a couple of fullbacks before effectively spending our entire budget on FDJ and Nunez but I think we can meet our basic objectives if we got them two plus a CB. We'd still be someway from the best possible team we could have but they wouod represent a substantial improvement which can be realised on the pitch and in our league standings.
I dont think the fees and wages would be a reason not to go for him. Most big clubs don't have that big of a need in midfield. Most have a playmaker or dont need one. Which is the second point, you need to really need tht type of player, as De Jong is a specific type of midfielder. Not every manager or club wants to change to accommodate him.
That said, i would be surprised if none of PSG or Bayern would try for him.
For that price and wage bracket, there are probably 8 other teams that could afford him. All of them have midfields that don't require major investment. Plus 3 of them are focused on trying to sign Pogba.
There are so many examples. Ozil to Arsenal, Sanchez to Arsenal, Van Nistelrooy to Madrid, Robben to Bayern...so many.
Yes huge wages that rules out some of the top clubs as well, Bayern, Juventus wouldn't pay such wages, Madrid don't do business with Barca, Pep can't have enough of this type of players but the wages would be an obstacle, Liverpool have Thiago, Psg have Verratti, that means Chelsea and United, but it will only make sense for Chelsea if Jorginho leaves as well.
We are the biggest club most in need. PSG are another but have so many...just not good enough.
- City have Rodri, who isn't really compatible with FDJ (much like Busquets)
- Madrid have already invested in their midfield with Camavinga and that move would be too spicy for a Barca fan like FDJ
- Juve have signed Zakaria and Pogba
- Bayern have Kimmich and Goretzka and have just signed Gravenberch for the bench
- PSG could use him, but they're looking at Tchouameni
Some have other priorities for what is still a large amount of money, other will as you say be put off by the wages.
But there's also the type of player to consider. As has already been pointed out in this thread and through his experience at Barca, De Jong is quite a specialist player who won't neccesarily function as well when used in a different role. And a lot of other teams aren't neccesarily geared to use him in the way that brings the best out of him. Whereas in our case we're in a position where we're essentially rebuilding the team from scratch again, so we can build the midfield around him to a certain extent.

I don't think you can bucket them like that, completely different styles. Frenkie is the type of player you actually want to dribble his way out of trouble in deep positions, Pogba is the one you'd panic to see when deep and pressed, and rather see with time and space. For that matter Frenkie is probably closer in style to Matic than Pogba. Barcelona tried to play him higher up but he's not at his best there.
Forget about Pogba and forget about Matić, they are history. Frenkie is at his best as the deep midfielder and the example is how he supported Berghuis and Klaassen yesterday with ease. The right profiles of players are those that don't get in the way of his position.
