Frank Lampard's Sack Watch / Sacked

Some of the players he brought in have either been injured or sick and it really does take time to settle in for some players, especially in these times when their families might not be round them. Would it have hurt Chelsea that much to let him see out the season. Tuchel is poisonous. He will get them playing better, but will alienate everybody at the club eventually.

Shit, that's an upgrade! :(
Meh. I’d have gone for Allegri. Tuchel will fall out with the board as he does everywhere else in about 12 months time

Really the biggest issue for Lampard has just been the lack of progress. Last season was acceptable but you can't spend £250 million and make no progress and in fact, go backwards. That's something I think Ole has continually done even in bad periods, we have had the overarching progress clear to see.

Celtic would be a great move for Lampard if he were offered the job

Probably the biggest job he'd likely get now

Chelsea only deal in short term hires anyway, and Tuchel's football is much more pleasing and interesting. I can see why Roman went for him. It'll end in a meltdown, but it always does there.

Feels harsh but it is Chelsea afterall. They’re midtable halfway through the season. Managers have been sacked there in the past for finishing 2nd.

You can go backwards after spending £250M the issue is when you bring so many players in they need to learn to play together, they need to adapt to the premier league and some of them need more experience.

He effectively replaced an entire spine of a team, that isn't going to have an instant impact.

Ruthless by Chelsea but the right call.
Says enough when oppo fans want him to stay.

Better to cut losses if it's not working out instead of romanticizing the idea of a former legend being manager.

Yeah that's a good point. I'm still not sure what their transfer strategy was. Havertz and Werner are looking like two of biggest flops in PL history right now.
The buys were awful too in the sense that most of them weren't needed. They needed at least £150m of that £220m to have been spent on the defence and they didn't.

Inevitable given how much was spent in the summer but seems pointless sacking Lampard if Tuchel's the replacement

As a United fan this is a bit annoying. This Chelsea squad on paper has a lot of potential. If Tuchel gets a tune out of them they could make a charge from this point on.

Those Germans have got Lampard the sack, pile of shit the pair of them.

Im not so sure though, I think it was more the internal power play within PSG that made everything sour.

But its not without its irony that Chelsea is set up much the same way.

Even though Chelsea is bold in moving for a top class replacement when he is available, when you get so many new players a downturn is really unavoidable.

Its not really Lampards fault, but he has to have had some say in bringing on all these players.

A bit harsh, maybe could have given him till the end of the season and then made a decision, but having Tuchel available was probably too tempting.

It is usually managers who get the short straw in such situations, the players and the board are not going to lose their jobs.

I do agree, in fact, I constantly told the Chelsea fans at the start of the season to calm down as its unlikely that all their new toys would come in and have an instant impact. The issue is I didn't expect none of them to really have an impact. All the while, Lampard didn't really have them playing as well as last season so it was only going to end one way.

Got sacked when he had Mbappe and Neymar to play with so we'll see!

Whilst true, he had the highest win percentage in the history of that league. He wasn’t sacked for performances, it was more related to a power struggle.

Issue for Lampard is they spent big in the summer

Almost too big, though.

They completely changed their squad in a way that I'm not sure Lampard would have necessarily advocated for. He finished top 4, finalist of FA Cup and showed there was promise with their young squad. From there, you would think a 3/4 key additions and growth. But the transformation clearly came from elsewhere looking to build a squad that could be managed by bigger and better names.

This sesaon always had shades of Di Matteo's second for me. Board waiting for the excuse they needed to pursue their tried and tested approach.

Damn, I was hoping they'd consolidate their lower half status before sacking him. We might have to look over our shoulder for top 4 if we drop off a bit.

Hard to judge him on that when PSG have walked the league almost every year since 2013.

I remember when United played Lyon in the CL when Ronaldo had the laser in his eyes all game, Benzema was a promising youngster and Lyon had won something like 6 in a row it seemed absurd at the time.

Lost the dressing room per my post yesterday and this was inevitable unfortunately.

Lampard the first to fall out of the trio of former player managers in big clubs.

Lineker disagrees. There's something to say for it, but unfortunately I think Chelsea doesn't have the luxury to wait on it whilst missing the CL and stuff like that, & there's also no guarantee that Lampard is the right person to turn it around either.

Who was that twat that said he had no doubts Lampard will do much better than Ole?

I have a friend who supports Chelsea. 2 weeks ago I messaged him saying maybe it's time to sack Lampard to wind up him a bit, he said Ole gets sacked before Lampard and goes I'll bet you. I didn't take it sadly (I've gone soft). Would have been the easiest 20 quid ever.
