Open to offers
That's definitely the most important thing about this entire saga.
its so weird how many on here would rather be right in front of a bunch of internet strangers than the club they support do well.

Disagree. There's far more to London than the tourist sights and a couple of degrees of heat. I really like manchester - it's an absolutely great city - but London just has more to offer for someone earning absurd fantasy money. Also, given the amount these people earn, I suspect they're probably not bothered about the difference in the cost of living north vs south (though manchester certainly ain't cheap these days!)"London living" is hilarious as a concept in the context of Premier League footballers.
Of course, they're all taking selfies in front of Big Ben and riding the London Eye followed by a day out shopping on Oxford Street and a nice, relaxed picnic in Hyde Park.
As I've already stated in the thread, the material difference between their lived experience vs. Cheshire is miniscule. Training ground during the week, milling around their mansion with the family in the evening, driving their sports cars at the weekend, private dining and shopping away from public glare.
If the weather or setting was a huge factor I could see it, it isn't. If anything the north west has nicer surroundings, just a couple of degrees cooler.
I don't doubt the London factor is a thing for footballers, but it is nonsense. If anything they might as well go to a North West club and end their careers with a lot more money in the bank given the difference in cost of living.
Why does it feel that the image of these two linen clad men will still haunt us in 5 years time. Will be hard to live down for them.
But…….FDJ hasn’t actually signed for Chelsea.Imagine CEO and Director of Football travelling to Barca, snapped.....And a new owner with zero experience in negotiating comes and take away the player who we have been chasing for months.....
Irrespective of whatever we say, it will look so so so funny, we will be a laughing stock...
to be fair, it's not - short distance from west london on the M25 (when the traffic is moving)

Especially considering I am going to poop on their lawn every day.

If there were a strong structure in place, that wouldn't be the case. When he went to Ajax, he bought some players from his old clubs but they had the right structure and scouting network to support him with other players and he didn't oppose that.
How much will you take for Jorg?We really need to shift some midfielders if we’re signing De Jong.
We have Kovacic, Kante, Jorginho, RLC, Mount, Gallagher, Barkley, Carney, Gilmour and Hutchinson now. We have a massively bloated squad in general so we really need to start shipping players out.
You're not Borys Johnson?
It is absolutely ridiculous that people are blaming ETH. You would imagine, especially since he is jumping from Ajax to United, that he will get massive help or a handbrake regarding recruitment and be focused on coaching.
Nope, not at United. We will let you do everything. And then blame you for everything.
Can’t see Neves being alternative as he is a vastly different player. If we've really spent the whole summer identifying alternatives to De Jong and the best the club can come up with is Neves, who will probably cost as much as him, then we are truly a disgrace of a club and deserve the failure. I really, really hope he's not the backup.
You overrate our scouting department. Can’t see Neves being alternative as he is a vastly different player.

We’ll happily take Kante and Kovacic for the €80m Frenkie will cost.We really need to shift some midfielders if we’re signing De Jong.

Yeah, whatever you think, London is one of a handful of "international" cities where the rich and famous have access to an entirely different lifestyle. It's the only place in the UK to offer that, and one of a few cities in Europe.
It's right on the outside. It's only 20 miles away, you can drive into Chelsea in about 30/40 minutes.Isn't it outside the Greater London?
What compelled you to write that?I’m absolutely loving the meltdown in here. It’s magnificent.
I think there's more resignation on display than anything approaching hysteria.I’m absolutely loving the meltdown in here. It’s magnificent.

The Neves links as the alternative really concern me tbh, would be typical United paying over the odds for an average 'PL proven' player just due to familiarity.
Fabian Ruiz is right there with less than a year left on his contract
I am a forgiving person I believe in redemption.She’s a closet Scouser!
I agree, nothing has changed in the sense that the news being reported is the exact same "de Jong wants to stay". Having Chelsea come in may change that, it may not. My guess is, thinking about it all, it likely won't change anything. No matter what happens ever, you back the club and stick up for everything they decide, so it's all a bit worthless, there's zero balance.
The meltdown in here IS over the top though, because nothing has really changed, nothing of note from the De Jong side of things.
I didn't realize that Cobham was that far. It reminds me as a kid going to watch theLondonWasps, they had nothing to do with London.

I think first and foremost I'd just say more choice. Manchester has amazing restaurants, London just has more. Manchester has high end stores, London just has more. Manchester has exclusive, high end nightclubs, London just has more. London is better connected to the rest of the world, transport-wise. London has better galleries and a broader choice of cultural options more generally (theatre, opera, ballet etc). Again, I'm not knocking manchester at all - I love the city - it's just that London has more choice in pretty much every area. Can you enlighten me? Not being a dick, I just genuinely can't picture what these things are.
The amount of free time they have to enjoy the finer things is life is fairly minimal anyway, and the extended free time they do have will be spent overseas away from the UK anyway.
For a tourist or someone living there (on reasonable money) who isn't a celebrity or a dedicated professional sportsman yes I can see the appeal of London, completely. I love London and have been there loads (less so in the past couple of years which is a shame) but when it's used as a reason for players to not move to United I feel like it's a stick being used by the London media to beat the club, and by extension the city itself.
Not sure I agree on the final point here re: north vs. south, do a search on Right Move in Cheshire for properties £2m+ and you'll see mansions surrounded by 16 acres of land, do the same in London and you'll get flats - some of which are going for over £50million+
