Gaming Football Manager 2009

bored of the sunderland game

3 seasons done and i am top of the league

new challenge .. any league 2 side .. suggestions ?

I made my home team Longsight Athletic, started in the BSP, gave myself a sugar daddy and 0 rep, and no starting players so I have to buy my whole team, and only shit players want to come to me. Mucho fun.

Heh. Is this normal? I haven't played more than a couple of seasons before with United on FM09 (just finished my third, and still interesting). Not sure why they'd say penniless, unless they'd say it if this had happened at any other point. I'm actually much better off financially than at the same time the last two seasons, probably much due to my 100k Old Trafford.

Shame that it only says that he'd step aside to another board member. Though now he's stepping down, and the current "transfer of power" could always crash and burn in favor of a filthy rich Arabian!

*fingers crossed*

Please please please please please please!

Of course, for this to happen with my luck, it'd have to mean that they fire me to bring their own guy in (probably Alan Shearer).

niMic, consortims = bad, they never go OTT with money like one rich arab-esque investor

They don't need to go over the top, they just need to give me some money. It's been getting slimmer and slimmer with ol' Gill and Glazers :p

Besides, it'd be fun, really. I'm not only in it to get lots of money and buy everyone, it's got to stay interesting as well.

Edit: The season just got a bit more tolerable. Arsenal lost the CL final to Barcelona, and City lost the UEFA Cup final to CSKA Moscow.

i only buy players who are young or a very good price with super rich owner, the only problem is there getting very annoying wanting me to win champions league, minimum, i was tempted to leave not long ago to AC or real, decided against it though :p

And I was worried about missing Messi!

Oh, and want to hear something.. erm.. interesting? Since I started my "feck it, offensive tactic against all teams, all game!" policy, I've beaten Arsenal away twice, Chelsea , Liverpool and Roma. And we're not talking a huge span of games here. I've lost once. To Newcastle. 4-0.

Yeah, i stick to the same tactics basically every game and seem to do fine. All the tinkering doesnt seem to provide consistent results, it seems that the whole "team settling into a set style" is a pretty big factor.

And in my game, Gill stepped aside around 2012 to be replaced by Bill Glazer, so I would say its fairly normal.

This isn't Bill Glazer though, and it just got worse.

They (the original, current board) just gave me a £50 million transfer budget, but put me on a transfer embargo. Oh, and the new owners said they'd appoint Javier Aguierre as manager.

I'm not quite sure what I'll do if that happens. This was supposed to be my long term United game. If I can get another fairly big job (top 4-5 in the biggest nations), I'll continue. If not, I'll reload. I don't do the whole reloading thing, not even if this had happened to any of my other games, but for the United game and the equivalent Maidenhead United game, the whole point is to stay at the club. We'll see.

Edit: Gill, that sly devil, just offered me a new 4 year contract, while he's in the process of selling the club

bradford it shall be then

am assuming notts county was a joke .. there is no way sven would join .. maybe in fm10 :p

is it okai if i use the editor at the start of the game to make macheda, gibson, cleverley, cathcart awesome and tevez really really shit

nobody's going to bite your head off if you want to do that, but I'd leave Tevez as is and sell him for 30m+

can someone who is a few years in have a look and see if jose baxter is any good?

poached him from everton, and he is killing it in the under 18's

I'm doing a game with my mates as players and letting it run. Is currently in 2019 and Baxter plays for Arsenal and is the best player by a mile. Is Englands No.1 striker.

That's still poor form.

Its what happens when you play the game for too long.

2015? I used to give up and get bored after about 3 seasons  Suppose I lack the commitment to ever be a top flight manager.

I always spend ages modifying the database before playing, which usually means I can only get about 3 or 4 seasons before my save corrupts and starts crashing :(

i wouldve done that if i was playing as united .. but in the sunderland game it was sickening to watch him play alongside rooney for united

Left AFC Wimbledon in 2015, made them about 12 million, under wage budget, 3 promotions, full ground every match so I ask the board to extend the ground and they agree. 3 months later the ground is upgraded by wait for it.........122 feckING SEATS

 I've asked over and over for an extension but it's like talking to a brick wall.

Oh yes a funny development is occuring in my game, with 8 games of the season left Man City are bottom of the premier league table.

How is Sakho doing for you? I plan to buy him but he is going to cost a fortune (Juve already rejected 50m bid).

I got him for 20m at the ripe old age of 19. He is now 20 and consistently brilliant already. Certainly worth the buy, though 50m+ is probably a bit much, you could get 2 excellent CBs for that!

If you're going to play for 5-10+ seasons, get him. Eventually he's one of the very top center backs in the world. I've got him for my United-game, and him and Evans have started displacing Ferdinand and Vidic. I'm not sure I'd get him for £50 million or more, though. I got him early on, for ~£10 million. Well, if you have a lot of money to spend and absolutely no other needs in your team, what's going to stop you? But otherwise I'd try to find a less expensive, even if a little less skilled, alternative. If he costs £50 million, you must be a bit in? There might be some very good defender-talents that have spawned already.

I am in 2014 and yeah there might be some talented regens but his statistics are awesome and he is still only 24. And I have around 160m in my disposal so it really is just a question of how far I am willing to go.

Another thing what bothers me is my seeders club situation. I canceled all ineffective cooperation with clubs like Antwerp...but when I ask the board to find a seeder club...they will come up with some shit clubs from Austria or Romania. Well I am not interested in those markets...

Anyone got a record this good with a player?

2016/17 was pretty special.

Decided to feck off Bordeaux and did a International career with England... lost to Spain in the WC Semis.

Euro 2012 qualifiers start soon
