Gaming Football Manager 2018

A seven man bus on the edge of the penalty area. A quick headcount shows they only have ten players on the field. Was there an injury?
There are eight - two towards the top. :)

That's surely set piece defending isn't it.
I had a set piece half a minute prior to the screenshot. They played a 5-2-2-1 formation - two defensive midfielders, two wide midfielders and a lone striker. Different screenshot with no prior set piece

Could easily have been a lot worse for Stoke, but my players were shooting like drunk monkeys and I started slowing down the tempo to save energy right after I got the first goal.

I know it's supposed to be realistic but I wish this game didn't have Brexit included. Can't get work permits for anybody at all.

There's an add on you can download from the Steam Workshop that removes any form it.

Well, I ended season 1 - Won 4 trophies apart from the CL (Damn injuries)
Season 1 - Savic, Martins, De Vrij, Grimaldo
Season 2 - Dybala, Varane, Ruben Semedo, Sanchez, Lozano

Gonna be an interesting season

Yeah usually set piece defending is bad, as in players just stay there for some time.

Yeah this year there are some very defensive teams. Even Chelsea with Conte were pain in the ass to play against. Crystal palace plays with 3 at the back and 2 DMs.

I finally caved and bought it. Match engine seems slightly better, it's got a better flow to it and seems more reactive. Good god that tactics screen is awful, doesn't even tell you your players conition when you're picking them. Anyone recommend a good skin to fix that or is there an option I'm missing?

Started with Spurs, wage budget is out of control as I had to pay Pulisic and Dolberg stupid wages to get them. Alli wants new contract that I can't afford.

Nobody seems to be buying Willem Guebbels, he's easily the best player on the game. He's scoring 40 odd goals every year for me playing inside forward (left) he's just turned 21 and is worth £80m. You can pick him up for around £8m early in the game, the guy is an absolute beast.

Guebbels Mbappe
--------Kane--------

its unstoppable.

What's really annoying this year in FM is the stupidly low bids the AI does all the time. PSG especially. Offered me 62M € for Pogba at the start of my third season. The guy is valued at 82M €.

Best offer though was for de Gea like 22M € up front and another 12M € over twelve months. Yeah right, why don't you ask me to let them go for free?

It's the worst thing about the AI. The likes of Real and PSG seem to try spend their whole summer buying your star players who you obviously won't sell, and you can then snap up all the young talent without ant competition. It's been a problem with FM for years, the AI teams always turn to shit after a few years because the AI is so fecking dreadful at transfers.

But of course SI will never bother to fix it and will just add some pointless new feature next year instead.

Found out earlier that Leverkusen have never won the Bundesliga, which shouldn't shock me as one of my best ever and longest FM saves was with them (FM12 I think)

Started a new game with the aim to make them the dominant force in Germany and conceded 10 in two games

Got my first win 3 games in against BMG thank god!

Bayern up next, ahh well...

It should do I think? You can change what it shows though or just install some decent ones e.g. https://www.fmscout.com/a-jamies-essential-fm18-views.html
Cheers, I'll try one from there.

Edit: Nevermind. I found an option to take text size down to 95% and now it shows up.

I've no idea how I'm doing so well when my team still needs serious tweaking and I haven't the money to do it. Alli has been in a huff and not played much due to injury. Rose is constantly injured. Aurier might be a simpleton, no one will buy him. I've no cover for Dier so when he isn't fit it's chaos. Chiellini is injured a fair bit. Yet we keep coming back from being a goal down to win games in the second half. Kane and Eriksen usually either get a goal or assist, Zivkovic and Pulisic chip in, Herrera is playing out of his skin while never getting tired or injured.

I need two fullbacks and a DM in January or the summer. Hoping to get Trent Alexander Arnold and maybe Tierney. Then have no idea about the DM position.

Sound like Italian clubs IRL.

I've found it to be significantly harder this year.

I've always been able to make a reasonably successful tactic from scratch pretty quickly but struggling to put anything together that works.

If I do it works for one game and then I get fecking thumped.

Fighting to save my Leverkusen job ATM, have the dreaded 10 points/5 games scenario and the fixtures aren't particularly kind.

Agents are annoying. They are fecking my season up with their unreasonableness.

