I meant to Frenkie himself. I suspect we are willing to go over 400k. I’m unsure if Chelsea would do that.

Again, they may not need to if the player wants the move. Who knows though, United have never agreed terms with de Jong so it's not clear how much we would have needed to give him to persuade him.

Why are Chelsea negotiating a fee now then? Especially if we already have a deal. They'd need a positive indication from FDJ for it to be worth their while.

What is your point? Of course De Jong is likely interested in joining them, players are generally interested in joining more than one club. A player can be interested in Chelsea and United among many other clubs.

Not going to deny that. I'm still optimistic, no reason not to be.

If it happens brilliant, but if it doesn't, then life goes on. It is quite ironic how Barca basically steal two players from right out of Chelseas grasp, yet Chelsea are willing to give them the financial boost they need haha. It's comical, but thats football at the end of the day. Lets just see what happens
You're a happy go lucky kinda guy, huh? That's good. Most aren't.

Most have been fed lies and BS for years while our club has been feckin run into the ground. Mauled.

We're a shadow of our former selves. People are upset. Don't be surprised that they're negative right now.

We will find out at the end of this window.

If De Jong joins United, you were/are chatting utter shit.
Honestly, I hope that happens but we have all seen how this club is run by a bunch of amateurs and this time its nothing new.

Jesus Christ what a shitshow. Another variable in the mix.

Its time to sort out plan B. This will drag till deadline day and we'd be left with our pants down. Get that alternative ready.

In a perfect world, we should have signed ANOTHER midfielder to replace matic, assuming eriksen is a lingard replacement.

FDJ is for me a replacement for pogba.

Thats my gripe with the glazers. We should be signing BOTH Neves AND FDJ.

Go on then..what are they?

Why wouldnt their better summer business be a factor? The fact they've had recent success (won CL) is relevant too.

Why would the fact they recently won a CL be relevant?

If I have to tell another supposed United fan about the positives of joining a club they supposedly support then I wonder how much of a United fan they actually are.. if I’m honest.

Haven’t kept up with those at all. What should I be saying, do you think?
Neither have played in Holland nor have they played for ETH. But they were ETH's targets.

So what are you saying about that, considering "ETH only signs players he knows, are dutch or have played in the dutch league"

What is your point? Of course De Jong is likely interested in joining them, players are generally interested in joining more than one club. A player can be interested in Chelsea and United among many other clubs.
Exactly. They'll evaluate all the offers on the table and take the one that best suits them.
At the end of the day, we don't know whats important to Frenkie. He might want to go somewhere where he feels valued and important, where he can play in his favoured position and is guaranteed playing time, as the first name on starting sheet. Who knows. He'll face a lot more competition at Chelsea than he will at United, but maybe thats what he likes?

United are a massive club the way Liverpool have been a massive club during the 00's when they won very little

To the fanbase and history of football we're huge but on the pitch during the last 10 years I bet Chelsea have tripled our trophy haul.

For a player like FdJ living in London playing in the CL with a proper chance of challenging for trophies is probably way more appealing to coming to United who are a fecking mess.
In the last 16 years, Chelsea have won 3 League Titles.

Folk are making them out to be titans who are scrapping for the title every single season.

They were on the brink regarding Top 4 last season and I'll bet Spurs and Arsenal have better seasons than them and Tuchel gone by the end of next season.

Eriksen isn't a Lingar replacement, Lingard was an end of the bench player that was barely useful. Eriksen is supposed to be a regular starter and far superior footballer.

I think the criticism of the club with this particular transfer is unjustified. The club agreed the fee well in advance. Personal terms have not been an issue at all. There’s literally nothing else the club could have done in order to get him. Yes you can argue we could have put a deadline in place but then there would be complaints that the board didn’t back the manager.

What do you think we’re going to pay him? He will almost certainly be on 350k
I just never thought of it and assumed it would be reasonable because people never talk about it and the CAF is usually obsessed and annoyed with players on high wages. I guess it doesn't apply when it's a new signing they are desperate for. 300k maximum I would have thought

I said yesterday that having another club involved suits both Barca and De Jong.

Absolutely. Better for Barca because they can make more money out of his sale, and better for de Jong because he has more options at his disposal. It may even help him to truly believe that staying at Barcelona isn't his best option any more.

The thought of throwing ridiculous wages at him doesn't sit right with me. I understand that it may be what it takes to get the transfer done, but...it feels like it's just creating another problem of a different kind.

Sorry that’s a stupid post. Essentially all Chelsea have over United is the CL. That’s it.

You could add plenty of positives to moving to United if you wanted.

DeJong can be pretty much assured that ETH will play him in his favoured role. Couldn't say the same for Tuchel.
Some recent quotes from him that this is pretty important to him.

Fecking Ragnick was a huge mistake. We could have gotten top four easily if the interim wasn't completely inept.

FDJ would have been done and dusted if we had CL. Losing this to Chelsea is going to fecking hurt.

I wonder what exactly is our so called hierarchy doing? Absolute lack of reliable information from our end, whereas there are now reports from Tier 1 sources that Chelsea are more or less hijacking the deal.
To be fair this only seems to be a saga due to Barcas situation and their constant leaking to the press about deadlines and levers etc
I’ve been fully critical of all involved but not getting into a leaking war isn’t one of them. If we don’t get him then fair enough but I don’t think it’s been this bare knuckle ride that it’s made out to be from our end.

Just sounds like they are positioning themselves and nothing is actually agreed.

I meant as more of a positional replacement rather than squad status.

It sort of makes sense because I'd imagine Eriksen is on similar wages to what lingard commanded.

FDJ of course would take up the wages of pogba.

We never agreed personal terms with de Jong.

How embarrassing. We should have firstly been 100% sure he wants to join

Don't overlook the city. It's London vs Manchester as well for family and all that

Actually in a normal world that's what other clubs would have done but not us.

I'm talking about De Jong though, is he a united fan? You have to look at it from his perspective.

Recently winning the CL is a decent indication that the club is competitive.

Possibly, I hope you're right.

The league is so hard to win these days though, look at Liverpool nobody will doubt they are in the top 3 clubs in Europe for the past 5 years and have only won 1 title as well.

Anyway we're going off topic I just feel that at this moment in time we are a way behind Chelsea on the pitch.

Huge mistake and absolute fraud.

We should have walked top four easily.

Who reported FdJ think United are a mess?

Also, didn't you just suggest United are broke and are using the "saga" to appease the fans..?

There were tweets last week, obviously they were dismissed pretty sharpish on here. Something to the effect that he believes we a poorly run etc.

Regarding the bolded part, potentially we are happy to let this distract people and it not go anywhere.

No I’ve never ever said that, you must be mixing me up with another poster.

I meant it is likely that ETH and FDJ are on good enough terms to be honest about their intentions, as far as possible.

Only way if chelsea sign him,he has to cut down his wages significantly. No way we offer 450 k to him as united offered. If he is willing to cut his wages he will do that and will stay at barcelona.

There is no logic in this rumour otherwise someone forced to make him believe he loves chelsea more than his dream barcelona secretly from young age something like in inception movie.

I only see this as good news, as I can get better odds on him coming United.
