Ok this hasnt been up for a while and as i have started training for the football season i thought i would get everyones recommendation on boots. Or rather have at thread for others to talk about the boots they have and what they find good about them.

I used to be a predator man, then last year i bought some cheap boots as i was missing half the season. They are now incredibly uncomfortable and i have opted for the Nike Tiempo Mystic.

AS far as boots go they are well priced (120 Australian dollars, for a comparison in australia mercial vapours are about 320-350 and roo leather predators are 270 (r.r.p)).

HAve warn them to 2 trainings so far and what i have found is they are probably the most comfortable pair of boots ive put on. Trained last night in the rain and they still had good grip and helped keep good control over the ball and feet dry. I probably wont look to another pair of boots from now and keep updating these. THey dont have anything fancy about them in terms of grip and all that, and are pretty straight forward designed which is what i prefer.

I play for a college in the United States, so football boots for me are pretty important. I have been wearing the Mercurial Vapors for the past four or five years, and they keep getting worse. I have very narrow feet, and they seem to be the only ones to fit properly, though they take ages to break in (resulting in blisters galore). My advice if you have average sized feet would be to find a nice leather boot to mold to your foot, rather than being forced to have a synthetic boot where your feet are forced to mold to your boots.

i buy whatever cheap boots are on sale at JJB/Sports Direct - rarely pay more than £20, my last Umbro pair cost a whopping £8 - does it really make that much difference at a non-pro level?
I am still a fecking great player

Well the studs were too long on my last pair of boots causing me to catch the ground when kicking on occasion. That was the main reason for wanting new boots.

The Adipure boots are extremely comfortable and should be a decent price because they are bringing out a new version now

I got Predators last year having wanted a pair since I was young. I've cut them up pretty badly - the stitching where I shoot with my right foot has grass and mud lodged all the way inside.

Usually I wear Nike's, which are lighter than Predators but a bit more expensive I reckon.

This is what I wear.

The are comfortable as feck and pretty much feel like you're running in a pair of runners.

If you have ankle/achilles problems when playing or get pains at the bottom of your feet from football shoes I suggest wearing these.

For me they've added about five years onto the time I can play. If they didn't exist I would have stopped playing years ago,.

They sound exactly what my mate wants. He wants shoes as close to runners/joggers as possible.

Asic Gel Lethals they're called. He'll love em. Don't know how well blade type studs will go on Melbourne pitches though.

might have to look into those HD

I wanted to get the vapors. been using the talarias which are pretty sweet. I the lack of weight and the thinness of material makes me feel like i'm playing barefoot (well you almost are I guess)

has anyone tried the nomis brand?

I went through exactly the same scenario. Started with the adidas predator and they were the worst I've ever played in - it just didn't feel right and I had some of my worst games in them. I must have fallen atleast half a dozen times each game while wearing adidas predators.

Then bought the Nike Tiempo Mystic and they are miles better than the predator. Simply the best of the lot I've gone through. The predator is now gathering dust somewhere in my storage....

Have you tried Nomis? I heard nothing but good things about one of their models that specifically provides better grip in wet conditions.

I wear Adidas Predator's for soft ground, Adidas Copa Mundial's for hard.

Mundial's are probably the best boots you can buy. Despite being over 30 years old, developments in technology etc. Even most of the pro's say this. You could do a lot worse than their soft ground equivalent - World Cup's - as well.

I really don't see how it matters. Boots are boots. Especially at the level we all play at.

Whenever i see anyone with flashy boots playing against me i usually think he's a cocky cnut so he's usually the first person i fly into.

We hate people like you. :D

I buy boots that I know are the most comfortable. Arguably it doesn't matter what level you play at as to how good the boots need to be. If you're good, you're good. Likewise, if you're average, you're average! But I cannot wear Nike boots anymore and for the trouble they've given me, I probably wouldn't budget on a pair for £20 when I know Adidas always do well.

But then it's like saying why buy expensive shoes, suits or clothes.

That's my intention as they usually piss their pants everytime they come near me the rest of the game.

Nothing wrong with that at all, i can understand wanting comfortable boots but buying boots just because they look nice and stuff is pretty gay imo.

It's nothing like that at all, when you buy shoes, shirts etc etc you're buying them to look good. You want to look good going out and all that. When you're buying boots you're buying them to play football in. It's like the sort of people that do their hair to play football too.

Gayers.

Having said all this though, these are my boots:

But only because i was given vouchers for a store that was having a closing down sale and these were the cheapest they had in my size.

The "we hate people like you" comment was a joke. I'm not flash, nor do I think I am!

I don't have boots purely because they look nice (you on the other hand...!). RockOfGilbratar has just posted the boots I think are best and whilst they do happen to look tidy, they're easily the most comfortable and can be got for about £60.

I realise you buy clothes to look good, but it's still up to you how much spend and the quality of the product. People saying '£20's fine, I wouldn't spend more' always have to buy a new pair more often. Trust me, I play with people that do this.

In my experience, Total 90's seem a very well rounded boot. They don't give me the heel arc ake, like the predators and mercurials.

If you are slightly overweight 'not by a huge amount' like me then I say go for the Total 90's, but honestly, there's alot of good boots out there. Just find the most you feel comfortable in. So what if its not Addidas or Nike. Its then end result on the pitch that matters.

I got a pair of the Red Predator's for $95 in the Adidas Factory. Really good buy as they are Kangaroo Leather and are nice and comfy and they look pretty nice. To be honest I want to have boots that look good are comfy but not pay $200-$300 for them.

This is a pic of mine!

Do they give you that extra spring in your step?

Mizuno Ghost Striker - very comfortable and light - winning combination.

I need some studded ones, the ones i currently have (same as yours) are garbage in the mud swamps i've been playing in lately.
