I'm a huge fan of de Jong but this is becoming a bigger hassle than it's worth. It's opening day of the season for us and there's no indication that this is any closer to being resolved than it was 2 months ago.

If we're going to get dicked around and end up with McTominay and Fred as our starting midfield options at the end of the window, we have to act now. Try for somebody like Bennacer, if it's true that a release clause exists in his contract we should be looking to trigger that.

Pretty obvious from the match yesterday and motd analysis that chelsea need a forward. Having spent close to £200mil this summer i cant see them going to £350mil to get fdj and a striker.

You would think that, but they have an ambitious American owner who wants to make a statement this summer. You could look at what moves he’s sanctioned with the LA dodgers and realize this man loves the spotlight. Really wish we had an owner with his passion for sport and winning.

I’m back to being confident that he’s coming. Barca need him gone and simply want us to pay more. I think Chelsea were sniffing around (as per Orny) but I don’t think it’s more than that at this stage.

City are signing Veratti to go with Rodri and Phillips are they?

Romero needs blacklisting. He must tweet 'things are happening' every time he needs a shite. Which is fitting, as he takes it out of his face.

Just one minute until we find out if McFred is the fall-back.

Last year Frenkie received about 4M gross, 35% of what he was entitled to. Now he should collect about 19, adding the deferred. 71%. In that negotiation it was not contractually stipulated that if he left he would collect said amount in a single payment.

His representative is in favor of a transfer, but not without first resolving this issue. By not having it in writing, there is a conflict of interpretations between the parties. Negotiate a percentage of the amount owed, possible solution if Frenkie gave the green light for his departure.

To date, the Dutchman has reiterated his desire to succeed at Barcelona and not leave. And less knowing that perhaps I should do it 'losing' X amount of money. At the club they emphasize that everything is still open regarding the Dutchman's situation.

This is what we should have done 1 month back when Barcelona were fooling around with us. Better late than never.

Next step should be to withdraw any bid pertaining to FDJ.

If Chelsea aren't interested in FDJ, I doubt he's moving anywhere this window. Let Barcelona keep all their players, activate their fourth and fifth levers, and make a joke of themselves. We shouldn't bail them out.

So the deferred wages were indeed an issue that was completely out of Utd`s hands if the Spanish are saying it
This makes me confident again we`ll get FDJ

I think no-one really doubted that the deferred wages were a major obstacle. The question is will he accept a settlement offer from Barca and then will he have options as to where he goes? I don’t see that there is any particular reason to be confident but we can always hope.

It's just Barca leaking BS trying to get us to panic and pay more money. First it was supposed to be Chelsea coming in and snapping him up but after Tuchel denied them being in the market for a midfielder, they now have to make up another rumor to get us to panic.

Wait before PsG sign Ruiz and then we will have another bs tweet from Romero.

He's supposed to be earning 29m gross according to his contract...

Wanting to stay at a club that's been dicking him around and been skint to pay him what he's owed while splurging unprecedented sums is quite the choice though

:nono: :nono:

So they’re going to sign FDJ after just signing 3 midfielders in a couple of weeks.
Sounds ridiculous but the rumour is based on Veratti and the new PSG coach not getting along. Then add that Barcelona need rid of FDJ, want Silva and City will want a Silva replaced and you have a merry go around story.

If Romero is tier 1 for Barca, what are the rest like...
I've no doubt he gets drip fed some info, but he certainly makes most of it up. He is sensationalist.

In Spain, Relevo are considered the best and most reliable. For Barca id also give Mundo some credit. Sport are wank but i think there are 1 or 2 writers who are decent

Absolutely ridiculous if money is the only thing holding this up

100%. Putting all your eggs in one basket, when dealing with a clearly complex situation is terrible planning.

You either pressure the seller into paying up the owed wages, or you can potentially buy a player you can work with in pre-season. Regardless of whether we get De Jong or not, not putting alternatives in place was crazy.

He does seem a bit simple if I'm honest

Tuchel hasn't denied being in the market for a midfielder. Its just not first priority, a CB is. But he is open to every option regarding the squad.

That isnt a manager ruling out a midfielder
