Gaming Football Manager 2024

Says a lot about him that he's targeting your subs mostly.

I think it's because I've reached a point in the SPL where I can sometimes rest my full first team for the CL by playing a full second team in a league game against crap sides, so they all get quite a bit of game time. A few are a bit unhappy and will have to be moved on this winter/summer though.

Also, this is so annoying. He's made 3 starts and 15 sub appearances in 2 and a half seasons at Liverpool. They paid a 58m base fee (14m International appearance clause they've paid and another 14m clause they're due after 8 more league appearances) but how daft is this? It's not like he's not good enough either, it's just a ridiculous waste of money by the AI and a waste of player potential.

The game focuses on rep still way too much. They'll play Salah until he keels over.

It wouldn't bother me too much if the asking fees matched that kind of situation but from what I have seen unless the player is in the last year of his contract, the computer will ask for a king's ransom.

Due to their financial situation, their current kit deal is only worth £9m so I thought it fair to reflect that when I updated the kits for the 2027/28 season :)

Salah left by now but they've decided that instead of playing an actual striker up top they signed for 70-80m they'll play Szoboszlai as a striker instead. :wenger:

Quite. For instance I've now seen he wants to leave due to playing time but he's now on a 120k wage and Liverpool want 100m for him, despite him playing little to no football for almost 3 years.

Got the Brighton job. They've just finished 15th in the league and were not far off relegation so no idea what's happened there.
Brighton on mine got relegated first season :wenger:

That made Evan Ferguson unhappy and he got himself listed, so I got him in January with the transfer going thru in the summer. Ferguson and Hojlund rotating is working a treat

Saw a great challenge on Twitter the other day. BREXIT FC Challenge.

You can only play 4-4-2, direct tactics
You can only have British players (No Irish)
Non nonsense Centre backs only
Big lump up top
Ball winning central midfielders only
Aggression up to maximum

You can use existing foreign players, but you can't renew their contracts.

5th title in a row and finally broke the 100 point barrier. Got to the CL quarters and won the Scottish Cup. Didn't win the Viaplay Cup for the first time either, lost to Rangers in the QF.

Nice surprise at the end of the season as the board have decided to build a new stadium!

Oh, the annoying thing happened with one of my players again. My RB got unsettled by City and wanted to leave - they ended up buying him for 45m on a 100k contract. Played 2 times.

There's so many quality players that are interested in signing for me but they currently play in Saudi and their contracts are like 800k. Just pointless to even look at any of them.

Also my assistant manager and three of my best scouts have been poached. Wankers.

A crazy season where my squad was rinsed by top clubs. My starting CB, DM, LW, AM and RW were all sold in the summer or Jan due to release clauses and/or top club interest that I couldn't shake off. Also had to sell my back-up DM. This did mean i brought in 288m of transfer fees and thankfully this was the first season where top players (non-regens) were actually interesting in joining so I managed to sign Enciso and Meupiyou from Brighton as they were relegated.

I'm a bit gutted, we were basically FM'ed in the Scottish Cup final to deny another domestic treble - they had 1 or 2 shots in the game and we had c. 20 with 2-3 xG only to miss our first two penalties in dumb fashion and then we just didn't turn up at all in the CL final.

Cue another season of transfer fun though as every single player in my starting 11 is wanted by another club, yay! I held onto Van Duiven just in Jan as United were in for him but he might have to be let go if he kicks up a fuss again unfortunately - he scored 42 goals in all comps and 31 in the league.

Stadium is being built this summer - 22k capacity and named after David Fernandez, Livingston legend for two seasons.

Board are also being nobs with Youth facilities. For ages it didn't come up as an option and it did this summer. I requested them and they refused. Really annoying as we have 200m in the bank of the club and it's the only thing we are lacking now - they're still only good quality (3 star) whereas we have state of the art training facilities (5 star). It's really needed to get those HG players for the CL.

Just after I post that Chelsea unsettle my star CB and I've accepted a 75m bid. I think the average time someone spends at the club is 2ish seasons, not because I don't want them but because it's hard as feck trying to get them to stay!

Stayed at Como in Italy for the start of the 4th season. After finishing 3rd and getting CL I felt I had to give it a go. But injuries (including star striker and signing of the season Seb Esposito) and general poor form meant by Xmas we were in 9th (still good for Como tbh, media predicted 13th) but CL was disappointing. Hate the new format and after a few early good results, got trounced by the European heavyweights (including fecking Liverpool). The morale plummeted too because some dickhead backup centre back fell out with me, so when teams started inviting me to interviews in December I jumped at the chance.

