Gaming Football Manager 2010

ive decided to try what a few people here have said about - started a game and just ran it on holiday for a few seasons to see what happens. i always love that kind of experimentation. got it through to 2015 so far, but no massive shifts of power - its still chelski and united fighting for the prem, although united have made such incredibly dodgy signings. Cahill for £15m then selling him on to Villa for £6m the next season. Selling Evra for £15m...

Oh, and Carrick won player of the year. What a strange world.

River, Jan 2011

Bieler
Buonanotte
Archubi --- Abelarias --- Barrado
Ahumada
Villagra -- Coronel -- Sanchez -- Ferrari
Ojeda

Subs: Cristante, Viveros, Sambueza, Walter, Quiroga, Astudillo, Rios

in my game in 2015, Aaron Lennon is the highest paid player in the prem, for Shitty.

Signed Zapata at the deadline for big money, he's working out though because he's capable of playing on both flanks as well and I have some injury problems/an older Patrice Evra

Yeah Cahill seems to sign on most my saves. In one he was bought for £14m and then sold on for £3.6m 2 seasons later after playing just 3 cup games. That same save they also bought Wheater for £10m and Kolarov from Lazio for £20m. So £44m on defenders they didn't really need.

Also confusing was Sir Alex selling Fabio for £10m and then Ancellotti bringing him back for £14m a season later.

And miraculously, City always sack Hughes and sign Mancini in my games. Always. And he rarely lasts more than a year.

feckin hell was playing Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League group stage as Basel. In the 85th minute I was down 2-1 and John Terry hauls down Luis Jimenez when he's in behind the defense but Febian Brandy got the ball and I was still in one on one. The ref seemed like he was gonna let play go on, but then called a foul and sent Terry off right when Brandy was getting to the edge of the box. Couldn't score off the free kick or in the remaining time. :(

On a related note, I know I've said it before, but Febian Brandy is amazing. And he doesn't just beat up on the shitty Swiss teams. Scored twice against Atletico Madrid and once against Chelsea and I still have a game against each left.

pretty nice. I always find that any promising regens i find are marred by either a terrible natural fitness or being very injury prone - or both.

Zoran Tosic has been epic for me at times on the left wing for united, Hulk was a cracking buy also

i bet you use fm scout

Never, Connor More is coming from my U18

The natural fitness and the movement off the ball are the the hardest characteristic to find

Neil Cook will become in 3-4 yrs another Jonny Evans, and in 3-4 yrs I will sell Evans to Barça, Real for 25-30 million, when he will be 29-30 yr old.
Cook is playing very well on loan in Premier League at Ispwich.

Sonny Conroy could become a decent reserve

Jamie Gordon could become the new Rio Ferdinand in my opinion

I would like to sign this one

but they want 10-11 million, and I spent all my budget signing Fabregas, Kuzmanovic...

It's all gone to shit for me.

I'm in my 4th season with United, won 2 league titles, 2 Champions League titles, and the league cup. It's now December and I'm 17th in the league, and can't seem to get a win for love or money.

It's essentially the same squad I had the previous season (which won the league), but it's all gone tits-up for some inexplicable reason.

Maybe I should have splashed some money in the summer: I only spent 1.5m on a Polish centre-half.
That's what I get for being a tight ass.

Do any of you guys control your reserve teams? I think this is key in this game. I bought a load of promising youngsters who couldn't get a game behind the regulars, but this makes it possible to monitor their progress more closely...

Nah, not really. I do watch some of the games sometimes to get a better idea of who the best players are though.

So im with United in my 4th season, won everything every season with ease. Now im contemplating selling everyone in pre season and buy in only young english talent with an aim to building a super team for a few seasons time, Il probably end up getting the sack.

Here's some bargain signings:

Roberto Palumbo - Striker/winger with good finishing and leadership qualities. 75k.
Wilfried Niflore - Strong centre forward, good in the air and a decent finisher. 10-300k
Marco Verratti - Has awesome stats for a 16 year old and gets called up to the Italian national team 3 years into the game. 150k

Steam disabled my account for apparently no reason so now I can't play this (and my other Steam games) even though I've already purchased it and have it downloaded onto my computer. fecking Steam.