Him: I'm not going to tell ou our demands. Make us an offer first.
Me: Ok I'll double his wages and give him a better squad role. Along with bonuses.
Him: THAT'S NOT ENOUGH!!! MAKE ME AN OFFER!! NOW!! THIS IS WHAT WE WANT!! YOU HAVE ONE CHANCE!!!
Me: Um ok. How about we take off that one bonus and lower the wages a bit.
Him: NEGOTIATIONS OVER!! I'LL EAT YOU FECKING FAMILY!!!

That's what it feels like some times. They are so weirdly aggressive.

Does anyone know if FM Mobile will get a transfer window update?

Want to start a new save but I get annoyed by the teams being out of date.

, must be the only team to have never won the league but have made a CL final. Definitely the best club never to have won their league

They’ve barely won anything in their history if I recall. Europa league and maybe some German cups? They were nicknamed Neverkussen..

That's not gonna change either cause they fecking sacked me

The dynamics thing this year is a pain in the ass. From day one the players hated me and ganged up on me the feckers!

Started a new game with the updated squads, and the game decided it absolutely was not going to let me play the Super Cup game. So I had to holiday past it. The first thing I see is the result, 2-1 to them. Sanchez scored for us.

Then I see the interview with my assistant. "You opted against bringing on Alexis Sanchez as a sub, why?" was one of the questions (worded differently, but that's basically it). BECAUSE HE STARTED. This fecking game.

Really struggling with fm this year. Cannot get anything to work. Usually pretty good at the game but im at a loss. After watching a lot of videos from Bust the Net on YouTube. He makes everything look so simple including using little team instructions etc. But whatever I do this year I just don't play well.

Are Real Madrid hard up for cash this year? I'm still in my first season, but already they've had Isco and now Asensio on the transfer list. I'm annoyed as Asensio is going for £51m two days after the transfer window closed and I've no money. Pretty sure he won't be available in the summer.

Asensio always seems to get listed, never seen him move though then after the window shuts he's off the transfer list and in their squad again.

That's the exact same thing that happened with Isco. If he is available in the summer then I'll be throwing my budget at him.

Marcos Llorente usually gets listed and stays listed by them too, you can pick him up for about £3m and it's an absolute bargain for any team.

Cheers, I'll look into him too.

I fear my team are in the process of a magnificent bottle job. We were 11 points clear at the top of the league and it's been cut down to 5 with 6 matches left. Can no longer defend nor take our chances. Kane has gone to absolute shit in the last two matches and injuries have start to pile up.

The highs and lows of FM. Won the league with a 6-1 battering of Liverpool at Anfield, then beat City on penalties in the CL final in my first season with Spurs. Was then only given £34m to spend. Managed to sell some players and got Asensio and Tierney. Now I'm stuck with only one rightback and a back up keeper that wants to leave as no one will buy or even bid on my other transfer listed players despite "wanting" them. It's a roller coaster of joy and frustration.

Might get some time to play this in the next two weeks. Have they changed any of the UI or do you still have to click three times to do something that took one click in FM17? Have you guys just gotten used to it?

I have a good tactic similar to my fave tactic last year. 3 strikers. Playing 3 at the back this year and brought sandro and weiser to United to play wing backs.

My tactic is very intense with pressing and tempo so the players are getting worn out very quickly which is an interesting facet that is new. I also quite like the squad dynamics at the moment. Valencia and Carrick will leave in summer so wondering if people will replace them as team leaders

Since I am a cheap shit, I have a question: are there any mods out there which enable you to play the 2017/2018 season with FM 2017? Not just the squads, but with a fitting calendar as well so that the season ends with the world cup and stuff. I always played the EA version and never really got into this, but I want to come back to manager games (and when I finish my master thesis next week, I will also suddenly have a LOT of free time for two months....) but I also don't want to spend 30€+ on FM 2018 when I'm not sure I will like it.

Have. But half a season isn#t really much when usually, those games for me were about playing 5-6 seasons. It also doesn't really allow you to build a squad (loved that) and stuff like that. I liked it enough to keep my interest up, but I#m still not sure. The interface is so un-intuitive when compared to the old EA games.

Just got used to the extra clicks
