Chelsea are but then again, they tried to agree a lower fee with Barca.

As for United, I've read absolutely nothing reliable on anything to do with covering wages. It would have been widely reported by now.

Once again, anyone have a reliable source?

Yeah this is definitely over for summer 2022, like you say we never got anything from Stone/Whitwell suggesting covering wages

Why should I, or anybody else, believe a tweet? Clubs put out things, both officially and through friendly journalists and agents, that they wish to be released. There's obviously been a huge amount of that in this saga, mostly from Barca but a few from us as well. Unless there's been something far more official than I'm aware of, it's all just media rubbish that some people strangely take way too seriously.

If we were willing to cover the wages, why has this gone on so long? It would have been over, one way or the other, immediately at the time. There's no more hanging around waiting for things to change like obviously has been happening this entire window.
Why believe anything if that’s the case

Is the extra funds being paid out of the Glazers pocket? Or are they leveraging another loan to get some funds?

You look at what makes logical sense. The things that most of these tweets and journalists were reporting made no sense, therefore why believe them? The only thing that made them make sense is if they were being directly leaked from Barca's side to try to put pressure on us. Which is quite obviously what was happening IMO.

There's money in the club to spend.

My guess/hope? They are getting ready to sell and want to maximise the amount they get for it, therefore want to splash out now, get some great players in (not using their own money) so that we are in a much better position for the sale.

Maybe JR has spooked them

A loan deal with an obligation to buy is still possible. Barca don't actually need cash. They are loaded with it. It is the wage bill that needs to be brought down.

Now we really are talking pipe dreams

Richard Arnold said that there was no money right? That we've burned through our cash reserves in recent years.

Frenkie needs to decide if he wants the money or if he wants to come here.

At this point, I don't think he is getting both as originally assumed.

Him and braithwaite etc. are just going to be the next umtitis.

umtiti is being sold that probably means an end to this, back next year ladies and gentlemen!

Hopefully FDJ can see that ETH is building a fantastic squad, Casemiro and him in midfield would be immense.
If we sort the attack out with Antony and Gakpo and get a RB and GK in I think we will be in great condition for the season.
Glazers to sell up and Sir Jim to buy the club, clear the debt owed and all the transfer debt from this summer as well.

We need a sugar daddy

I agree with those that by signing Casemiro it sends a clear message to FDJ that United are serious and can be back at challening for titles very soon.

We already have the manager, FDJ is not loved at Barca so i still think this deal is on and it could be done on deadline.

I cant see that.
And no team would be "obliged" to buy after a loan deal comes to an end.

It's actually a common thing. That's what for example PSG did with Icardi and Mbappé.

You might find we're miles off drawing anything like that kind of conclusion.

Yes but why would we do it now (or previously) when our bargaining position will be stronger at the end of the window? Especially now we have Casemiro and the perception is we aren’t desperate for FDJ any more. Barca’s stance is very stubbornly refusing to pay FDJ’s back money; they, also, don’t gain anything by making offers now - they seem to think Frenkie will cave.

The end of the window is where the parties will all start talking seriously about what compromises will be made. I could imagine a 3-way split of the deferred wages with Frenkie writing off his third of the pie whilst we and Barca pay a third each.

Total speculation, yes, but Barca do want to sell him, we do want to buy him and everyone wants the best deal they can get even if it means waiting until the bitter end.

One of my favourite players during the late nineties and early noughties. One of the best attacking players during his time alongside Ronaldo, Zidane and Rivaldo.
And the beat winger during his time (I know many here will say Giggs but the later lacked consistency).

In terms of attributes was very good at dribbling, and an assists machine thanks to very good vision, passing and crossing ability and selflessness.

Didn't see RB or GK mentioned in Mullock's article, however don't take his words as gospel when it comes to Utd

I think there is a bit of a difference in quality.

Xavi rates FDJ highly, they just cant justify the salary they are spending on him.
He has also just said they need to sell before they can register Kounde, make no mistake about it FDJ transfer can still happen, the arrival of Casemiro may have a positive impact on his decision.

Problem is we still aren't a team located in London playing Champions League or don't you think that's anything to do with it

Did it matter to Casemiro? If we sell the project to him(or whoever else we're going to blow this budget the knobhead owners have found)we can(a)make the top 4 or(b)have a really good Europa League and he only misses one season of Champions League football.

I want to believe we will try again

The players we have at the club are not all duds. We have some potentially great players at the club if we have the correct players playing in their preferred and best position.
Maguire = Bench (best position)

Sancho, Bruno, Eriksen and Martial could be the difference again with a bit of confidence and actually concentrating on playing correct positions.
Manager is implementing new tactics and ethos at the club and with the addition of Casemiro and Malacia we have two fantastic signings.
If we manage to get Antony and Gakpo then we have RW covered and depth in attack.
Martinez needs a few months to settle in, Diaz took a while to do it for City when he joined.
FDJ can look at that and see its got the makings of a great squad, if we keep Ronaldo for the season and he has a better season than last then top 4 is achievable and next season we can look to progress higher, im not writing this season off yet, even if we lose to Liverpool on Monday we still have a chance.

I wish he would look and see the potential, however seems his loyalty towards his "dream" club clouds his vision
