So we'll be saving a lot of money once we get Zlatan and Rooney off our books...
Never been a fan of footballers having their earnings defined by week. In what other sport does that happen? And what point does it serve?
Lewis Hamilton signed a three-year F1 contract with Mercedes worth £32m annually. Which is how it was depicted in the media.
At the time, his earnings equated to £615k per week.
It's all relative.
China could beat even the wages we pay.
Even so, he must be doing his nut sat on the bench every week. People love to assume money is the most important factor for already rich footballers, but imagine driving into training every day and keeping yourself (kind of) fit for no reason whatsoever. Yeah you get a paycheque but you know you haven't earned it.
Rooney has maybe 2-3 seasons left in his career. I don't see him spending another sat on the bench just so he can pick up some money.
Özil's, however, were correct / true.This. Plenty of football leaks documents have been proven doctored in what concerns portuguese football transfers.
Absolutely insane money in the game now, honestly. Free marketeers will say they are simply paid what they are worth, others will say that if there is this sort of money in the game then its only right that the players get a sizable share of it, but still.
I'd have no issue what so ever sitting on evertons bench and earning a fat crust doing so.
But as none of us know how Rooney feels, nor what his aims are....
He's on a massive contract, his Mrs won't want to go to China, as she wants to be near her family. Getting him the books won't be cheap nor easy, his agent will extract the maximum he can get for himself and his client. He's got plenty of previous.
I couldn't agree more but FIFA/UEFA weakened agent regulation not long ago so agents can even make more money. No way in hell this will be tightened. That is a surreal amount of money for what a essentially is deal brokering. In financial services brokers charge 1% -2% of the deal value yet in football it seems to be anywhere from 10%-50%.
It's mad and absolutely bonkers. Needs regulating big time.
I know we don't know how Rooney feels but he's nearing the end of his career and may want to get as much as he can and stay in the country. The best way he can do this is stay at Utd. Utd would have to pay a huge proportion of his wages to get him to go Everton. Everton may only want to pay £50k per week.It is objectively daft but it's all about supply and demand at the end of the day. It's the same with the rest of us sat in our cubicles, your pay is related to your skill set. It just so happens that the amount of people able to kick a ball around to that standard is a minuscule fraction of the population.
If we don't even know how Rooney feels, then how can we possibly know that his wife will piss on a move abroad?
I'd say it's a much safer bet to say that Rooney would want to spend his few remaining seasons actually playing football instead of wasting his time warming our bench just to pick up a marginally better salary.

I really don't see him or his wife moving to China and that's assuming they would pay for him. He had the chance to move abroad for big money before and chose Utd.
F1 drivers get paid so much because out of the entire world there are only about 25 of them able to do it and they are also putting their life on the line every time they go on the track - as opposed to a few hundred or so of top level footballers in the world. It's a different situation and I think F1 drivers can basically charge what they want.
With comparatively few other high skilled employees to pay.top footballers make a lot of money because they generate a lot of money
Jesus... what an expensive lesson to learn!! I am sure the money men will not letting talented young players leave the club any more without a buy back clause.
Zlatan came on a free transfer, so he was able to ask for more money in wages. That is the benefit of moving at the end of your contract. The risk of course is that you get a big injury as he now has.
Me. And that's what Di Marzio reported at the time. Well now we know. He really isn't making that much all considered. Not the ridiculous wages that Madrid and its fans said they refused to pay for Pogba now is it?
Who is the Madrid poster who continually claimed Pogba was on 650k per week pre tax?

She's been interviewed numerous times and stated she needs her family around her.
I'd say Rooney won't get a better contract from any team he'd want to join. So why would her leave? Bit part player at United on £300k a week or bit part player at Everton on £90k a week.
Money talks, he can focus on getting his coaching badges and have a happy family and a healthy income for a few years.
How do you know she meant her uncle Pete and not just Wayne and the kids?
Bit part player at Everton on 90k, or main man in Shanghai on 500k? Pretty sure Coleen could buy a lot of handbags with that.
As for the part in bold, he's got one more year left on his deal. He'll be uprooting them soon whether they like it or not.
Context was wider family, not just Wayne and the kids.
Do you have a link or anything?
No I watched on the tv years ago, she's also said the same stuff in women's magazines etc. I don't think loose women have a YouTube account. Google it if you're that bothered.

I just thought you were reading it from somewhere since you knew the wider context.
It's all speculation anyway, we'll know soon enough.
Yes I know mate. I just meant learn from wasting so much money and do everything to stop it happening again. You can't put a buy back clause on someone who runs down his contract.

Now i really hope Pogba choose you, as opposed to Floren not trying hard to sign him
I'm sure she earns enough herself and doesn't need to rely on her husband's move to fund herself.

She loves Liverpool, she goes there all the time. She named it as the best place in the world. They go on holidays with her parents. She has an extensive list of quotes about how important her parents are to her. She has numerous business ties with the area. She isn't going anywhere. Wayne won't be allowed to leave her behind.
But regardless, getting back to your original post his £300k a week will likely get paid out in advance, so we won't be freeing up the cash, simply paying it off early. He'll take the club for everything he can, his agent isn't stupid.
There are drivers in F1 who (via sponsorship) pay the teams for their seat.F1 drivers get paid so much because out of the entire world there are only about 25 of them able to do it and they are also putting their life on the line every time they go on the track - as opposed to a few hundred or so of top level footballers in the world.