Got interviewed by Osasuna and Gladbach. By this point Como were 3.5 star reputation so these two teams (both 4 star) were a nice step up and a chance to try another league. Gladbach had the bigger budget and a huge stadium so went for them as soon as I was notified I was successful.

Just finished the half season with them which has been a lot of fun. They were in 10th in Bundesliga (predicted to finish 4th), but for some strange reason absolutely smashing it in the Europa League. I plugged in my gegenpress tactic from Como (with a few minor tweaks based on the Gladbach squad) and went on an insane run. Didn't lose a game until March. Unfortunately after that my form went to shit, but ended the season 4th in the league (and CL football next season), Europa League semis, and won the DFB Pokal cup.

Hoping to get 2nd this season with some signings that better suit the style of play. Picked up a couple of excellent Serbian wonderkids for peanuts who will likely walk straight into the first team. Otherwise I'm eyeing up a 30 year old Jarrod Bowen - West Ham got relegated and he's available for £20m. Would blow most of my budget but he'd be perfect for the right wing.

The turnover is way over the top. I get players wanting new contracts every year basically. And two or three games is enough to complain about lack of playing time. So annoying.

My tactics have gone to absolute shit this second season. Didn’t help that my first two games of the season were Liverpool away and Arsenal at home so morale was low. But we are getting battered in most away games. Might have to switch it up.

I'm managing Bari. Was there twice during my Italy trip this summer, and when I researched their team, it seemed like a fun save, and it is.
In my second season, first back in the Serie A. Spent the more than half of my budget on Federico Redondo but he's played pretty much every game and is doing great.

4 of my players decided they needed Serie A wages after I'd spent a lot of my budget, so was a bit of a bad vibe around the place before the season started. Pretty sure I dropped some points because of them stinking up the place. Was able to give a few of them contracts, and offloaded a couple. For the most part it worked out fine, found some decent loanees and a free CB. My RB position is a huge weakness though, I have two players that should do decently, but neither are performing atm.

Sitting pretty in 7th after 13 games. Got bossed around by most of the top sides so far, but was able to shut up shop against Juventus, and squeeze out a 1-1, they had 25 shots but most were low percentage shots. Also got a surprisingly comfortable win against Mourinho's Roma, and the rest of the points so far are against the weaker sides. I wouldn't be surprised if I lose touch with the best sides, and possibly drop a few places, but staying up seems like it'll be comfortable.

Pretty fun save overall. They don't have the best youth system, but they won the Primavera in 2000, and Torneo di Viareggio 1997, so hoping I can get the youth team back to those heights. Bari also have the third biggest stadium in Italy, biggest one-club stadium at 58,270. Thinking that if I can get the first team into Europe, and establish themselves as one of the better sides and the crowd come rolling in, I should end up with a pretty good economy. Currently the team with the lowest wage spend too. Going to try to keep that down, and try sticking to signing Italian and Argentinian players mostly. Currently there's only a Croatian and an Albanian that's not Italian or Argentinian. Plus Redmond on loan but he's not doing well at all.

Go 4231 with a DM and a deep lying playmaker next to him, and then 2 wingers on support but specific instructions to cut inside. Everyone else pretty standard. Works ridiculously well for me in every league and gets teams to punch way above the talent level.

Yeah I’ve been using a 4-3-3 with a DM, DLP and Mezalla but I’m not scoring enough this year. Going to an AM/AP is the next plan but I don’t have too many players for that position as I bought for the Mezalla role. I can make it work though. Got a lot of very good young players so hopefully it clicks soon.

Yep, the two DMs and AM this year is OP. I play with a BWM DM and DLP DM and Attacking Midfielder and it's worked at every single club I've played at.

At the start of the game I tried the OP tactic last year of CM or Mezzala with a defensive minded midfielder beside them but it didn't work as well as this.

Jekyll & Hyde start to the season. The wins in the league have been scraped and those two 3 - 0 defeats were the worst I've seen any of my teams play in my save.

Hasn't been helped by Van Hecke's broken leg and Webster suddenly being out for 2 months which has meant my 19 year old CB signing has been forced to play every single minute despite clearly not being at the level yet. I've also signed an amazing looking young GK but he wasn't interested in a transfer so I got him on loan with the option to buy at the end, so I feel like I should be trying to develop him since he's in my long term plans.

I used the Maccabi Haifa home banker as a good chance to tweak tactics. I was 1 - 3 down in the Brentford game but after some more tweaks we scored 3 goals in the last ten mins. I signed Ollie Watkins for £16m in the summer and he's outperforming Ferguson so far.

Hopefully that comeback is a sign the tactics are improving the team though.

Use two mezzalas. I have Bruno (attack) and Mount (support) in 433 DM formation. Total football.

