Last report I think it was just over 10 they offered€17m apparently, and it was reported Barcelona have offered him €7m of that.

Yep
A sure as the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, the club will dither and not act decisively, and the other big clubs will improve while we stagnate.
Say goodbye to the last blundering idiot running our transfer activity and hello to the new blundering idiot running our transfer activity.
Joke of a club.
100 percent this is true. He can’t be upset about this since it’s all on him.Eh I can see not wanting to question the new manager, I certainly don't, I still back him obviously, think he's the right man, very excited for the season and future. But doesn't change my belief that the club wouldn't still be intent on signing him if it wasn't for Ten Hag, he'll be the reason we haven't moved on (that and the fact we'll truly believe we can sign him).
In what way have we fecked around? This is just funny. Serves us right for seemingly fecking around.
Not Chelsea specific. I just mean in general. United spending months in a saga just for another club to eventually get him seemingly overnightWhen did it happen before? Mikel and Hazard, ten years ago?
I’d argue we need both Neves and FDJ. They are your more creative pivots, then McT and Fred are your ball-winners and runners. That would see us having two players for every position for a 23-man squad should Ronaldo stay, Jones and Bailly leave, Garner secure a loan move, and two of Telles, AWB and Williams leave.Sure, but how much will there actually be to blame anyone for?
By which I mean say Neves is our second choice target and we end up signing him. How much have we actually lost out in that scenario versus moving on from FDJ earlier and signing Neves?
As long as it doesn't actually cost us signings we would have otherwise made there's not that much lost bar maybe signing Neves a few weeks earlier, though it wouldn't have been overly surprising if that dragged out until near deadline in either case.
Without knowing what we've lost out on in a concrete way yet it it'd look and feel bad more than anything else, not securing our obvious main summer target. But in real terms the lack of spending on other positions so far is a much bigger issue.
He hasn’t publicly stated anything. That’s somewhat the issue: we are having to place blind faith in ETH and the club being certain the player will join us should the deferred wage issue with Barcelona be resolved. It’s very hard to have that faith.Heads should roll for this.
Not even hyperbole either, how the feck do you spend 3 months chasing a player who publicly stated he didn’t want to come 50 times.
Giving power of transfers and squad building to another manager instead of an experienced DOF, when the same strategy has failed for Moyes, LvG, Mourinho, and Ole. We're failing to get target that would massively improve the team because they're either not Dutch or not affiliated with Ajax.
Waiting if he didn’t want to join and let someone else steal him obviouslyIn what way have we fecked around?
Maybe. It’s only really in the PL that this idea of backing the manager is sacred to this extent. They should still be exercising their own judgement. They don’t just have to Thelma and Louise it off the edge of a cliff together.I see where you're coming from, but if United moved on from the transfer weeks ago, a lot of noises would've been made how United didn't back the manager and didn't deliver his targets. They still didn't, if he goes to Chelsea, of course, but for different reasons, mind
It's alright, we'll purge the Chelsea, Barca and Liverpool fans. Right, @golden_blunder, right?!If Chelsea signs De Jong, I'll avoid the cafe at least until we produce a decent run of result.
Laughter will numb the pain a bit.I don’t understand the “if he goes to Chelsea I’ll laugh my head off” type comments
Doesn't it kind of dilute the comedy a bit when it happens every transfer window for 10 years.
If anything it would be funnier if United pulled it off surely
Heads should roll for this.

He hasn’t publicly stated anything.
When has he publicly stated anything? He’s on a massive contract at his dream club and has sat there quietly like he’s perfectly entitled to do.Heads should roll for this.

Because of Ten Hag and his insistence on waiting for him to magically change his mind.Heads should roll for this.

Totally on board with your first paragraph, been saying all summer going strictly for ETHs former players and Dutch players makes me a bit uneasy. Would prefer some bigger picture planning from the club, but here we are nowMaybe. It’s only really in the PL that this idea of backing the manager is sacred to this extent. They should still be exercising their own judgement. They don’t just have to Thelma and Louise it off the edge of a cliff together.
Obviously, the outcome will dictate whether all of this has been time well spent or not. But if he goes somewhere else after all of this, it’ll be a really harsh, early lesson for ETH and the club. I mean, they’ve already made it clear they don’t think much of the Plan B options out there.
First and foremost, I still think we'll sign him, but in the event we don't, Ten Hag deserves a huge percentage of the blame. We're clearly going for his targets, and it'll be his choice we've given up the entire summer to get him.
Is it a big deal when the alternatives are not even close to De Jong’s quality?Because of Ten Hag and his insistence on waiting for him to magically change his mind.
Not a good start for Eric.
All we can go by is what FDJ is telling us. Maybe he lied knowing he never wanted to leave in the first place?
It's not really the clubs fault, we've pushed as hard as we can.
If Chelsea are truly interested then we will see whether he's still desperate to stay. If he just doesn't want to join us then there isn't much we can do is there?
I was over this deal a week ago mateThe one positive of all of this is that @Berbaclass might finally be able to get some rest. You've earned it, brother.
I wish I was getting Di Maria vibes

Didn’t realise Ten Hag is head of recruitment and sporting director the clubBecause of Ten Hag and his insistence on waiting for him to magically change his mind.
Not a good start for Eric.
Also a bit worrying that his former player actually doesn't seem to have much confidence in him.
Wolves will see us coming and demand I think they were quoted £60M not worth that. Maybe a Ruiz/Laimer with Sangare who knows what they want now.
