Will benefit Lingard and Rashford the most imo
All I can think of is Moe chatting about Fred?
Is it me or does his close ball control in tight spaces not look too great?

Do you take PayPal?"Fred the Red". I'm copywriting that. 50p per use.
People still hoping for Pogba to be 'freed'
This is the Pogba replacement, and Pogba is being moved further up the pitch to compete with Lingard and Mata as forwards that drop into midfield. Pogba has shown he doesn't do the basics reliably and so cannot be trusted to run the team.
Matic will mop up the loose balls and cover the spaces in defense. Fred will drive the ball forward and provide incisive passes. Pogba will play as a playmaker against the smaller teams and a third midfielder against the big teams.
Sounds good, right? I hope so at least.

Not just you. There are quite a few poor touches in his highlight videos that will be punished in a better league. He does have excellent movement on the ball and good close control once he's got the ball under control though.
We need a cm who's main strength is close control in tight spaces and fast tempo play, that's the thing I'm slightly worried about He looks like a great signing for the money and is a big upgrade from Herrera etc. but he doesn't come across as the playmaker we're crying out the most for at the moment.I've watched two matches of all his touches in those games now (against City and Roma), and he doesn't strike me as one to play fast-paced football. He looks a bit like a safe-player which is good for some occasions, but our problems are with opening up the small compact teams.
I'm not yet sure he's an improvement on what we already have, but at least he's played in the 8 position and isn't a player shoehorned in. But maybe we need him for a healthy competition in midfield too to make both Matic, McTominay and Herrera up their game. I hope I'm happily surprised.
I kinda agree with this
I think the best balance for us would be a Kante and a Kroos - Matic is a nice big lad and all but he's not superb at any of the roles for me - box to box, playmaker, enforcer - he just seems to do them all ok
as for Pogba I hope so - he's the most important player in our team in many ways linking our rigid midfield and defence to a sometimes isolated attack
We all said Pogba was the midfielder we'd been missing, then we said Matic was the player we'd been missing and would free up Pogba and now Fred is the player we've been missing. I'll reserve judgement because our style of football seems to mean our midfield has no bearing on our play.
He's gone from BBC to the Sun?! Thanks for sharing.. He has a good assessment of south american players always..An article on Fred by the respected journalist Tim Vickery from a few months ago:

Good lord how underwhelming that video of all his touches is.

Can't believe this hasn't been made official yet, just typical of our summer so far, Woody needs to pull his finger out and stop fannying around, we're being left in everyone else's dust.
Brazil will play in Liverpool in ten days. Maybe they will announce the deal with Fred in England. Can't believe this hasn't been made official yet, just typical of our summer so far, Woody needs to pull his finger out and stop fannying around, we're being left in everyone else's dust.
Probably trying to seal a popcorn deal in Dubai or something tbh ridiculous
That's what Richard Arnold is there for. Stupid Woody.
He isn’t there anymore I think? Got some UEFA or FA position. Or he might be a Liverpool fan now that TAA plays for them
sorry if posted already but nice video - looks to be a positive energetic player - plenty of forward passing and running
Nah, Anderson was unique, thankfully. Our new Anderson?
I agree. Most of the times a couple of competitive matches is enough to have some rough idea about a player, but even in this kind of youtube clip I would just expect higher technical quality from anyone we're linked to. But that obviously does not mean he's not good enough. Just that the video failed to present what are his strenghts as a player. Its best to take it as it is.
Fans have a habit of holding on to first impressions. Its why Utd fans were shocked at Bayern fans criticising Thiago in his thread.
Its best to read the opinions of pundits who have seen him play and come to some sort of aggregate conclusion IMO.
This sounds pretty much bang on.People still hoping for Pogba to be 'freed'

Are we getting ahead of ourselves?