I usually have a b2b with a CM on attack duty with the DLP on support. With a high line you can score a lot

This shit with star players is bs. You rest star player one game and he is already unhappy.
Hakimi was on AFCON. Came back semi injured, i didn't select him first game and after the game he is "worried about lack of games". Wtf?
And one tip; don't give promises. I promised that i will sign coaches. I signed 4(!!l) 5 star coaches. And nothing. Player is still "waiting for that promise".
When i sold Shaw (fecker wanted to go to Saudis) team was unhappy despite he asked for transfer. I promised buying new left back. Bought best lb in the game (Bailey) and nothing. They are still "waiting for new lb".

Btw; Joao Neves. He is must sign and you can buy him with any better club. It is February and he already has 20 goals and 10 assists as mc (support mezzala ).

McKenna brutally FMed. Wouldn't blame him for savescumming this one.

Form picked up with Brighton. We had an awful January with 6 PL losses in a row but improved from then on and managed to scrape 4th. We also won the Carabao which is my first trophy. Aim is to sign a really quality DM in the summer, but the rest of the squad is there I think. Maybe replace a few squad players.

Well, some things are very realistic. Hojlund has 15 games without goal. In first two seasons he wasn't good also.
I bought Endrick as backup for Osimhen so it is time to go Rasmus. Time to go....

On 2nd season of non-league to legend and it will be my quickest ever route to a top league. Lucked out by getting the Viz job in Portugal after just a year at Viense with no badges and no experience!

Currently top of the second division by a margin. Form wobbled over Christmas but have inverted Nathan Ferguson as left full back and I haven’t conceded in 7 games!

Half the first team are loans, but I don’t think there are many that can’t be replaced with free transfers or loans next season.

It’s quite exciting to be able to jump the endless trialing of lower league and I have never managed in Portugal before.

New contract signed and ready for Liga Nos!

Finally started to play this over the weekend, the last one I played was FM21. Forgot how much work there was in setting up a new game and start a season rolling to do it throughly, sorting out your squad etc.

I'm at Motherwell. First time playing since playing since Brexit I think, and the work permit laws are a mystery to me! I don't like the squad but we'll see what happens. No good forwards, the best being on loan from Arsenal but he's out for 6 months when the save started.

Took 2 players on loan from Fleetwood, and one from St Mirren. None of them really improving my starting XI. Tried to sign a few freebies but everyone wanted too much money apart from one player who would have been a fringe player. He turned me down to join a Scottish Championship club where he'd be starting. It's looking harder to get players so far which seems more realistic.

Played the group stage of the League Cup, all against lower league teams. Won 3, lost 1 and qualified. Got Celtic in the next round.

I've had 3 players say they'll be considering their options at the end of season. First one took offence when I said I thought he loved it here so I just said "yeah, whatever mate" to the other 2. I'm being advised to try and sell them as the window is still open. We'll see.

Now to start the league campaign!

Players are definitely tougher to get in when you have a low rep. One thing I would suggest is setting up your scouting recruitment to areas where you could get players for cheap from lower rep leagues.

Another thing I do is have an ongoing scout looking for expired contracts at about 3 stars. Every so often a random player drops that can be really helpful! I am in February and a random Brazilian playing in Japan just got his contract cancelled. A 4 star important player and no one else was in for him.

Cheers, sounds like a plan.

Could do with a left back suddenly popping up at some point. My backup's contract expires on 17th January in the middle of the season, and at 33 I don't think I'll be renewing.

On another note my club keep hiring a ridiculous amount of staff. Loads for the reserve team where we don't even have one and there's no reserves league. Going to have to take over the responsibility of that.

Just did a transfer window with Brighton I was looking forward to but now it's done and I've had a great start to the season I'm losing interest

I've only won the League Cup but I just know I will likely win the PL and possibly the CL. I have Roony Bardghji, Evan Ferguson is firing now, Scalvini and Zaire-Emery in midfield, Frimpong at RB, a worldie regen LB, etc..

It popped into my head to do a save with St Margaretsbury who my Dad used to be the chairman of. They're in the 10th tier I think, could be a fun challenge.

So yep, started a new save. St Margaretsbury manager in the 10th tier of the football league. They have no staff, no money and greyed out players. I can't even see which staff would be open to joining me because I've got no staff member who can judge that

Whats the best way to play FM? Do you all have ridiculously good laptops?

Mine is about 4 or 5 years old. It’s nothing incredible and I can’t load many leagues without it slowing.

Playing gegenpress with inverted full-backs in the 10th tier is like running round at the Battle of Hastings with an uzi. Absolutely dominating.

Aim is to get St Margaretsbury to be the best team in the world.

How is this possible?
