Fowler to Leeds?

I don't know where Leeds got the money from but I can't imagine that they would sell Robinson as there is no-one to replace him and Martyn is getting on in years.

I'd imagine if anyone was to go it would be Jason Wilsox as Seth Johnson can play on the left if pushed and McPhail can too.

Also if Bowyer and Woodgate don't go down Duberry will be on his way I'd say.

Leeds must be confident that Bowyer isn't going to jail as if they have no money they really need to spend it on a right-sided midfielder.

As for the strikers with Bridges out and Smith currently suspended and Robbie Keane with a broken hand and Viduka only back from international duty we were scraping the bottom of the barrel.

I'd imagine all will stay as Keane can be pushed into right midfield as well.

If Bridges comes back fit (which is probable but will probably take as long as Jamie Redknapp's recovery) then there will be 5 strikers and there would be problems there.

But playing in 3 competitions with only 3 strikers available was never going to be viable.

I'm sad for the Liverpool supporters who didn't want to see Fowler go (my little brother is a Liverpool supporter and Fowler is his favourite player) but I hope Fowler does a good job for Leeds.

Promising youngster? He's 26. Owen and Heskey are promising youngsters (and also English). What about the 'love the club' Butt, Scholes, and Cole who have been fuched over to bring in Johnny Foreigner. I Don't remember too many complaints here when the dutch donkey and argie fanny dancer were bought. If you want to see honest English players being fuched over for no apparent reason I suggest you look a little closer to home.

A point about the proposed Robbie Fowler transfer:

Has Gerard Houllier disclosed any media information i.e. Interviews/Reaction?
I wonder if he had been kept well informed of the situation as he feels Fowler is going to be a star of the Liverpool team
He was impressive against Sunderland on Sunday and has scored more than Heskey this season (Fowler has scored 171 goals in 330 games) and I am just wondering if it was Thompson who in fact engineered the deal...
I don't know - it is just strange to me that while Houllier is in hospital Thompson sells one of Liverpools best players and the fans favourite - but 2 months after falling out with him. Makes you wonder if this was a collective decision by both assistant and general manager or whether Thompson took the inishitive/advantage even while Houllier is in the hospital

thompson doesn't even pick the team without input from houllier, let alone sell players.

Well, the dippers refuse to believe it. What more can I say, other than wait and see. Thommo will be the death of this mini revival as he blindly and thoughtlessly pursues his own personal agenda. I think it's quite sad that a great club like liverpool should be reduced to a club split apart by in fighting and bitterness.

All bias aside, Fowler is a great player.

I can't believe Liverpool are selling a home-grown lad with so much talent, to one of their main rivals, and keeping Heskey - not getting into the Heskey debate, but I just think Fowler is a different class.

Well you obviously see him more than me - but it's hard to show your worth when you're in and out of the side.

At 26 surely he hasn't even reached his peak?

I do not see anybody leaving Leeds apart from maybe Wilcox....we are building a squad so it does not make sense to sell one to sign one. All the current squad new DOL's plans when they recently signed new long term contracts, that was one of the reasons they signed of course, so Vids, Smithy and Robbie K will be going nowhere.
As far as Bowyer is concerned it has always looked likely that he would receive at worst a suspended sentence so he is still in DOL's plans for the future. Woody's case looks worse and I think the signing of Rio was to replace Woody. We have coped well without him and will not miss him.
The future looks good at Leeds and I am sure there will be more signings to come following Rio's 18 million, Seths 9 million, Robbie Keane's 13 million and now Robbie Fowlers 11 million.....not bad for a team with no money eh Softy?

You'll never see the Fowler of old again IMO...

Robbie's still got the ability, but the pace and fitness has gone..perhaps he'll sort his fitness out, but then I've been saying that for years and he never has...

You can still see some of the old Robbie at times, a great touch here and there, a wonderful finish that brings back memories of the player rightfully tagged the "Best finisher in the country", but there's too many games when he looks lost, his lack of pace letting him down...

There's going to be a lot of disappointed Liverpool fans at the news...our next home game will be interesting! But he's our third choice striker and of late I've been disappointed when he starts at the expense of Heskey or Jari, talk of this costing us the title etc is nonsense...

I've been expecting this for ages, and although in some ways I'm sorry to say him go my overwhelming reaction is one of relieve...

I genuinely wish him all the best and will look on Leeds far more favourably from this day on...

Solskjaer is different, hes happy with the situation and grateful for what hes got, not to mention he gets on with the management and gets praised by Fergie which Fowler rarely got from Houllier etc,

He accepts it. He's not happy with it. How can he be happy when he's constantly dropped even during a run of form? Don't know how he must feel seeing Yorke in the side with poor form, especially after his grinning fiasco on Sunday.

Fergie praising him just adds insult in injury.

Rio and Keane were paid for by money from this years CL run... , Seth and Fowler are the rest of that loan that Leeds just took out, that's why Leeds have just consolidated their debts with a little extra on top.... :)

Viduka will be off soon. :p

All the best Robbie.

Best move for all party's imo. Just hope that Baros is the new striker people are talking about, Yorke *shudder*

Well the existing 4 are average at best and Fowler is a World class striker who may make all the difference (3rd iso 4th place come the end of the season). But I think liverpools' title chances just disappeared with that sale. Simply incomprehensible.

They've got loads of 'shit' forwards and needed a good one - their goalscoring in the PL is poor.

You'll find that at the end of the season you are the clueless tit softlad. You should instigate a Thommo out campaign before he ruins your club.

You are the biggest TiT on the planet SoftHead!! Here's a pic of that shite striker we have got called Viduka. It happens to be after he banged his FOURTH against you lot!

Your theories of us being broke are laughable too...not long ago you were saying we did not have any money to spend and yet again you are proved wrong. What does it matter where the money comes from as long as we get quality.
You got any money to spend at Anfailed...How about Arthur Fowler to replace Robbie? :D

Rarely played this season cos of a spat with Thommo. Had Thommo been ousted Fowler would have been back in the team in place of Heskey and would have found his form with a bit of support from the manager. Owen's about due another injury now. That leaves you with Heskey and who else? Litmanen who's rarely in the team, Baros who I've never even heard of (is he another Colombian doomed to failure?) and well that's about it isn't it?

Was Fowler a regular last year? or the year before? or the year before that?
Baros is a Czech player who's scored somthing like 5 goals in 9 games in his international career, he is 19.
Litmanen has been fantastic whenever he has played, hopefully this will now be a lot more often.

So we're top of the league without Fowler and you think his sale will disrupt our title bid?

Heskey was first choice with Owen last season, Fowler would not have replaced him..if you watch is play with Heskey and then without you see how much we miss him...

If Owen gets a knock Jari will play..as he did successfully earlier this season...

Baros is Czezh and sounds promising..

What you're saying doesn't add up...its like saying you'd be finished if you sold Cole