He's got good stats in the right areas but he's been a resounding failure for my Angers team in Ligue Un. Probably doesn't help that we're sitting 19th and ten points off safety, but his wishy-washy performances haven't helped matters.

They don't really hold you to ransom though do they.

I've never had a single problem with steam.
That's all fine but what if Steam goes bankrupt? You lose access to all your games. Accidentally download a hack for one game? Steam bans your whole account. Steam decides to start pricing accounts? You can do feck all about it.

SI also have a Steam-only feature - the old FM09 skin is available for Steam only, because "of skin differences". Bloody hell.

When a game developer starts choosing its preferred delivery system things get very murky. I will never trust Steam and if a future version becomes Steam-only I'm not going to get it.

It is akin to trusting your car with some fairly reputable person who has his own agenda for keeping your car (maybe he showcases it and charges or something, who knows) - but if he suddenly vanishes, he takes your car and you never see it again.

Meh, there are no Iniestas, Xavis, Messis or Piques in there.

Barca seem to always end up getting dicked on, even if they have a brilliant squad. Last season for me they finished 5th, and their squad was so ridiculously sexy I decided for the sake of logic to take control of them for a summer window and buy them some more quality players (Fabregas, Hummels, Cheillini, Adler and a slew of quality regens ...) to see if I could get them back on track (Also leaving them with a shedload of money, and then boosting the stats of their new manager (Van Basten)). Now they're just about clinging onto 7th.

Madrid walk away with the league every season  Despite the fact at the beginning of the game I gave a few Spanish clubs an £800m spread over 5 years and erased all their debts to make the league more competitive (Which hasn't helped Barca in fairness)

I need help.

I'm Lazio, in the first transfer window and I've just had to sell Rocchi (my star player) for £7.5m to Chelski. I need a replacement.

Rough budget of about £7m, needs to be able to play on the right or left of 3 out and out strikers, ideally under 23.

I've been having huge defensive problems for 2 or 3 seasons now on my Everton game. The only way I've stayed in my job is from outscoring the opposition and a 4-3 scoreline is no longer a surprise to me.

Despite this, all of my main defenders (Baines, Yobo, Jagielka, Miranda and Hutton) are all in high demand and I could command a high transfer fee for them aswell. I've been wanting to get rid of Jagielka for a while as most defensive errors appear to be coming through him. I just cannot find a replacement who is anywhere near his standard that is interested and I don't think I have the backing of the board to experiment with a youngster.

Very frustrating as in my second season I finished 4th in the league and thought I was making progress. The C.L campaign really took it out of my squad though and I finished the season 9th.

If anyone has any defenders to recommend I'd greatly appreciate it

Stephen Taylor from Newcastle is a pretty handy signing. I manged to get him for 750K when Newcastle got relegated, and he's doing a tidy job for me at right back. Also, depending what season you're in, you can get Gallas on a free who does a solid job for a season or two (demands big wages, mind). And then has to be replaced again.

Curtis Davis is pretty brilliant aswell, he'll cost quite a lot though.

Taylor and Davies are two I've been watching. The only thing stopping me putting in a bid for Taylor is that his concentration isn't brilliant. I wouldn't be able to get him on the cheap as Newcastle are in the C.L () and I dont want to pay a lot of money for a player who might make similar mistakes.

Oh yeah, just looked and those 2 aren't interested in a move to Everton any more

Newcastle? Champions League? Does not compute

If Taylor is gonna cost a bomb, then I wouldnt bother tbh. I'd definatly reccomend Davies though, but as I say, he doesnt come cheap.

Has anyone signed Rodwell before? Everton want £15 million for him, which if I paid would be very much against my usual signings (i.e Wenger style cheap bargains), just not sure if he's worth it. Anyone had him before, how did he do?

Cheers.
