Is he going to play with Matic and Pogba, i.e. to replace Herrera?
Those passes look so foreign to me. I don't watch football other than United and I've become accustomed to seeing our players make sideway passes most of the time when they're in the final third.
Also, not many of our players make runs anymore.
You're overrating Zidane.Would be a statement of intent for Burnley. Not sure Real Madrid need him with Casemiro, Kroos, Modric etc
He grew into it after a while or they got tired, but I think City and the press they usher had that effect on many teams last season as it's not 'english' way and shocking to face, it exposes mediocre decision-making and lack of pace OR lack of preparation for it as a team. Not something sides are trained to face domestically and very hard to practice against given a change of mindset is needed. I guess the novelty factor fades too as mid coaches do try to counter. With just 1 team they can skip those fixtures or hope for best but if it's a trend with many teams opting higher press they will be forced to build more towards it making it harder. With Fred, Sanchez, Lingard or Willian, we would all of a sudden have the potential to press a lot and be more versatile/mobile. I like where this is going. Doubt we will lead any passing or pressing game vs City any ever way we play but widening the bag of tools is very nice move. Fred look a bit like many different players rolled into one high energy package. Mou vs pep is always fun, no doubt he will find a formula for those fixtures.I've only watched the City highlights, have you seen lots of him?
Against City he was late to a lot of challenges, enough to pick up enough yellow cards to be sent off. He seems a bit rash. I didn't think he looked strong, easily knocked over.
There is clearly some talent, but looks quite raw to me. I think he'll need bulking up for Premiership and will take a couple of seasons for him to work out when skills are useful and when they aren't. Against City they didn't gain him any benefit, just ran into City players.
You have watched highlights from one game.
Im glad I'm not the only one to see this.Castles is just an apprentice comparing to Marzio. Trying to get involved when the new has been already broken by someone else, what a pathetic effort
Castles is just using Di Marzio as a reliable source for the news and repackaging it for his British audience.Im glad I'm not the only one to see this.
Castles couldn't say Fred to Utd was agreed or his article would be a carbon copy of Di Marzios article with the added Arnautovic news so he changes the one aspect that can easily be bluffed.
Oh the fee wasn't agreed when Do Marzio said it was, it was a day later..
If he wins Saturday, how many Champions Leagues in a row would that be? And how many seasons as manager would that mean he HASNT won it?You're overrating Zidane.
Yeah that video is really not that bad. Ignore the first 30 seconds (nervous start I assume) and it's pretty decent. He's playing against a strong City midfield that press like demons, he won't have anything like that in Ukraine.I watched that game against City. The entire Shakhtar looked in shock by that level of high pressure for obvious reasons. His highlights in that game look so bad because in the first 30 minutes he was like an amateur there. Then he could adapt to that level and did ok.
After those games Pep Guardiola tried to sign him for 50 millions, it was confirmed by Shakhtar president this week.
People need to calm down watching highlights of one or two games. Its not like the scouts of a massive club work. The two best coaches in the world want to sign the player. And the coach of the Brazilian nt did not call Jorginho(when he could) or Fabinho, but Fred is in the squad.
Valencia isn't going to be benched, there are positions with more urgent need of replacing. And Continue with Valencia on the right? Hell no he needs benching too.

Most managers could hand pick 11 players and still not win consecutive Champions Leagues
Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred will decide his future after the World Cup amid interest from Manchester United.
The Brazil international is linked with a move to United, with champions Manchester City having almost landed the 25-year-old in January.
Speaking at a news conference on Thursday, Fred said he was yet to decide his next move – and will now wait until after Russia 2018 to make an announcement.
"There's been some advanced talks since January, when I almost went to Man City," he said.
"United talked to my staff and Shakhtar. But besides these strong news, my head is entirely with the World Cup.
"Gilberto Silva [his agent] is a guy in which I trust, he deals with all off-pitch stuff. My family is always well informed, too.
"I don't know what I'm going to choose, maybe I'll decide better after the World Cup."
Pronounced "Fredge" apparently.
Could possibly be more offers? Or he's waiting to see if he has a good world cup and can boost his wages or get a move to Madrid/Barcelona?What choice is there to make ffs? Stay in Ukraine or play for United

