No Enzo? Did you pick the save where you start from scratch but then still sign Caicedo and Jackson then, given you have mount and Kepa there?

Though yeah it's been a few years now where I've found much better success as a team balance dropping the wide players to be in "ML and MR" rather than "AML and AMR". Just gives a better balance. Thought about pushing my CM attack to be a support striker too, have it as my goal chasing tactic as a slight change and works pretty well but didn't commit to doing it fully.

Don't think there is any need in having a CAM. A CM in the CM (A) or Mezzala (A) role is too good in the last version and seemingly this one too.

Yeah I tried the your world option. I only signed Caicedo though, Jackson was already there although now I think about it should he have been?

Yeah I think so too but I really love the SS role and always try and use it. If not I just go DM and double mez.

Yes. He signed June 30th.

I think I saw someone say you can cheat that option for some players by setting the game world to start in a different league. Some managed to keep Havertz at Chelsea for example doing that.

He might have actually been agreed during last season, don't remember. Was confused

Yeah mezzala as one of them has been my go to for years but using a normal winger rather than an inverted one, trying to keep the midfielder central. Also Bruno isn't a dribbler at all so that's a weakness at mezzala.

Saudi has been sniffing for him though so might see if I can get 100m+ for him and bring in Musiala to be his replacement, in which case I'd probably make him a mezzala.

Interesting. He’s quality anyway. Him and Madueke on that side were really nice throughout the season. One filling in when the others form dipped.

Gyokeres is an absolute beast too.

How good does Pellistri look though

The Garnacho-Hojlund-Pellistri front three looks really nice this year. I’m going to bin off Rashford and Sancho when I manage United.

Yea he was surprisingly good for me as well. Scored like 10 goals overall and I sold him off to Bayern for 30m. Cool little profit.

What were Liverpool like in your save? Every save I've seen so far (including mine) they're City-like.
They barely finished 4th in the first season in my save and nowhere close to City. United was at the top at Christmas and finished close 2nd, ETH still at helm.
I got to 6th with Brighton, no trophies, lost the Carabao final to Arsenal after a ridiculous goal. Having plenty of fun with this version and even if it's still beta I hardly find any bugs or big issues, engine feels better than previous ones.
Rolling with the second season and targeting top4 now. My transfers were the usual suspects and a couple of youngsters

How much did you spend on Wirtz and Scalvini? Was getting big quotes for both at United

I wish you could do more with the data hub. It could be a super useful tool to help build your tactic considering the greater emphasis on positional play now. It would be pretty nice to be able to just ask for the average position of a player when playing different roles over something like 5/10 games to help tweak and plug structural gaps.

So I finished simming ahead to look at AI squad building and transfers and I think it's actually okay. I definitely don't think it's broken and some teams are better than others but on the whole, I don't think it's noticeably bad.

Maybe they could tweak the transfers as clubs still appear to be buying 28-31-year-old players a little bit too often but I am still only 8-9 years in.

I have put up some screenshots of squads or club/international teams and world transfers. I can't say that anything immediately stands out as really bad.

If anyone wants to see anything more specific let me know and I'll post later.

This is also a 300k DB with the top 10 nations loaded and the top two divisions from each country.

Little bit shit how there's one single U21 player in all of those clubs' first team squads combined, when in reality most of those sides are giving minutes to U21 players every week.

The lack of U21's has been there since they aged players a lot better. They finally realised players don't die once they turn 30 but haven't balanced out the rep and ability of the younger players.

This was prevalent in FM22 and it still doesn't seem balanced going by those screenshots.

Yeah seems like the clubs still hold on to player seen as good 'now' until they're 35/36. Doesn't look any different to the AI squad building in FM22 tbh.

United with 6 regular starters well into their 30s.

35 year old Rashford being a regular starter makes me sad.

@Berbaclass have you got a way of seeing the top young talents and their CA/PA?

There was a big issue last game (or one before) where there were basically no good regen full-backs and Kyle Walker was still being played at like 39 years old.

I don’t think so without the pre/in game editor.

That’s pretty realistic :wenger:

Is the squad building more realistic this time?
Basically do we somehow get punished if we are hoarding all decent u-18 talents (by their growth getting impacted)?

I mean it really depends on the club and I'm not sure how they can change it. I'm not defending SI here but we did sign Casemiro, Varane, Eriksen, Weghorst, Ronaldo, Cavani, Ibrahimovic, Matic just in the last few years. I'm sure I'm missing some others so it's not totally unrealistic.

Agree it will also depend on the managers. Some will just be hardcoded to want to sign older players. That’s part of the reason I’m not in a rush to declare it broken just yet.

It might be useful to go even further into the future to get a better representation of the squad building as the game always seems to favour real players. Once they all retire it would be interesting to see how the game AI behaves.

I think you can use FMRTE. I'm pretty sure it's free if it's only to check something.
Fair enough I never really use FMRTE I prefer the in game editor as it allows you to reveal all the hidden stuff from within the actual game.

I've just seen a post on Reddit where some guy sold Kulusevski to City for 145m and then bought him back a week later for 84m. Now that's a huge issue with AI squad building if true. Not sure if you were able to see any such instances ?

Regarding FMRTE, it's decent enough to use as a scouting tool sometimes and does everything the in game editor has.

Yeah that’s obviously a bug. Players don’t usually let you even discuss terms if they’ve just signed a deal.

I mean, his attributes are still very good.

I’m imagining a 35 year old Rashford in real life still being a regular  I don’t think I can take a decade of him blasting shots into orbit :(

Yeah, this is one of the reasons why regen only databases are a nightmare in the first season or two, as everyone generates with a new contract (the other reason being that everyone is shite).

Wait for genie scout to come out for it. But I've never had a big issue with that, the issue I saw last game was no regen had anything in crossing or any set pieces pretty much, and just had weird blends.

Yeah the average age thing still seems like a massive problem then. No young players getting minutes, the international team is old as feck and focused on 28+ as usual, the median ages for teams are all probably a good 3 years too high...

Basically doing a journeyman save, whenever you take over a squad you'll have a mess of a squad to deal with most likely.

Anyone use any decent background pack or skin? Find the skin that the last few FM's have used is very boring and usually don't bother with anything outside kits and faces.

I’ve used mixed skins the last few years but I’ll definitely be using the Rensie skin this year when it’s released. I’m using the WTCS currently though. I don’t use backgrounds
