Gaming Football Manager 2009

My management career is still out for the jurys decision.

I usually start lower league and work my way up. But this time i couldn't be arsed so i jumped straight in as United boss.

Got rid of Tevez, Berba, Nani, Fletcher, Park

Bought in David Villa, Juan Manuel Mata & Gabriel Obertan

Villa is a fecking monster upfront, Juan Manuel Mata gets MOM alot and sets up goals. Two good buys. I technically cheated a bit as i edited some of the reserves / under 18s stats. I edited them realistically (what i feel is realistic) Like made Macheda/Welbeck/Rafael/Fabio all better (not stupidly better). So i'm taking a little risk getting rid of tevez/berbatov.

Manucho looks like shit on my game but i hear he gets goals. I'm trying to flog him.

I scouted This Gabriel Obertan guy and my scout (who is rated highly) reckons he will be as good as Ronaldo. And he looks alright (he's 19) so i thought "feck i'll play the transfer muppet role" so i've bought him.

Hopefully in a few seasons he'll live up to his tag (had to splash the cash - £15mil for him).

I've only played like 8 games and i had a dream start, I spanked Arsenal 6-0 (they fielded a proper wtf? team). Then after that i got a bit cocky and it backfired. I've lost to Everton and more recently got had by a counter attacking Bolton.

Should be fine but the most worrying thing is the scousers are top and winning all their games convincingly.

Man City have spent loads of dollar on some shit pank players. On my game they allways spend at least 8mil on the shittest goalkeeper there is.

Did win the community sheild and the super cup thingy.

Rooney rarely performs for me. Villa, Mata, Vidic are pretty much the only people on my team that are consistantly perfoming.

Anyone have any tips on getting your squad to play consistantly better / play better as a team, also any tips for a classic attacking united?

Nice one :D I took the gamble as i usually don't splash the cash on players i haven't heard of, but my scout was quite assured that he was the next ronaldo :D He might get good but i doubt he'll be ronaldo good. Plus Obertan is shit at freekicks.

I hadn't heard of him before, is he any decent in real life?

I'm usually in the know with decent players but this dude passed under my radar for whatever reason.

It feels good when you sign a player you aren't aware of and they make it big in real life. A few FM backs i signed up Arshavin on one of the first CMs i had Ibrahimovic.

For every star i've had a million, nay a zillion shitters.

My worst hour was paying £15 for Collins John (was a few FMs back)

But it was shocking. I splashed the cash on him after he bagged four international goals against Brazil (or argentina) and went straight in with my gut.Think he got like 3 goals in around 20 odd games for me. Twas shocking.
 
I still maintain I have the greastst ever strike force assembled for under £2million pounds.

875k and £1.1mil respectively. Lewandowski's attributes were far better until Inter bought him and then never ever played him. Wankers. Though thinking about it I sold him to them for £26.5mil, then bought him back for £17mil so I made a £9mil profit on him.

Also I am pretty sure Walid Salama isn't a real person.

He wasn't too great when I bought him, but my scouts rated him and I really needed someone to start getting me goals from corners. Ironically I don't think he has scored a single header yet, he also goes missing in all the big games and has an unsporting personality. I'm still waiting for him to have a decent season, he hasn't won a single personal award yet, not even 3rd in youngest player of the year or something equally trivial, the over rated cockmunch. I actually tried to flog him for £50mil in the hope I could get a cheeky bid in for Aguero, but there were no takers.

I hope he is real, he is surely the next Ronaldo and if my FM game is anything to go buy we can pick him up for £3.5mil. Not to mention he has the greatest name I have managed to find on FM since Nacho Casanova

I would like to see how many goals this Mr Gignac scores against my defence of Morin and Howedes (whoever they are). Especially when I have Veloso and Motta shielding my back four.*


*actually my defence is pants I let in 3 times as many goals as madrid last season and only won the league by the fact I literally had my entire team set to attack and managed to curse, hope and pray my way through an entire season

I also bought Simon Vuckevic and Adem Ljajic. Vuckevic was quality, Ljajic not so much. I don't know if you want to pass that information on to your local FA or relevant football governing bodies.

Gignac scored about 85% of my goals...

Lookin for a CL place this season.

I was gonna buy either him or Saivet for first full season at Newcastle. Went for Saivet for 7 mill. having bought him when I was at Fiorentina.

