Which reports are you referring to, here? I'm curious to see where this is all coming from.Im going straight from the Spanish reports, rather than the botched translations going around. I speak fluent Spanish just for clarification.

ThisOn second thought I'm not so sure going after this guy is all great, he'll be on massive wages might turn out good but not great to justify his wages.
He was good and not great at Barcelona and everybody is referring to his positional use, just like we give excuses to all all signings before this weaknesses resurface here.
We should probably be targeting a player from a smaller club from one of the lesser leagues were the price is lesser and wages is lesser, that's the way to go if we don't want a repeat of the Pogba scenario.
This
Give the lad Caqueret from Lyon a look. He's good in the tackle, is zippy and has sublime technique. I reckon he could be gotten for less than De Jong and will be a better player in the long run.

No, its from today. Most likely around the same time that Romero tweet. He did jump the gun but Barca has no choice but to sell him and we are the only contenders.
Yeah, I saw that. He's probably being lined up by PSG for next year. I wonder if Lyon could be temptedNot sure he is interested in moving this summer, just signed a new contract 2 weeks ago. He is a player i like, but maybe not for this summer.
He is very good. Also he controls the concepts of the positional game, and would save a lot of time for ETH.Is he that good? Just screams the classic United disappointing signing. The only thing I like is that he has worked under ETH.
He had the 4th most minutes played, do Barcelona start most matches with only 3 players? This idea we are paying 70-80m for one player who has been underwhelming given his ability for a while is ridiculous imo. Unless the price is quite a bit lower than that this ain't happening.
He isn't a stater at his club and has been underwhelming since moving there, not to add that'd be a large chunk of our budget and we need to sign several positions this summer (with us seemingly not being interested in the free transfer opportunities)
He's amazeballs. Would be our best central midfielder since prime Carrick, and, if he comes, I reckon he'll end up in the same tier as Charlton, Robson, Keane and Scholes as one of our best central midfielders ever by the end of his time here.Is he that good? Just screams the classic United disappointing signing. The only thing I like is that he has worked under ETH.
Feels like both he and his former Ajax teammate De Ligt haven’t come close to living up to the hype since they moved. They were talked up as being the next big things and both have just been decent but nothing special. Is he that good? Just screams the classic United disappointing signing. The only thing I like is that he has worked under ETH.
Good to know. He is streaming on Twitch today, and he has mentioned something about an ultimatum that we sent to de Jong according to the other aggregators. Maybe he might have mentioned some other stuff that hasn't been picked up on yet. That Gerard Romero fella.
I’ve got a source in the club that I’ve asked for information from. He’s never given me any transfer info before, just anecdotes of stuff from the training ground, so I’m not holding my breath. But figured I’d give it a shot. Even if he does tell me anything, I’m almost certainly keeping it to myself lest I get beaten with the ITK ban hammer in here.
Reminds me of that summer when Moyes got dumped by Fabregas. Can we get players who actually want to play for the club for a change
I know a lot of people don't think highly of the club right now, but I still think it's an incredible opportunity playing for United, and we need players who are eager to be here. Barcelona won't be an issue that's for sure, but we shouldn't wait all summer for anyone.
Big star player, big fee, doesn't want to leave his club, big wages, probably doesn't want to come here, questions over if could he adapt to the league/Manchester?
This could be the type of signing we've been getting wrong for years now.
Finally, someone spoke the correct words.
For the last decade, we have been focused on Galactico players (big transfer fees, big wages) who don't necessarily want to join us.
Why then, having made those mistakes which have placed us in the worst position for over 30 years, are we following the same path again?
If De Jong is not desperate to join us, we need to look elsewhere.
In fact, if De Jong was offered to us for £10M I wouldn't take him.
The guy wants to stay Barca. Leave him be.
This guy summarised it nicely...
If the reports are true, then we should look elsewhere.Again we are doing the same thing, go after a big name player by begging him to join. Why not go for a player who actually wants to play for us.
De Jong was instrumental under ten Hag at Ajax, Ajax's most important player. Maybe Tadic came close at times in different ways but De Jong was the heartbeat. Is he that good? Just screams the classic United disappointing signing. The only thing I like is that he has worked under ETH.

Thanks. That may have come from Oriol Domenech, then, as that first part is basically what he said. Yeah, this is definitely a 50/50 situation rather than being as dead as it seems. If he rejects us here, then we're definitely going to move on. This doesn't seem like the Cesc Fabregas/Di Maria case that it's being made out to be.What I heard said on the Spanish podcast I was listening to (not sure which it was, my step-son had it on) was that we’d agreed a fee, Frankie had initially said no, but Ten Hag had called him several times and now he was trying to make up his mind. United had issued an ultimatum because they didn’t want things to drag on, and the fact Barca had made clear to Frankie that they’d accept the offer if he agreed to go, might push it in our favour. It was only a short minute or so. Sounds pretty 50/50 to me.
