While it doesn't means our pursuit for De Jong ends. Think it's the next paragraph in the article.
My friend I don't think you understood my post.
It was just saying the fact that ETH is now sanctioning alternative signings is very significant. I said after that that it was obvious FdJ was never coming to us in the first place as my own opinion.

The fact that Athletic and Telegraph have been briefed of the club considering alternatives with bids on the way, its more than evident which way this is going. We are at the "bid for Dembele after failing on Sancho" stage of this saga. Soon the realisation of Frenkie not coming will arrive and you'll realize you wasted countless hours in this thread I'm afraid.

It means he watched our midfield against Brighton and he knows we need more than one.

You do raise valid points and could of course be right, but how exactly did we waste hours in here? Would the time have been better invested if he ended up signing?

He is right but also wrong. Reason for failure is not solely down to the debt. It's also due to the fact of the owners absolute refusal to get qualified people in for the roles above the manager and make sure they all work together as a team.

We are letting manager after manager give a list of targets and then the jackasses who are supposed to land them miss out on 9/10 of those.

We should have been able to blow others out of the water with the money generated by our huge fanbase. What ended up happening was we could only just match the spending of city and PSG(their official figures, at least), so our bad management has been exposed. We may still not have won the league for a decade, but we'd surely have been a lot closer with an extra £1B to spend on the squad.

Or with true muppet beliefs, one can think that Rabiot + Savic is a bluff on Barca to get a move on if they want to sell. Can't be mucking about with an agreed fee till the end of the window.

Nah. It's called bluffing.

Our bluffs is a bit shit considering our alleged targets are pure banter stuff.

But still...

Totally agree, we suck hard at bluffing but thats what this is IMHO. I've never seen the types of contortions from a a club to get rid of a contract like Barca are doing for FDJ right now. Truly some trailblazing stuff...I don't see how FDJ is going to weather this much longer.

Next they'll change all the locks to the practice pitch and make him do his own laundry...

yes, muppetry tends to be vindicated when signings pull off. Otherwise it's a bit sad if there is a host of "choo choo", "it's done", "todays the big day" for what, 80 days? All for him to eventually either stay put or move to a major rival.

I just want to know why we say we're confident, why we've insistent on putting that message out there. Hopefully we all learn the truth soon.
If no deal happens, nothing will be learned by us. They don't give a full report to the fans on failed signings. There's every possibility we dropped out a while ago and the media are just living off old news. There's every chance we're confident. But realistically, I think we're just playing it calmly. If it's at all possible to get arguably the best CM in the world, you keep the option open. We have until the 13th to find out, and then after that we have over two weeks to get other deals finalised if it doesn't happen. If Frenkie has told Erik there's a chance, we take the chance. If he says there's no chance in hell, we move on. He clearly hasn't said no chance in hell because we're still open to the idea. We're just planning for the other possibilities now as it's nearing the 13th, and if Barca don't sell him by then, they'll probably not sell him at all.

Honestly I don't expect anyone is confident, but you keep the option there if it's possible, absolutely.

Probably just face saving until deadline day. The club said the same in the Sancho saga and the transfer eventually didn’t happen when BVB didn’t bulge on the price when everyone thought they would

I mean.. I do most of my posting when i'm at work. So i'm being paid to post. So if you call being a professional muppet a waste of time, then more fool you.

I really fear for the mental health of all of you.

My mental health has definitely been impacted by united but not due to this pursuit of FDJ. It's the rest of the transfer business that's so damn depressing.

New Midfield:

-----------------Thomas Cleverley (30M)
Morgan Schneiderlin(30M)---Fellaini (40M)

What do you guys think?

It could just as easily be United turning the screw and applying pressure to Barca to sort it out and get this done.
If we were the only club in for him this mignt have legs....but we aren't.

That's as close to a brief from the club as you'll get. We're done here.

Rabiot is an alternative midfielder though? The point of the tweet is basically saying we're not giving up hope of signing de Jong?

@pocco this is more of a sign they are moving on from FDJ is there is one

As I said somewhere (here or SMS thread) I think we're getting our house in order ready to go for SMS if FDJ doesn't come. I think the Rabiot deal is completely separate

If FDJ doesn't sign I think we will get SMS and Rabiot. Pretty confident about that. Probably Gakpo too.