Not a fan of giving Brazilians English names.
Frederico Rodrigues dr Paula Santos sounds better.
His video reminds me of Anderson and for some reason I can anticipate them through balls disintegrating in the EPL and just not coming off. Call me a pessimist. Call it the realisation that he will not be afforded such space and the defences will be more organised with teams sitting deep against us.I am really excited with this transfer. From watching some videos I can't understand any comparisons with Fernandinho. They are nothing alike. Fred looks like a proper box to box midfielder capable of driving through the midfield and also picking out some really good through balls .He plays with a lot of energy and he can also help build up from midfield like Dembele does for Tottenham. He doesn't seem to be fazed with someone pressing him and I think this is key because we have lacked composure in our midfield sometimes. Herrera always looks to pass back to where the ball comes from even if he has acres of space. Fellaini is Fellaini. With Fred i think we will be a different team in attack.
I don't know how good his playmaking is. Personally it needs to be better than Pogba's if we are going to free Pogba up and relieve him from such duties. Pogba may already be at Juve levels in his output. This guy needs to come with Kroos level playmaking from deep or it could be anticlimaticReally excited about this guy. A defensive midfielder who can also do the playmaking stuff. Will free up Pogba to do his thing so he'll be back to his Juve level next season.
This bloke might just be the missing link to gel the team even though I know it's still going to be a very compact defensive minded team but Jose's teams in his first Chelsea stint were mostly fun to watch and usually won about 4-0 so maybe next season is when it all finally gels.
Agree fully. Will improve us defensively I think but going forward I don't think we will improve much against defensive sides. He does not seem to have the passing range and vision of a world class midfielder which is what we need to improve attacking wise in possession. Epl will not allow him penetration in the midfield attacking wise like he has in Shaktar, thus will result in passing the ball diagonally sideways which is a problem we face even with Matic.
A good work rate and tenacity player but those qualities tend to fade away with age and fitness problems but the class of a playmaker with vision and passing range always remains the same. You can always count Modric , Alonso , Carrick ,Scholes Xavi ,Iniesta ,Schweinsteiger Kroos in world-class category but I am not sure players like Ramires, Matuidi Even Vidal to some extent make it to that level consistently and I find Fred in the Second category of Midfielders unfortunately.
If its between Jorginho and Fred I think we are once again making a wrong choice. If fred adds competition for places in Matic's position than it'll be fine, but I don't see him as Carrick's replacement one bit. We need to replace class with class on that one. I don't see him as a playmaker which will make Man united a Fearsome side of Fergie days, which we have seen all our lives specially who were born after Fergie took over.
You're speculating and he's been wrong before. The choice has already been made. When Di Marzio says deal has been agreed its because he got direct word from agents.
Fred is Red

Only Lb for now. Valencia is still in great shape and probably one of the first names on the team sheet. What makes you think he will be replaced this summer? Maybe next summer but not now.You don't think our FB positions are in urgent need of replacing??
Yes, he has, no matter how you choose to spin it. You have it straight from the player's mouth that he hasn't made a decision yet and you choose to believe a journo (who has been wrong before) over that? That's not speculating. Di Marzio pays agents for information.
And no he hasn't been wrong before, it's just people seem to have no idea how to actually process the information he puts out.
Fred could change his mind and the deal could fall through. But you can be certain that a deal has been agreed. Until a contract is signed a player can do whatever he wishes, that doesn't mean someone was wrong.
Hopefully he's just talking it down to cut the hype before the world cup, but it's a bit weird he's saying "he will choose" after.
Hopefully. Is he going to play with Matic and Pogba, i.e. to replace Herrera?

And even if he does pay agents for his transfer news (do you have a source to confirm that?), agents work for their players and for themselves. If they feel it's in their interests to get bullshit out in the public domain, they'll do it.
No worries. You are right mate. I completely forgot about Gomez. Di Marzio has been on a hot streak lately (especially with the Alexis Sanchez deal) so my apologies.
That’s just Brazilian pronunciation of “Fred”, the same way they do that weird thing where they pronounce “sport” as “esporte”
So his agents decide his future?
Football become just a matter for who pays more.