Should've went for Gignac I guess but they wanted 9mill + for him
 
Update - bought Dean Leacock and Jay DeMerit in January to replace Seck and Adam Barrett, who I shipped off for 200k combined. Also got a 33 year old Fabrice Fiorese for 30k for my right wing. Bought Damien Mozika and am retraining him as a left winger (and hoping he doesn't chuck a shit on my desk). Played out the rest of 09/10 with Choco and Robert Bayly in a Scholes - Keane style midfield pairing.

Charlie Ademeno turned into a deadly finisher for me - 12 goals in about 13 league games (only about 4 of which were starts).

And finally managed to get Lolo on a free from Seville at the beginning of 10/11. Get in!
 
I broke my laptop a couple of weeks ago, got it replaced and now im trying to install Football Manager 2009 again, but I seem to have lost my manual with the code on the back. Any chance someone could PM me a serial code for the game?

Don't, he gets ridiculously good after 2 seasons, he's constantly banging goals and assists for me now and he's worth nearly 30 million.

Oh, and De Silvestri is an awesome right back, got him for about 5 mill at the start.

Have you ever won the PL on the last minute of the season?

The standings were:

Liverpool 37 87
United 37 85

I was away to Hull and won comfortably with 0-3, Liverpool played Middlesbrough away and was leading 0-1 up until the 93' minute when Gignac hammered in, what came to be, the strike of the season. I won the league on GD

I've played 3 seasons and Arsenal always take me down to the wire. Their team gets brilliant (Vela and Ramsey in particular). I've won all 3 seasons but I've needed 90+ points to do so. In the second season I got 98 points, Arsenal had 95...

Anyway, players I've bought are...
Pogrebynak - 9m in Season 1, great backup for Rooney and Tevez, very useful as a target man.
Arshavin - Got him for 5m off Arsenal at the end of season 1 cause he wasn't getting his game. He's quality in it, gets a ridiculous amount of assists if you throw him on the wing.
De Silvestri - 12m Season 2. Wonderkid RB, by the age of 21 he was far better than Wes Brown. Probably the best right back in the game at this stage (aged 23)
Cana - 10m Season 2. Long term replacement for Hargreaves, and ends up being better than him. If you want a DM (and you pretty much need one in FM) then he's the man to get.

That's all I've had to buy, I've sold Park, O Shea and Fletcher, cause they're poop in the game. Nani, Anderson, Evans and Tosic get absolutely brilliant by mid season 2. I'm in season 4 now, transfer budget of 70m but I haven't bought anyone, don't need to.
 
I won everything possible in my first season at united (beat Barca 4-0 in the champions league final). Sweden and Hungary came in for me so i signed for Sweden and now i'm currently both United manager and Sweden manager, and kicking ass in both roles :P I've just got Sweden through to the World Cup (quite a tough position as i took over half way through the campaign and they were near bottom of the group) Meaning i had to beat Portugal and Denmark (amongst others) which is easier said then done.

I was playing last night i'm halfway through my second season,

The true muppet in me has my scouts set on Messi and his status is allways "not currently interested" but randomly it was at "might have some interest", so i put in a cheeky £60mil bid (just to deshevel barce a it mainly) and they excepted straight away (maybe they need the cash?) and Messi says he'll join on a 155k a week deal at key player (obviously). The thought of ronaldo and messi in the same team was too good for me to say no.

I'm about to pick up were i left of and give Lionel his debut.
 
I really wish there was an ipod touch/ iphone app that let you create formations and trainings, so i could do it at work and then upload them into my game when i got home.
 
Just finished 2nd in the Championship in my first season with Southampton.

Been taken over by the most pathetic consortium of all time. They managed not to clear my debts and tried to get some shite manager in despite the fact I was doing better than the club could have dreamed of.

Now I'm in the summer trying to buy players good enough to keep me in the premiership. :lol: I'm gearing up for a terrible season
 
Try signing Messi, i hear he's quite good.

Try offering out a few players who don't play very often on loan. Then demand a couple of million to loan them. That usually brings in a few million a year for me, and gives players first team football.
 
I downloaded this on my laptop which has a Mobile Intel 945 Express Chipset, which im guessing is rubbish. The game wont run. My exams just got over and before my imac comes i want to make use of these few holidays i have. Is there any way to get it to work on this laptop? Isnt there a way i can reduce some graphical settings? :(
