Portugal 1-0 half time

France 2-1 full time

Can somebody tell me why there isn't a game for the third anymore? Liked those games, we're always nice attacking wise.

Btt:

Rooting for France, they deserve it.

There hasn't been a third place final in the Euros since 1980. Never liked them in the World Cups either, the game for the bronze medal only makes sense to me in the Olympics.

Rooting for a Nani-inspired Portugal win but I think France will win pretty easily.

Hopefully France win easy. Evra, Schneiderlin and Martial over Nani and that other one.

France are favs, but I'm very much enjoying the Messi fans bricking it the last few days.

why would they be bricking? Do you think that Van Basten fans are shitting themselfs on the possibility that Giroud is going to win the Euro?

They know better than anyone tonight could be the final nail in the coffin for Messi's enjoyable few months

I think you massively overrate how big an impact this game tonight can have on Messi's legacy. In a few decades people will say that it's a shame that the greatest player of his generation didn't win a title with Argentina (if it stays that way) similar to how people say that it's a shame that Puskas and Cruyff didn't win something with their nationalteams after coming so close. Portugal maybe fluking a title with dire performances in a tournament that most people will remember as one of the worst Euros ever played in terms of entertainment and quality isn't what's lifting great players to all time greats, no matter how great a story it'll be for the country if they win their first ever international tournament.

:nono: people are just as likely to remember Messi as the one who won everything with Barca but bottled it time and again with his country, despite playing with some of the best players around like Aguero, Mascherano & co.

The people who remember it like that can be written off as irrelevant anyway.

He's a bit shit for Argentina though to be fair. Resembles a league 1 player for the NT.

Messi getting a mention in a discussion about the European Championship Final . Sure, something similar might have happened in the Copa America final thread. It's a bit ridiculous on both counts.

I don't understand the obsession with Messi and Ronaldo.

Same here. I have no issue with people preferring one over the other, which i do. For some though, this whole Messi and Ronaldo thing is obsessive. I fancy the French to win 2-0.

Player by player the differences aren't so clear. Portugal has better defence overall but France has more power in midfield and attack.

Frenchies are being arrogant as feck for this final so i hope Portugal wins 3-0.

It's amazing how the french are always the one being arrogant even though the opposition are doing all the talking.

You won't hear any Portuguese pundit or whatever say crap like Rothan was saying yesterday. But you can tell the clever ones like Deschamps are respectful as they should be.

So you reduce France to Rothen, who made comments no one cared about in France?

The opinion in France is simple, France can win but with a strong defense and Ronaldo Portugal are a tough opponent. Basically both countries think that they have a chance.

Area around France's hotel cleared because of suspicious package.

Things like this never end well.

And the French posters on here were yapping on about the arrogance of the Germans already booking their flight to Paris before the semi was even played...

Come on Ronaldo.

Ronaldo was one of Portugal's worst player in at least 3 games in this tournament so I have no idea what exactly is he going to prove. Strong game tonight might improve his impact on this tournament overall but I seriously doubt he is capable of it considering his performances so far. Of course, he is always capable of scoring goal or two though if his team plays well.

Predicted France to win the Euros before it started but feck it I want to see the Messi fanboys cry again and Ronaldo winning a major tournament with his country will hurt Messi so much it will probably convince him to come out of 'retirement'

And Deschamps playing Gignac over Martial is another reason for me to want Portugal to win tonight.

Paris is already unsufferable, people honking their horns all over the place. Not sure what would be worst, a French or Portuguese win... A draw and a never ending pen session might be good.

You should've seen Leicester after they won the league... Of course people are gonna celebrate, it's the final game of a month-long festival of football, in a football mad country. Surely you can't blame them for honking their horns
